"And I think those Christian converts probably left Islam because Jesus seemed cooler or something, rather than out of... skepticism."

    +1

They "read the Bible" (direct quotation) and "feel the Holy Ghost filling my heart". Not "I research the fallacies of Islam and find Christianity to be a more logically coherent alternative."

Remember all the shit Zaiba went through and goes through? Peru as well? The shit musivore is going through with his wife? Hassan with his friends? Sunbul with her family? Fombles with his? Me with my schoolmates who have threatened me with violence? Christian converts are going through that shit as well.

Yeah, we all have shit going on. So what? That doesn't give anyone a free pass to start talking silly bollocks unchecked.

Should we really sacrifice CEMB's potential status as a haven, a refuge for them, just for the sake of intellectual integrity and critical thinking?

IT IS a refuge for them. As much as it is for everyone else. Why are you still talking as though it isn't? A Christian Ex-Muslim is more than capable of signing up to this forum and being a member with the same default posting privileges as the next person. What you're suggesting is giving them protection a degree above others.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

To exempt Christian ex-Muslims from the same questions and scrutiny that we apply to Muslims would cost not only our credibility and integrity - it would totally undermine every criticism we make of Islam - as well as undermine what we stand for. We are more than just a sanctuary for ex-Muslims.

You know I hadn't really thought it through before this thread, but yes, you know what - CEMB is basically an Atheist/Agnostic organistation.

I make no apology for that.

Christian ex-Muslims are welcome here and will get help & advice about the hardships and difficulties they are going through. People here at CEMB are a very decent bunch and they have a great deal of advice to offer in respect of real-life situations.

But if they want their beliefs protected - sorry! No can do!

Thanks Hassan, I never doubted this prinxciple. We should support all apostates and welcome all converts, and keep criticizing any religion. It's only fair to do that  Afro

    One more thing:

Ex-Muslim Christians at least have Church organistations fighting their corner.

    Atheist/Agnostic Ex-Muslims only have CEMB.

Is CEMB an unwelcoming place for Christians? Definitely not.

We have QueenIsabel who posts regularly; and from time to time Christian women pop in to seek advice because they're in a relationship with a Muslim man, and are under pressure by the family to convert, or because they've had a divorce with a Muslim and worry about situation of the children, etc.

Christians and Muslims can expect to have a good experience on the forum, as long as they aren't here for proselytizing purposes, or make personal attacks on others, or exhibit downright snooty arrogance.

As for why there isn't a greater proportion of ex-Muslim Christians, is because they have support to go to in real life. I don't see what great service this site would do them.

Fair enough. Long as we have a clear policy on such issues.

It sounds like a thread started by a Roman lion hungry for more food... yeah, I spose that could be musical.   dance

    LOL Tongue

    Okay, so our conclusions are:

    - Introduction threads should be, as much as possible, welcoming and new users should feel settled in before their ideas are challenged
    - Ex-Muslims who come here with any given position should not receive special/gentle treatment of their positions
    - CEMB is an agnostic/atheistic organization. Thus sayeth the mighty Hassan!

    Any more comments?

I like the first point and agree with the third one. Can you clarify the second mate? I missed that one.

Yeah I don't quite understand the second Huh?

Oh and I just remembered CEMB officially joined the Atheist Alliance International last month! Which kinda confirms that we are an Atheist/Agnostic organisation  grin12 (Don't know how I forgot about that as I filled out the fucking application forms myself lol  grin12).

That of course doesn't mean Christian Ex-Muslims are not welcome on the forum - of course they are - anyone is welcome here on the forum to discuss - and we welcome support for our campaigns from anyone (except of course fuckwits like EDL etc...).

But CEMB organisation/management committee itself is definitely Atheist/Agnostic.

    Haha, I see Tongue

Second point: If any ex-Muslim comes to this site, all their opinions are fair game (after they've settled down). No position whatsoever can be exempted from criticism, and no one can expect their views not to be challenged, or to be treated differently from other views.

Also, I'm sorta proud of myself for having drawn Hassan back to the forum, where everyone else seems to have done a great job ensnaring him Tongue
