  • Asylum seekers in UK
     OP - June 28, 2010, 04:19 PM

Approximately 500.000 failed UK asylum seekers live in a limbo. They can't work, they can't claim benefits, they have nowhere to live. And their only means of survival is one £10 food voucher a week from Red Cross.

It's a shame, we can neither afford to feed and house them nor are we returning them.

A more active border approach should be taken, we should remove failed asylum seekers as soon as possible.

We should turn them into human batteries just the matrix and use their energy. ITs' labour fault that so many people have come through and those genuine people in need aren't being helped.

half a milllion? how do they get here? England is an island. don't tell me they all came through the chunnel. they've purposely come though loads of countries and crossed water to get here. but the land of free money and benefits is over thanks to the Tories who finally have gotten a grip.

I find it hilarious that the labour party is saying that a cap on immigration is going to hurt small businesses. they always use the example of Bangladeshi curry chefs. as if a) we need more curry houses b) only Bangladeshi can cook authentic curry c) the curry market is going to implode.

they've purposely come though loads of countries and crossed water to get here.

They were mostly brought here by human traffickers I would imagine.

but the land of free money and benefits is over thanks to the Tories who finally have gotten a grip.

Well the point of the article was that they are not entitled to any benefits.

Re. immigration - were your parents immigrants by any chance?

I read the article. I'll bet that a lot of them are involved in crime to supplicate their incomes. I don't blame them for that to survive. Their presence has an impact across the board on the general infrastructure and that's more then 10 quids worth.

re my parents they were indeed. They came here legally, didn't take any benefits, and didn't sponge off the system. Were your parent's the same by any chance?

what half a million people? pull the other one.

    Lol!
The grand total slowly accumulated over several years.
Quite a few have families; on top of that half a million is an estimate, there are between 300k and half a million failed asylum seekers in the UK.
I personally know a few asylum seekers that were given leave to remain and gained British passport and they all paid money to organized groups in order to gain entry to the UK.

I read the article. I'll bet that a lot of them are involved in crime to supplicate their incomes.

Actually the article states that most of them try and remain as invisible as possible and avoid anything that could bring them in contact with authorities.

re my parents they were indeed. They came here legally, didn't take any benefits, and didn't sponge off the system. Were your parent's the same by any chance?

Nope. They are very happy where they are.
I am an immigrant myself though.

I once read an article about asylum seekers in Japan. It was really shocking. Very very few are granted asylum there. I don't understand why the Japanese government is doing that.

Winning asylum cases doesn't seem to be easy at all...

Japan is a dead end. They don't particularly like foreigners. Not even temporary workers can apply for permeate status.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

I agree. Japan may be a great place to visit, but it isn't a good place to try to immigrate to. Think about Canada, USA, Britain, Germany, or (maybe) Australia instead. Once you settle somewhere else, you can always visit Japan to your heart's content.

I've been in touch with some Japanese people in their 20s and they're really friendly. They seem to be interested in people from other cultures. But what I usually hear about the Japanese is really depressing. I'm already aware of some of the negative things said about the Japanese though.

What I don't understand is that the Japanese government does so much to promote cultural understanding between the Japanese and people from all over the world (like the ship of world youth), but at the same time... -__-

Sigh. I really don't know what to do.

These countries have many Muslims right? One of the reasons why I want to go to Japan is that I won't see many of them there. OMG I really sound like a racist  wacko I just think that I'll feel more comfortable when I don't see Muslims around.

Its not racist, Islam's not a race Wink

Don't go to UK or Canada, any other country you're good to go, the populations there are quite small.

Lol, you are allowed to be rascist against your own people. I am sure you will have a great time in Japan. I have a friend that moved there to teach English over 10 years ago and he ended up marrying a Japanese girl and is still there. He is half Pakistani, half-Scottish and they accepted him fine.

From my limited knowledge of Japan, it seems they are really interested in foreigners. They seem to love and emulate American rap music and stuff. You will be very exotic out there, the Japanese guys will probably be crazy for you.

Yume, were you thinking of applying for asylum in Japan? If so, by what right?

^ No I'm not thinking of that........... I mean I can't do that... I would apply only if someone found out about my beliefs. I don't want to lose my mother!!

Ok I think now this explains why I said I don't know what to do... honestly I really don't know what I should do  Cry I guess the UK wouldn't accept my request because I've been there before. Maybe the other governments will also take my stay in UK into consideration. And of course your request is rejected when you don't apply on time.. in any country!

I'm afraid the diplomatic relations between my country and the other countries and the laws applicable in my country will be taken into account too. I think I should worry about that too because the problem is with my small community only, not the whole country! It is my 'sub-culture' that FGM'ed me and put the burqa on my face and told me not to drive a car and will force me to marry anyone they like. It is my community that I fear the most.

Honestly sometimes I think of killing myself to free myself of all these problems T_T but I'll wait...

by what right? maybe FGM and apostasy, and probably forced marriage (they're waiting for my cousin to propose to me wacko) my daughters won't be accepted in my society if they aren't circumcised and I'm already receiving messages threatening with death (I announced my apostasy on my blog that's quite popular in my country, and which is closed now)

I try so hard not to hurt my mother. It's complicated!

^^^ oh that's why I'd like to marry a Japanese man who'd come to my family to say hi and pretend to be Muslim with me. lol.

Damn, FGM? I thought you were somewhere in the gulf, does it happen in arab countries too?

Have you thought about going overseas under the pretense to study? Or going back to university, getting a degree that you can get a job through, then running away from home and getting a job?
