  • Kayserili apostate for about 3 years...
     OP - August 05, 2010, 07:25 PM

I've always been a strong believer untill I opened my heart and used my brain. lol
The problem with muslims is that they don't even consider the possibility that islam isn't true. I know because it took me a long time to get here.
I'm glad that I was able to think critically about islam and I've never been so happy. Smiley

Between my muslim friends sadly I'm the only apostate. I've had discusions but it's funny that otherwise intelligent people become sooooo narrowminded when it comes to religion.
Maybe a few discusions more and who knows...  Cheesy

Nice site btw, at least now I have the chance of meeting other apostates...

    Funny story there...

It was about 3 to 4 years ago when I started reading the Quran during the ramadan.
After a few days reading the Quran I came across this verse "They are not all alike. Of the People of the Scripture there is a staunch community who recite the revelations of Allah in the night season, falling prostrate (before Him). (113) They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency, and vie one with another in good works. These are of the righteous. (114) And whatever good they do, they will not be denied the meed thereof. Allah is Aware of those who ward off (evil). (115) " Quran 3:113-115
After this verse I was beginning to open my mind a bit, so I started reading the New Testemant from the Bible.
After reading the New Testament I was converted to christianity. I mean the story of Jesus was at that time very seducing and I was seduced. Smiley
I even went to church one time. Cheesy
A few months after that, I came across some documanteries about the universe and I became very interested in that.
it was the documantery from BBC "Space".
After watching it my whole life changed, I was reading about the creation from the Bible and the Quran and I talked with christians and muslims about that.
I mean now I know it took some billions of years to create the present universe we live in, in the Bible and Quran it says that "god" created the heaven and the earth in a few days.
I was starting to question religion as a whole from that point. And not long after that I became a happy atheist. Smiley

Didn't you also have to ask about all the biblical miracles?

I focused more on the creation, because that's something you can refute with science. Although those biblical miracles are just fairytales, argueing about that has got me nowhere.
