Actually Debunker there have been documented cases of female rape victims in KSA being punished. I'm not saying it happens to all rape victims but it does happen to some. Bear in mind that under sharia law a woman's word is not good enough. She has to supply male witnesses to the rape. I'm sure you already know this.

I already discussed this in another much older thread... there were a couple of cases that the raped women were punished... one case involved a Shia girl (if I remember correctly), and another involved a Pakistani girl...

They were punished not because they were women... they were punished because the first case involved a much despised minority and the second case involved an abused foreigner...

In normal cases, however, the rapist is tortured until he confesses.

I said in another thread the Saudi public is even more evil than their rulers and that's because of how they treat minorities (Shia) AND the monsterous treatment of Asian/South Asian workers... they treat them like animals and worse.

I remember a conversation between two aquaintances I cannot forget to this day...

Man#1: I heard our friend Fahad, got a new Beamer!
Man#2: Yeah, but the poor thing recked his car...
    Man#1: how?
Man#2: He was speeding and ran a red light when out of nowhere this indian guy crossed the street only to be smashed by our friend's car! the impact cracked the fucking indian's head and his brains and blood were all over the place! What an animal! It was absolutely disgusting!
Man#1: Oh, how sad! Fuck those indians! they scurry around the streets like rats.. so what did Fahad do with his car?
Man#2: He got rid of it... I told you the indian guy's brains and blood was everywhere...  Now he's got a Mercedes!

Of course, this attitude towards workers in that country is the reason why many Saudis don't even pay their workers their salaries...  (not to mention the constant insults and savage treatment in general).

And as I pointed out to you in that same thread, the Saudi royals could be at that same behaviour with foreign workers for all you know.  You most likely wouldn't hear about it even if they were abusing their foreign staff.

I have seen Saudi girls in Switzerland... they're not strict about the dress code... some of them even wear very revealing clothes in public places (I was once in a shopping distric in Lausanne, a seemingly Saudi girl was wearing very transparent clothes in the middle of the day, even the Swiss were looking at her in astonishment).

Dunno why, but this account made me laugh ..

You might be.  But I just checked on Atheist Nexus there are 17 atheists from Indonesia.  It seems none of them are ex-Muslims, but you could still check them out.  Atheists tend to be very nice people. Afro
    http://www.atheistnexus.org/profiles/members/search?name=&gender=&country=ID&location=&q31=&q32=&page=1

If I was in your boat, I would be contacting them on atheistnexus & via facebook, and getting them all to register here so you can build up your numbers and form together as a group.

I've stated before that some of my best friends are atheist Smiley
I'm not that lonely here  grin12
I even told some of my muslim friends here that I'm no more muslim, nothing change ever since, my last goal only to tell my parent, it going to be hard for them, and I don't like that,  Cry
Thank you ateapotist and IsLame Afro I might contact some of them later

I am very glad you have company, it can be hard when you always feel the "odd one out" and didnt want you to feel needlessly that way.  Anyhow pleased to hear you have atheists friends in Indonesia, bit surprised, but great to hear nonetheless.  Are they ex-muslim?  Have you introduced them to this site?

some of them are ex-muslim and some of them ex-christian, I've told some of them to come here, but they have such a lazy ass, but I'm gonna bring one of them here, soon :p

That's not true at all... apparently you've been reading a lot of propaganda and your parents not only don't allow you to use the phone, they must have banned you from watching the local TV, as well.

No. FYI, Saudi Arabia does not give the Saudi nationality to children from non-Saudi fathers... and assuming you got a Saudi passport somehow, you are Emarati first, Saudi second (although it's mind-boggling an Emarati family would leave the UAE and live in Saudi... just another mystery in your story).

Urmmm, my Muslim friend from Bangladesh would like to live in Saudi, it is no mystery to me, maybe they feel like they are going back to the roots of their faith?
  • Re: I am a FRESH ex Muslim ;)

If Saudis don't view her as a Saudi, then how can she refer to herself as a Saudi?

darkEyed is an American, she's an Emarati, but she's NOT a Saudi.

I refer to myself as part Welsh, I have never lived there and I do not speak Welsh, but I feel a connection, you got a problem with that? Given it's not very strong link, but I still support Wales in 6 Nation Rugby (Rygbi).

That's true, many British Muslims would like to go and live in Saudi Arabia (the land of the two Holy Mosques).

Oh what a fantastic form of justice, yano they could just confess by not wanting to be tortured any more. Truthfully, torture does not work.

Yes maybe Saudis are Arseholes, but I wouldn't support the Royals either, at least some of them do not want to get rid of the sick and pathetic Sh'aria law. And why are these Majority arseholes not punished for being dumb?

Political gain? If they were so good and so badly wanted Sh'aria gone, they have the authority to do it. Seeming as they don't this reflects badly on them, I can't help how i feel. Let's just leave this now.

I think what Lily is trying to say is, why are the Saudi royal family not abolishing Sharia altogether?  You say it's for political gain.  What? Are they afraid of losing power?  You mean if they abolish Sharia, the people will rebel and overthrow the powerful, iron-fisted, Saudi government?  Really?

    Because they will be fucked.

Yes. And they are even publically reminded, by the religious establishment, that they have no legitimacy to rule if they don't suck up to them.

Or at the very least, destablize their rule... in fact, they are currently so far away from what the clerics think the country should be like.. .

many years ago, a group of loonies took over the Grand Mosque in Mecca for the sole purpose of toppling the Royal family because they didn't think they were Muslim enough.

Ohhkay, I just didn't know that the Mullahs (possibly) had such a throttle on the Royals in Saudi. My point still stands though that they should try their hardest if this is the case to liberalise the Mullahs, they may do already. The royal family would have legitimacy if the mass of Saudis liked their direction, but I don't see a constitutional Monarchy arising any time soon, like in the UK. I should learn from my politics lessons that politics is complicated, which it so is, i guess I'm too idealistic, I tend not to see the shades of gray in situations.
