ol me love you long time  - is what CC will be hearing soon

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

There are few things in life more enjoyable than gnawing on a plate full of marinated and barbecued ribs in front of a table of vegetarians. Man I love doing that. Adds extra flavour and goodness. bunny

Trying to get an ex-muslim to eat pork is always one of the last hurdles in totally exorcising themselves from all the cultural habits of the faith.

Rather than a phobia , it's more s revulsion that's been conditioned by family and peer reinforcement.

I still can't bring myself to eat pork, the brain conditioning has been too strong. I'm trying to cut down on red meat , so I may never do either.

I was asked by an English friend who knows I'm an ex now why I don't try some pork now I 've left. This is the same guy who went to China recently and refused to drink the blood or eat the meat of a freshly killed snake in a restaurant. Neither could he bring himself he said , to eat dog , rat , horse meat , frogs , lizards , lambs brains or all the other things that culturally are not conventional dishes here in Britain.

Post of the month.... Well said, and summarized it all.

I have been ex-M for many many years now, and not sure I can enjoy pork, although I have many times accidentally eat it. I don't mind trying it though.

I found the thought of eating pork was disgusting even months after I left Islam, too. But I think I've managed to get rid of the phobia now - thanks to my friend who kept making fun of my pig phobia Cheesy - because I really want to try it now.

Haven't got a chance yet though. Oh, and I also haven't been porked. Cheesy Damnit, my life as an ex-Muslim is so boring.  mysmilie_977

I'll try anything. I think rationalization can overcome instilled fears that do actually have evolutionary advantages, hence why it is so powerful.

    Why I can't eat pork?

Its because every time I eat meat, I think about the brutality that took place to the animal to feed me. Why would I all of a sudden start eating another animal?

Yeah, but pizza was invented in Italy and further developed in the US (in New York, New Haven, Providence, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis), our country giving it worldwide popularity. If pizza, as a worldwide culinary phenomenon, was born in Italy, it grew up in the US, which is where pineapple was first put on pizza too.

I don't tell you how to grill your roo steaks.

Bollocks. I used to know an Italian dude (as in real Italian, not born somewhere else of Italian descent) who flatly refused to put pineapple on his pizzas. Someone even walked into his place with a can of pineapple and offered him a grand if he'd make a pizza with pineapple. He still refused. The man knew his pizza and he had principles.  cool2

Gotta agree with Q-man on this one. If you don't know how much wonder can pineapple do on pizza, you don't know pizza at all.

I agree, you can't simply ask some totally different object to add on someone's signature recipe. In a potluck I thrown, my Chinese friend was about to put his boiled rice on my biriyani, I stopped him right there!
