It's purported to be the true account of a Swedish woman married to a Jamaican man in the 60s. So far, she's found out that her husband has another girlfriend and is pimping that woman. I don't know what to make of it. It appears to be deliberately written in incorrect English which is weird. The preface (not by the author) is racist by today's standards. I've only read the first three chapters but it's interesting enough, as a piece of 20th century British history, that I'll finish it, insha Allah  grin12

I have. Your repeated claims that I have not merely demonstrate that your attempts to "nail" me as a racist have floundered in the sand.

Dude, you are a racist. When you discriminate between a person based on his faith you are a racist not in the sense of the word's definition, but in its essence of equality.

Scientology's gone on a mass advertising campaign.

Have to admit their commercials are mesmerizing, at least until "scientology.org" shows up.

Pretty much yes. And the fact that the native Americans are not a "single race" no more makes the recent incomers from EurAfricAsia  "native Americans" than the diversity of the indigenous people of the British Isles/Europe makes recent incomers from India or Africa "native" Britons/Europeans.

I don't believe in the divinity or resurrection of Jesus. I am no more a Christian that a person who does not believe in Sharia and Jihad is a Muslim - even though they may insist on calling themselves one.

BTW tabu. Islam "disses" Christianity. Christians - as does every other group - dissed by the Koran are perfectly entitled to diss Islam back. Are you a Muslim BTW?

People can label themselves anything they like.
I can label myself gay and not be into sucking dick, doesn't make me less gay.

    To your second question, no.
But my entire family is, and if you think that not believing in sharia and jihad makes you no longer a Muslim then you should travel sometime may I suggest Egypt , Morocco , Bahrain or Tunisia.

The rest of us are however are not obliged to accept the validity of such self-definitions any more than I am obliged to accept your labeling of me as a "Christian".

    Quote

That is because actively "sucking dick" is not an indispensible component of being gay. Saying "I reject sharia" or "eating Pork is perfectly Islamic", however, disqualifies someone from being accepted as a "Muslim" according to the Koran.

So these are exemplars of modern secular Muslim societies? My statement WAS slightly inaccurate since the following Koran verse establishes that someone can "submit" to Allah ie be a "Muslim" without inward belief:

The wandering Arabs say: We believe. Say : You believe not, but rather say "We SUBMIT," for the faith hath not yet entered into your hearts. Yet, if you obey Allah and His messenger, He will not withhold from you aught of your deeds. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (49.14)

However, being a "Muslim" still entails the OUTWARD acceptance/adherence of Islamic beliefs and practices and someone who openly denies the ongoing applicability of sharia and jihad has placed themselves firmly in the Kuffar camp according to the Koran.

No I don't. I don't for instance accept, as many here would have it, that  there is a clear BLACK AND WHITE dividing line between "Islamists" and an alleged anti-sharia/anti-jihad "vast majority of moderate Muslims".  Nor am not going to alter my opinions in the face of bad language and personal abuse.

The thing is that what you decide to label people is irrelevant to what they label themselves.  They can call themselves Muslim, and you can reject them because you are a secret Salafi, but that won't alter them calling themselves Muslim. I really don't think they give a rat's ass if you want to try and force them to accept a definition of Muslim.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Do you accept Koranically unsupportable self-definitions of people as "Muslim" as having equal validity as Koranically supportable ones?

lol I don't care what people call themselves.  I do call bullshit on disingenuous arguments though.  If someone wants to say that their Islam gives equal rights and then claims that giving women less than a full person's right to witness is equal rights I will call bullshit, but I won't call bullshit if they say that that passage no longer applies for whatever reason and God now wants to give women complete equal rights and he still wants to say he is a "Muslim" Im not going to force him to change his adjective so it fits my conceived notions of what Muslim is.  And I don't care if other Muslims call him apostates.  I came from a Christian religious sect that is deemed to be apostate from a large majority of Christians and yet I still considered myself a Christian.  Should non - Christians have come up to me and try and correct me?
