     OP - April 10, 2011, 12:05 PM

    Hi guys! (and girls),

I had already announced a while ago that I was going to do research after the experiences of ex-Muslims for my master dissertation in psychology (and a subsequent publication, hopefully). I am hoping it will help make the academic world aware of the problems ex-Muslims are facing.
This is the part where I actually need your help. In order for the results to be valid, I need enough people to answer my questionnaire. It would help me a lot if you are willing to participate! It is totally anonymous.

Below is the link to the survey:
    http://www.exmuslimsurvey.org/

I cannot let you know any individual 'scores' as I am not able to see who answered what exactly myself. However, I’ll be happy to let you know the results when my dissertation is finished (in June) and will post a short summary of the results on the forum.

    Thank you,
    Suzanne.

P.S. You can only answer the survey once, so please do it all in one run! Smiley
P.P.S.S. Because psychological research requires people to be 'naive' when answering the study, I would ask you to not discuss the survey (i.e. specific questions) too much on the forum. I'll explain the use of all the questions once the research is done, and then I encourage discussion, but in this stage it is important for the validity of the research that people who enter the survey know little about it. If you do want to ask me something about a specific question/part of the research, you can always send me a private message!

Done.  Don't know if it was my browser, but the last round of questions were really spaced out, I had to scroll far down to find the answers to the 1st question, and scroll down in huge chunks thereafter to answer the rest.

Maybe you should clarify if it's a non-muslim crow or a combination of both muslims and non-muslims.

some of the questions related to the health etc seemed a bit out of place? e.g what do they have to do with being ex muslim? also, what type of research are you doing?

Yea, the health ones made me pause for a moment.  But fuck it, I was bored anyway and it didn't seem overly evasive, and if was anonymous so meh.

It did remind me that I want to make an indepth poll here to see depression rates amongst ex muslims.

Hey, yes I get that that seems confusing. I'm connecting a number of ex-Muslim-questions to health. I can't say exactly how, at least not here (I can send you a private message if you want?) because psychological research needs people to be 'naive' about the predictions of the study - otherwise they may start to answered (consciously or unconsciously) in a biased manner and then the results are no longer valid. So I'm sorry my hands are a little tied - but will all become clear when the research is done, I'll explain then! To answer your other question: it is social psychological research - more specifically psychology of religion.

For me I'm only uncomfortable around muslims. I have no problems with anybody else.

I hope you were able to specify that in the subsequent questions? It was asked more specifically after, right? Also.. I know this seems a little anal, but could you guys try to not post too much info about the survey on the forum? (i.e. which questions are posed) cause again, it may bias people. Psychological research is tedious in that way, I'm sorry. I know it can't be prevented all together, but maybe a little bit..  wacko

Yupp. Subsequently clarified. And I edited my post. You should put a disclaimer in your first post might prevent further leaks.

Thanks to Naerys and Virav5, and thanks to Islame for trying at least.. Pity you had to give up  :-( I know it takes a little bit, but it doesn't take that long does it? I asked some friends beforehand to try it and most of them said it took anywhere between 10&20 min..

Just an FYI, I don't think all questions are required, if you wanted to you could skip the questions you didn't want to answer.

Yup. Preferably do all, but if you really don't want to answer something, you are not required to. But it does really help if you do answer all.

Done and Done. Please do publish your research here. We have had many threads discussing some of these issues but nothing to really put it in an empirical data format.

I'm just asking because the one I usually recommend to people has 144 questions, much longer than this test, and I was sure you had done the test I suggested.  :-/

Which made your post all the more surprising.

Come on people it's a helpful survey and it takes tops 15 minutes of your time. You've wasted more times browsing Youtube videos of cats and crying babies.
