  • Who can't you forget?
     OP - June 22, 2010, 02:35 AM

Talk about a person who was close to you many years ago and you haven't talked to him/her for far too long, but you remember his/her impact in your life.
  • Re: Who can't you forget?

Can this include dead folks, or just people you haven't seen/spoken to in a long time?

    fuck you
  • Re: Who can't you forget?

I can't remember of anyone right now, I always keep contact of everyone who's ever close to me, if we don't contact each other for a long time it just means we were never that close

    Just about anybody and anything.

For me, I can't forget my first love (he is still alive). I haven't spoken to him face to face for years, but I still remember how he impacted me as if it was just yesterday. We broke up a long time ago because of sad family issues and I was too young, impatient at that time.

I remember how he used to place a silver bracelet on my hand and how he used to cry to me on the phone. I remember how he once wrote a sad letter telling me he wished I could find a guy who could take care of me better than him.

Sometimes while I'm in UK and he's far back in my home country (I'm an international student in UK), I would still wonder to myself if he'd be proud of me seeing how much I had changed.

He's probably changed a lot over the years. I don't know if he has forgiven me or not, sadly.

Sometimes I think even if I get married to another, I will still remember him this way.

I doubt it. How many years ago was this? Trust me, this stuff (first loves) really does fade over time. I mean, you'll always remember him and still think of him from time to time, but as the years go on, you'll think of him less frequently, and when you do the feelings won't be as strong. Well, unless you see him again, that is-- then who the hell knows?

As for me I miss and still think about my grandfather, my best friend from elementary school, and a former VP of one of my union's locals-- all dead. In fact, it's more common for me to think of dead friends and family than live ones I haven't seen or spoken to in a very long time-- probably because the reason I haven't seen or spoken to the live ones in a long time is that we just kinda drifted apart and I lost interest eventually.

There is one girl I still think about from time to time. Not a love of my life or anything, but a missed opportunity, and something that could've been the love of my life. She's still out there, not married, and a chance I could still get with her as we keep in sporadic contact, but she's on the West Coast and it's doubtful either one of us will be switching coasts anytime soon.

    fuck you

I still remember my old friends, but a lot of them don't impact my life that much anymore.

I get kind of confused about my feelings.. Maybe it's because several times when I felt sad and lost, I would still think of my first love. But it could be because of just comfort. Maybe I just miss him, and not because I'm still in love with him. Maybe it's because I'm still in my twenties and moving on to the outside world scares me at times (oh well). It's normal I suppose, I just have to deal with all my underlying issues.

Still it's kind of hard to let go of a guy like that. He never yelled at me or treated me harshly though I was harsh to him a lot of times. Plus, we wanted to marry each other but oh well, we failed halfway. My only hope is that he has a happy life now.

What can you remember most about your grandfather?

And how often do you keep in contact with the girl you still think of from time to time? *My vocab isn't that good haha*

:( I hope your pain eases. *hugs*

Some people make great impact on our lives, I can remember two such people both good friends.

One friend I knew since primary school and we went our different ways at the end of high school. We've tried to keep in contact, but it's been difficult due to busy lives. She was my best friend for a while, she was the senible and dependable friend, she was a great listener, we shared good times together. She's a muslim, she knows i'm an apostate, i think she's sad that I am and was shocked to hear of it, but we were still friends, she's a nice girl, good heart.

The other friend I only knew online, he's in the middle east (somewhere, he moved about, kuwait or jordan i think). He was there for me through some difficult times, we met when I posted my doubts of islam on some other forum about 5 or 6 years ago this was. So initially he wanted to help me with religion, but then for 2 years or so we were just friends, he'd listen to me and my troubles and help. I was going through a very low time in my life then and he was the only person I could talk to about things. He doesn't come online anymore, rarely and then we don't always talk.

I cherish the moments with them, and I will remember them as dear friends, who I will be there for if they need because they were there for me.

Yes for some reason this month I think about my first love more than usual. Even when I was with the guys after my first love, I still thought of my first love. I know it's been like, many years have passed already, but I still can't help but think of him at times. I hope through time, my guilt will be gone and I hope he's happy. I'm just kind of sad I didn't treat him properly but oh well I was too young at that time. I sometimes can't help but wonder what if, you know? He was an amazing soul. Kind, patient. He was going through a tougher time than me at that time, but he still chose to tolerate me even when I was harsh to him and tried his best to lift me up when I was down. You rarely get guys like that in today's world. I wish I can still wear that silver bracelet he gave me. I'm in UK and i think the bracelet is all the way back at home in my home country.

Stardust, you connected with a guy online? He impacted you even though you've both never met? There are a few people online I have never met in real life, but I am fond of them nevertheless.

Well, either you'll find someone else who will leave you with no regrets about the first guy, or someday you'll get back together with the first guy, or, ya know, the memories/emotions will just fade over time. It'll work itself out one way or another.

I used to think the same way of my ex (first love), thought that if I'm with someone else I might still remember him and all, but once you fall in love to other guy, that thought will start to fade away

My 3 best friends who are back in Iraq. We do keep in touch via Facebook and we talk on the phone every other month or so. I just wish we could all meet up for week. It's doable but I don't think it will happen in the near future.

And one of my exes. Although it was more of a fling than a relationship, she was the coolest of all my exes. She's now in the Middle East and sadly we haven't talked for more than a year.

Actually I am in love with another guy.. It's still complicated between me and him though (for certain reasons I'm too lazy to talk about in this forum). It's just I cannot help but think of my first love a lot these past few months. I mean I've had a couple of exes after my first love, but my first love was just simply amazing. He was kind even when my family was mean to him. He believed in me when others didn't. He would go out of the way to make me happy even when I was in the wrong. He always took out tissues whenever I cried and he was always over protective of me even when I hurt him. Oh well. That's just life. I was too young to realize how important he was to me.

I hope he's forgiven me already.

I think the label 'fling' or 'relationship' doesn't matter much, it's the chemistry that counts right? Perhaps you connected with her more than your other exes. Like perhaps she was both a friend and an ex?

Back in iraq? You mean they're soldiers or Iraqis?

yup, after I broke up with him, I had a couple of exes after that, what I mean with fall in love with someone else is the way you fell in love with you ex or even more, it takes time though, it took me almost 4 years  Tongue

Actually, I think there is someone in my life who's more important than my first love.

Maybe that's why I've been thinking of my first love..because of guilt that I'm moving on? I don't know, man. I know you're going to tell me I shouldn't feel guilty because it's most likely that my first love has moved on too.

Yes now I know I am starting to sound complex ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Only under the right circumstances-- I already had a good job lined up there that also paid enough to move my mom out there too. And the relationship would have to be VERY serious. I'm an East Coast guy. I like it better than the West Coast, all my friends and family are out here, and I probably couldn't take my guns legally with me to California either, owing to different laws.

maybe you haven't got the closure, my closure was after he wait for me for 3 years (we already broke up and I already with another man), I found out he fell in love with another girl, I was upset, we had a talk, I realized we will never be together anymore, but different cases have different story I guess, just go on with your life, sometimes it's just a phase  Wink

I do realize for all these years I've found it hard to let a guy 100% in because of my first love. Even though I find someone who's more important to me than my first love, I still haven't been able to let that someone 100% in (Does this make sense? I am being my complex self again)

Perhaps it's time for me to change. Try and move on from the guilt, the underlying issues, so forth. This year is the time that I admit to myself I should be more honest about my feelings (I hope I can control them too)

By the way he waited for you for 3 years, why did you get upset when he fell in love with another girl? It was just complicated eh?
