Freelance stuff is good i suppose for temp stuff, not long term.

New survey:
2012 Freelance Industry ReportSome stats:
- 47.2% of freelancers surveyed said they're the primary income earners in their household, 16.4% said they're on par with another family member, 36.4% not primary earners.
- 90% are happier as freelancers (either strongly or moderately agree), 8% are undecided, 2% less happy.
- 58% feel more secure as freelancers, 20% are undecided, 22% less secure.
- 33% earn more as freelancers, 53% earn less, 14% haven't worked anything else so have nothing to compare with.
- 52% have more free time as freelancers, 26% have less, 21.6% said it's about the same.
- 43% said there's no way they'd go back to being an employee, 50% said it depends on the job, 5.3% said they'd absolutely go.
Overall, it seems that freelancers are happy with their jobs, the only downside being the lower pay--which is nevertheless mostly good enough for them to be the primary earners, and is also made up for by the increase in freedom. And it seems that, contrary to popular belief, most feel quite secure in their jobs.
