    Maybe you remember the story from February, when a German doctor refused to tread a teenager because his name was "Cihad" (popular first name in Turkey). IIRC over here we mused about that naming your child "Jihad" could really backfire. Imagine, he becomes a gay porn star or a famous atheist intellectual.

    Well, I have today watched an Arabic gay porn and one of the actors was called "Shihad"  Tongue

    Seriously though, they use the word Jihad in the spiritual sense of struggling - in this case struggling for their rights as Gays and Muslims.

    I'm going to go for hippy names like Rain, Sky, or Sunshine for the girls, perhaps Greek Mythology names for the boys.  Perseus, Eros, Apollo etc. though I think Io would be a cool name for a girl. 

    btw the best naming I have heard was the daughters of a Texas Governor. His last name was Hogg, and he named his daughters Ima and Youra
    So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

    Please don't go naming your kids Apple, or Cupcake, or any of those stupid celebrity names.

    When I was Muslim, I so wanted to name my kids like Fatima, Khadija, Muhammad, Nuh, Isa, etc. But those names are so unoriginal and Muhammad is WAY too common. To be honest, I am not a fan of Arabic names anymore.

    With that being said, I don't want my kids to have Polish names either. That will piss my mother and father off, but o well Tongue

    Anything that can't be traced back to a name from a religious book or that was popular for religious people.

    Reminds me of the old girl's name: Chastity. I always thought that was a horrible name to lumber a daughter with. If you really wanted her to live well it would be better to name her Debauchery.  dance
