Quake shifted island, sped up Earth's rotation
    Quote
The changes may be imperceptible to most people, but the massive earthquake that struck off the coast of Japan Friday had a startling impact on the Earth, experts say. The 8.9-magnitute quake moved Japan's main island by more than two metres, in addition to shifting Earth on its axis and briefly speeding up its rotation.

But here are a few gems from the Islamic Awakening forums.

Ask them what specifically the Japanese did to incur punishment from Allah.

A good friend of mine is originally from Sendai which was heavily hit by tsunami but luckily her parents are ok, their house is located in an area that remained dry. She was really concerned about their safety thought because power and mobile phone networks are still mostly down in Sendai hence she was initially unable to reach her parents on their mobiles. This really is an unbelievable tragedy, it's probably the worst quake in Japan ever.

What did she say when that quake/floods hit Pakistan or when tsunami hit Bangladesh?

Here's basically where things stand (based on the "official" stories), for the 10 total reactors at both "Fukushima" nuclear plants ...

    Fukushima Daiichi (aka Fukushima I):
    6 Reactors at this site.

    * Reactor #1: TEPCO is trying to kill it with Seawater and Boric Acid. <-- This is the one that experienced the "explosion" earlier.
    * Reactor #2: "Current reactor water level is lower than normal level".
    * Reactor #3: TEPCO is "injecting water containing boric acid" into this one too. <-- This is the one people are talking about also possibly building to an "explosion" like Reactor #1 (above) did.
    * Reactor #4: Was shut-down prior to quake, for maintenance/inspections. No reported issues.
    * Reactor #5: Was shut-down prior to quake, for maintenance/inspections. No reported issues.
    * Reactor #6: Was shut-down prior to quake, for maintenance/inspections. No reported issues.

    Fukushima Daini (aka Fukushima II):
    4 Reactors at this site.

    * Reactor #1: "partial discharge of air containing radioactive materials" being considered to help relieve pressure.
    * Reactor #2: "partial discharge of air containing radioactive materials" being considered to help relieve pressure.
    * Reactor #3: "partial discharge of air containing radioactive materials" being considered to help relieve pressure.
    * Reactor #4: Was shut-down because of quake. No reported issues.

This morning she said "did you hear about what happened to Japan?". I told her that the Earthquak is a result of a fault lines that run close to the Japanese coast. when they cross each other the result is a quake, and the shock waves will travel until they meet an object in its path (i.e Japan) the enegy will spread until there is none left. Then she said "why don't they move?"  Cheesy I told her Japan is a country that is use to small quakes and their buildings have springs that absorb the quake energy. Then she said "those Japanese are clever!"

At least 10,000 feared dead in Japan disaster: police says news from http://www.dawn.com/2011/03/13/meltdowns-may-have-occurred-in-two-reactors-japan-govt.html
    Quote
TOKYO: Japan’s government said Sunday it expects the economic impact of Friday’s huge 8.9-magnitude quake, and the devastating tsunami that followed, to be “considerable”.,,,,

The government has said at least 1,000 people were believed to have lost their lives, but the police chief in badly hit Miyagi prefecture said the death toll there alone is certain to exceed 10,000.

worse is Nuclear reactor on to of these faults.

I am surprised, Japan didn't move or shut down that 40 year old plant..

    Quote
The Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant (福島第一原子力発電所, Fukushima Dai-Ichi Genshiryoku Hatsudensho?, Fukushima I NPP, 1F), often referred to as Fukushima Dai-ichi, is a nuclear power plant located in the town of Okuma in the Futaba District of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The plant consists of six boiling water reactors. These light water reactors have a combined power of 4.7 GW, making Fukushima I one of the 25 largest nuclear power stations in the world. Fukushima I was the first nuclear plant to be constructed and run entirely by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO).

    Fukushima I – 1    BWR-3    October 1970[8]    460 MW    General Electric    Ebasco    Kajima
    Fukushima I – 2    BWR-4    July 18, 1974    784 MW    General Electric    Ebasco    Kajima
    Fukushima I – 3    BWR-4    March 27, 1976    784 MW    Toshiba    Toshiba    Kajima

    Fukushima I – 5    BWR-4    April 18, 1978    784 MW    Toshiba    Toshiba    Kajima
    Fukushima I – 6    BWR-5    October 24, 1979    1,100 MW    General Electric    Ebasco    Kajima

    Fukushima I – 7 (planned)    ABWR    October 2016[10]    1,380 MW
    Fukushima I – 8 (planned)    ABWR    October 2017[10]    1,380 MW

Zee.. The power hungry world..  At least the countries should move the plants out of that Earth Quake zones.. why build the plants on top of on top plate tectonics movement..

what is there in religions .. they are silly statements of books.. some good ..some useless and some outright nonsense.  We must also make a note here, That was the experimental time of Nuclear Bombs  and American didn't even imagine how deadly the bombs were and on top of it add the Japanese atrocious war policy.

You have to realize here if Japanese  or  Hitler  had those bombs,  they  would have dropped not two but 200..

Seriously this sucks, why did this have to happen to such a good country, why couldn't it have happened in fucking saudia arabia or something, at least that would've given muslims something to think about.

It is only by combing the information furnished by all the earth sciences that we can hope to determine 'truth' here, that is to say, to find the picture that sets out all the known facts in the best arrangement and that therefore has the highest degree of probability. Further, we have to be prepared always for the possibility that each new discovery, no matter what science furnishes it, may modify the conclusions we draw."

That's beautiful. Thanks for posting it. It is really nice to hear and see these stories, whether of humans or other animals being rescued. Among so much constant bad news, it's a huge relief to know that there's still love, kindness and empathy in people, even as they go through such disastrous events.

Wegener came up with Continental drift in 1911 he could not put a mechanism to how the continents drifted so it was not accepted at the time and he was ridiculed.
Plate tectonics was accepted around 1967 which gave continetal drift a mechanism which was long after Wegener died.
Wegener gets the credit for continental drift.

Really hope the Japanese people get through this alright. Such a hit to the already feeble economy. The Japanese play a huge role in the world today. Hopefully their social capital will shine through and bring them together.
