    Hi all

I am an ex christian but an equal opportunity a(nti)theist   Wink

Been debating some muslims on another forum wrt the "religion of peace" and am constantly being told I am talking what I read on the news etc. far too literally and that these perpetrators of public mutilations and floggings are just bad people that have misinterpreted the quran.

I came across this site yesterday and been reading some and interesting that the sentiments pretty much parallel those of ex-christians.

I really do not have the time nor the inclination to study islam simply to debate another fundie sect so here is perhaps where I would hope to get insider info so to speak.

I am from SA and have many dealings with moderate muslims and my ex doctor was muslim that delivered both my children.  I am male BTW. He is retired now but one hell of a nice fellow.

I am not known for holding my punches so if this in anyway offends, please accept my apologies.

Woohooo I am no longer the only Souf Efrican here - I am still a closeted ex-muslim, told my wife's cousin in the week that I am a non-believer and he was cool with it but he is very very very liberal in his thinking.

Hey, welcome. We're sure to be able to give you the inside info on Islam etc, and we also enjoy debating muslims (most of us anyway), so you can also feel free to invite your muslim friends here.  Smiley

    Hi Dr_Z

Where in SA are you from?  I am in a hick town called Kriel in MP where the power stations are.

Most muslims I have had dealings with are no ways fundy as I have seen online in the USA forums.  I will say for the most part, they are honest businessmen in comparison to their xian counterparts.  But then we infidels have always supported the muslim businessmen and there are no tensions between xians and muslims.  As you say we are all just Souf Efricans. Smiley

I am pretty well studied in my ex faith and debating woo woos is becoming boring, I needed a new challenge.

@donatelo, yeah that was a weird sentence and had not updated the profile to indicate I had the dangly bits Smiley

I am originally from Cape Town but living in Joburg now. I usually frequent the MyBroadband forums in the philosophical area, but hardly debate there - just reading peoples views. Yeah in SA most muslims are not extreme and very open minded
