  • Reading Quran And Inquiring in to Prophet Muhammad's Life from Quran
     Reply #240 - December 03, 2017, 05:24 PM

Well after reading Quran  so many times still  read quite often there is hardly anything on prophet of  Islam and his life.  Although we can get lot more stories and information from hadith  and its stories  very little is  written i Quran.     But Islamic intellectuals  specially from Pakistan extract  all sorts of information from Quran  on Prophet Muhammad    and they publish often in newspapers.,    With Politics, Elections  and that   "Finality of Prophet-hood of Muhammad (PBUH)"    being the  only important  hot subject in land of pure  where people get killed on it..

And today Qasim A. Moini    writes On Prophet Muhammad from Quran well  let me  read and lear from it

    Quote
THE Holy Quran has used a number of sublime terms to describe the Blessed Prophet (PBUH). On this day associated with his birth, it would be useful to ponder over some of these metaphysical terms used by the Almighty in His Book about His Prophet to gain a better understanding of the Messenger’s personality, and what lessons these titles hold for mankind.

In verse 46 of Surah Ahzab, the Almighty describes the Prophet as “an illuminating lamp (Sirajam muneera)”. Just as a lamp dispels darkness, through His Prophet, Allah seeks to illuminate the souls of mankind.

At another place in the Holy Book, the Creator has termed the Prophet “a mercy to the worlds” (21:107). It is worth noting that here the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful is describing the Prophet as a manifestation of His mercy.

Harsh actions are antithetical to what the Prophet (PBUH) taught.

At yet another point in the Quran Allah proclaims about His Prophet: “And indeed, you are of a great moral character (khulqin azeem)” (68:4).

While nearly all Muslims with a basic knowledge of the Quran are aware of these mystical terms used for the Holy Prophet, how many pause to actually think about what these terms imply when we consider the fact that the Quran also terms the Messenger “uswatul hasana (an excellent example)” for humanity?

This “excellent example” has variously been described as a source of light, compassion and moral distinction. Yet is it not unfortunate that many who claim to love and follow the Prophet are actually doing exactly the opposite of what emulating this example demands, with most Muslim societies lacking the light of knowledge, benevolence and compassion, as well as superior ethics?

    Quote
Perhaps the reason for this discrepancy is that despite claiming to love and follow the Holy Prophet, Muslims today have forgotten what the Messenger himself said about his primary task in this world: as quoted in a hadith, the Prophet said that he has been sent “to perfect the morals”. Put plainly, without controlling the self and constantly battling our inner demons that drive us towards negative behaviour, we will not be able to grasp the spiritual light of the Prophet that illuminates hearts — the lamp mentioned in the Quran. Praising him is an act of devotion; acting upon his guidelines is even more important.

But in this day and age of great trials and tribulations, where so many claim to be representing ‘true faith’, where is this guidance and light that the Holy Book talks about to be found? Indeed, for the seeker of truth, the pitfalls are many. For example, there are numerous self-appointed ‘defenders of faith’ whose harsh actions, forked tongues and rabble-rousing antics are completely antithetical to what the Prophet has taught.

In the words of Hazrat Ali, “Through him [the Prophet] the signs of guidance have been lighted and the gloom of blindness (misguidance) has been dispelled”. Perhaps to seek this ‘light’, rather than trying to fix the world, one must engage in what has been described in ahadith as jihad al-akbar, or combat with the self. Without such self-examination and criticism, whether one is dressed in the flowing robes of a cleric, or in any other get-up, spiritual enlightenment and moral excellence will be difficult to achieve.

It is the pettiness and meanness within — greed, malice, envy, love of material pleasures — that must be conquered. This is the essence of what the Prophet has taught us. To treat the weak and downtrodden with kindness, to stand up to the oppressor, to work for a more just and egalitarian society — these noble goals, arguably, lie at the heart of the Sunnah.

But are these ideals — both at the societal and individual levels — even a priority for us? For centuries, saints, seekers and sages have used the Prophet’s example for khudsaazi, or to ‘build the self’; these formulae are not just for intellectual consumption, but for emulation. There is a giant moral vacuum in our world, particularly in Muslim societies, where there is an overdose of religiosity, but very little spirituality.

Emulation doesn’t mean literally and ritualistically adopting the ways of the seventh century; rather it means living as per the requirements of the age, but with a firm moral anchor that can help one differentiate between right and wrong.

Beyond words, beyond loud protestations of faith and beyond rhetoric, it is strength of character that is needed to build society and the self. And as the verses from the Quran have illustrated here, the guiding light of the spirit is the sacred personality of the Holy Prophet. The Holy Book sums it up best in this beautiful verse: “Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation (33:56).”

So there we are . As I reject that stupid hadith completely hence I reject Prophet of Islam  story from that highlighted hadith in quotes in the above article .. So what I left  from the above article on Prophet of Islam  is  the following verses from Quran  from Mr.  qasim.moini@dawn.com
    Quote

    Quote
    Surah 21 ........Al-Anbya ......... verse 107

Transliteration:    Wama arsalnaka illa rahmatan lilAAalameena

Yusuf Ali :    We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures.

Mohsin Khan:    And We have sent you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

Shakir :    And We have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds.

Saheeh: 107:    And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.

    Quote
     Surah 33...  Al-Ahzab  ....  verse 46

Transliteration 46:    WadaAAiyan ila Allahi biithnihi wasirajan muneeran

Yusuf Ali :    And as one who invites to Allah's (grace) by His leave, and as a lamp spreading light.

Shakir:    And as one inviting to Allah by His permission, and as a light-giving torch.

Mohsin Khan: 46:    And as one who invites to Allah [Islamic Monotheism, i.e. to worship none but Allah (Alone)] by His Leave, and as a lamp spreading light (through your instructions from the Qur'an and the Sunnah - the legal ways of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم ).

Saheeh:   And one who invites to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp.

    Quote
     Surah 33...  Al-Ahzab  ....  verse 56

Transliteration :    Inna Allaha wamalaikatahu yusalloona AAala alnnabiyyi ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo salloo AAalayhi wasallimoo tasleeman

Yusuf Ali:    Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.

Shakir :       Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who believe! call for (Divine) blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation.

Mohsin Khan:    Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy) on the Prophet (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and also His angels (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. As-Salamu 'Alaikum ).

Saheeh:   Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.

well that is  what those verses say.,    and  I REJECT & DELETE   nonsense that these foolish  translators add  there own  words in to Quran .,  So  after that if we read those verses  carefully., I can safely say

1).  Those three  verses are  general statements that will fit to  any alleged prophet  of  any time  and are NOTHING TO DO PROPHET OF ISLAM..

2)..Fools take  random verses from Quran and  attribute them to Prophet of Islam  who allegedly named as  "Muhammad".  And again  we must realize here,  that Arabic  word "Muhammad"  could be used   as  an adjective  to any name., to any person  at any time . that words simply means "A leader "..

So at the end  those  verses  are NOTHING TO DO WITH PROPHET OF ISLAM

Mock  the fools and move on...................

well   reading Quran ,  asking simple  questions such as

    ..Who wrote Quran? .
    Who compiled Quran
    Who was Quranic Muhammad ?

looking for critical answers  to  such simple questions using brain  is really taxing. Hence   this folder of "Inquiring in to Prophet Muhammad's Life   from Quran"    often goes down the drain due to many distractions well   let us start reading Quran again..  So  this iswhat i wrote some 8 months ago  on chapter 51  "Yunus "

Out 114 chapters of Quran we read 50 chapters  through its alleged revelation order without learning anything about Prophet of Islam.,  Well there is NOTHING IN IT to learn about prophet of Islam ...  anyway  let us read  that chapter 51 .  And that Chapter 51 is supposed to Chapter10  of the book with some   109   verses and allegedly revealed in  Mecca and its name is  "Yunus " .,   well that is whole chapter all 109 verses of it.,  Let me read it again to find wisdom and to find history of early Islam from those verses ..

So  our next Quran chapter  surah  52  is  chapter  11   of the book  named as    "Hud "      with some 123  verses allegedly revealed at     Macca.

well   before i read  that chapter  let me add another Quran translation   pdf file Muhammad A. S. Abdel Haleem  Quran translation here..

    Quote
Muhammad A. S. Abdel Haleem, OBE, FCIL, is Professor of Islamic Studies at SOAS, University of London[1] in London, England, and editor of the Journal of Qur'anic Studies.[2]

Born in Egypt, Abdel Haleem learned the Qur'an by heart during his childhood, and is now a hafiz.[3][4] In 2004, Oxford University Press published his translation of the Qur'an into English. He has also published several other works in this field.[1]

Abdel Haleem claims to abide by the Qur'an and authentic prophetic teachings as a practicing Muslim.[5] He argued, for example, that British Muslims, until they gave up their citizenship or permit to live in United Kingdom, could not fight against British forces in the Afghanistan conflict.[6]

Abdel Haleem was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's 2008 Birthday Honours.[7] in recognition of his services to Arabic culture, literature and to inter-faith understanding.

that is from  wiki....  A good man from Egypt who lives in United Kingdom

well  let me read a bit of his Quran...

So  our next Quran chapter  surah  52  is  chapter  11   of the book  named as    "Hud "      with some 123  verses allegedly revealed at     Macca.
    ...............
well  let me read a bit of his Quran...

So  on   March 19, 2018   Cheesy   let me read that Surah HUD   chapter  11   of the book  but  it is actually   surah  52 in the  order  of revelation.  It has some 123 verses init

well  for fun let me read some 30 verses or so   from that Muhammad A. S. Abdel Haleem  Quran translation   and compare that from say ... YusuAli  or Shakir  or  Saheeh  translations of Quran

    Quote
    11. HUD  .....   Muhammad A. S. Abdel Haleem  Quran translation

A Meccan sura named after the prophet Hud whose story is given in verses 50–60. It begins by announcing that the Prophet is sent both to warn and to give good news, and the body of the sura focuses on the warning aspect: God watches over everything and is aware of all that people do (verses 5–6, 111–12, 123). The many stories of past prophets, which serve to warn the disbelievers, also strengthen the heart of the Prophet (verse 120).

    Quote
1Alif Lam Ra [This is] a Scripture whose verses are perfected, then set out clearly, from One who is all wise, all aware. 2[Say, Prophet], ‘Worship no one but God. I am sent to you from Him to warn and to give good news. 3Ask your Lord for forgiveness, then turn back to Him. He will grant you wholesome enjoyment until an appointed time, and give His grace to everyone who has merit. But if you turn away, I fear you will have torment on a terrible Day: 4it is to God that you will all return, and He has power over everything.’ 5See how they [the disbelievers] wrap themselves up, to hide their feelings from Him. But even when they cover themselves with their clothes, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal: He knows well the innermost secrets of the heart. 6There is not a creature that moves on earth whose provision is not His concern. He knows where it lives and its [final] resting place: it is all [there] in a clear record. 7It is He who created the heavens and the earth in six Days a ––His ruleb extends over the watersc too––so as to test which of you does best. Yet [Prophet], if you say to them, ‘You will be resurrected after death,’ the disbelievers are sure to answer, ‘This is clearly nothing but sorcery.’ 8If We defer their punishment for a determined time, they are sure to say, ‘What is holding it back?’ But on the Day it comes upon them, nothing will divert it from them; what they mocked will be all around them. 9How desperate and ungrateful man becomes when We let him taste Our mercy and then withhold it! 10And if We let him taste mercy after some harm has touched him, he is sure to say, ‘Misfortune has gone away from me.’ He becomes exultant and boastful.

11Not so those who are steadfast and do good deeds: they will have forgiveness and a great reward. 12So [Prophet] are you going toa abandon some part of what is revealed to you, and let your heart be oppressed by it, because they say, ‘Why is no treasure sent down to him? Why has no angel come with him?’? You are only there to warn; it is God who is in charge of everything. 13If they say, ‘He has invented it himself,’ say, ‘Then produce ten invented suras like it, and call in whoever you can beside God, if you are truthful.’ 14If they do not answer you, then you will all know that it is sent down containing knowledge from God, and that there is no god but Him. Then will you submit to Him? 15If any desire [only] the life of this world with all its finery, We shall repay them in full in this life for their deeds– they will be given no less– 16but such people will have nothing in the Hereafter but the Fire: their work here will be fruitless and their deeds futile. 17Can they be compared to those who have clear proof from their Lord, b recited by a witness from Him,c and before it the Book of Moses, as a guide and mercy? These people believe in it, whereas those groups that deny its truth are promised the Fire. So have no doubt about it [Prophet]: it is the Truth from your Lord, though most people do not believe so. 18Who could do more wrong than someone who invents lies about God? Such people will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, ‘These are the ones that lied about their Lord.’ God’s rejection is the due of those who do such wrong, 19who hinder others from God’s path, trying to make it crooked, and deny the life to come. 20They will not escape on earth, and there will be no one other than God to protect them. Their punishment will be doubled. They could not hear, and they did not see.

well those  are 20 verses  of Quran from that  Muhammad A. S. Abdel Haleem  Quran.... damn  this  flat wall  writing Quran is hard to read..   any way that is what it is in that Surah 52..."hud"

George Michael was a homosexual, and a soul who desired this contemptible world, and he got this world, but look at his end. He died fat, ugly and alone, with no one beside him. And whoever chooses the life of this world, according to Christianity and Islam, their destination is hell.

    Enjoy.

Whereas you spend your time on the internet telling people how they deserve to go to hell. It sounds like you're already in hell, to be honest, and I have no idea why you might want to inflict that on us. Either way, you're better off doing it elsewhere.

    Bye.

Well  let us read some 10 verses  surah HUD from Muhammad A. S. Abdel Haleem   translation  as well as Muhammad Shakir translation...

    Quote
1:  Alif Lam Ra [This is] a Scripture whose verses are perfected, then set out clearly, from One who is all wise, all aware.
    1.   Alif Lam Ra (This is) a Book, whose verses are made decisive, then are they made plain, from the Wise, All-aware:

2:  [Say, Prophet], ‘Worship no one but God. I am sent to you from Him to warn and to give good news.
    2.   That you shall not serve (any) but Allah; surely I am a warner for you from Him and a giver of good news,

3:  Ask your Lord for forgiveness, then turn back to Him. He will grant you wholesome enjoyment until an appointed time, and give His grace to everyone who has merit. But if you turn away, I fear you will have torment on a terrible Day:
    3.   And you that ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him; He will provide you with a goodly provision to an appointed term and bestow His grace on every one endowed with grace, and if you turn back, then surely I fear for you the chastisement of a great day.

4:  it is to God that you will all return, and He has power over everything.’
    4.   To Allah is your return, and He has power over all things.

5:   See how they [the disbelievers] wrap themselves up, to hide their feelings from Him. But even when they cover themselves with their clothes, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal: He knows well the innermost secrets of the heart.
    5.   Now surely they fold up their breasts that they may conceal (their enmity) from Him; now surely, when they use their garments as a covering, He knows what they conceal and what they make public; surely He knows what is in the breasts.

6:  There is not a creature that moves on earth whose provision is not His concern. He knows where it lives and its [final] resting place: it is all [there] in a clear record.
    6.   And there is no animal in the earth but on Allah is the sustenance of it, and He knows its resting place and its depository all (things) are in a manifest book.

7:  It is He who created the heavens and the earth in six Days a ––His ruleb extends over the watersc too––so as to test which of you does best. Yet [Prophet], if you say to them, ‘You will be resurrected after death,’ the disbelievers are sure to answer, ‘This is clearly nothing but sorcery.’
    7.   And He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods-- and His dominion (extends) on the water-- that He might manifest to you, which of you is best in action, and if you say, surely you shall be raised up after death, those who disbelieve would certainly say: This is nothing but clear magic.

8:  If We defer their punishment for a determined time, they are sure to say, ‘What is holding it back?’ But on the Day it comes upon them, nothing will divert it from them; what they mocked will be all around them.
    8.   And if We hold back from them the punishment until a stated period of time, they will certainly say: What prevents it? Now surely on the day when it will come to them, it shall not be averted from them and that which they scoffed at shall beset them.

9:  How desperate and ungrateful man becomes when We let him taste Our mercy and then withhold it!
    9.   And if We make man taste mercy from Us, then take it off from him, most surely he is despairing, ungrateful.

10:  And if We let him taste mercy after some harm has touched him, he is sure to say, ‘Misfortune has gone away from me.’ He becomes exultant and boastful.
    10.   And if We make him taste a favor after distress has afflicted him, he will certainly say: The evils are gone away from me. Most surely he is exulting, boasting;

And the bold one above is  Abdel Haleem   translation..  Any difference between the two? not much .. A  word here and there is different with same meaning

well this folder went down the drain ... it says no posts for the past 120 days.. So let me add these PDF files of books that tells us HOW TO READ QURAN...

    Quote
John Edward Wansbrough (February 19, 1928 – June 10, 2002) was an American historian who taught at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).

By his fundamental criticism of the historical credibility of the classical Islamic narratives concerning Islam's beginnings and his attempt to develop an alternative, historically more credible version of Islam's beginnings, Wansbrough founded the so-called "revisionist" school of Islamic Studies.

and that is edited by  Ibn Warraq

    Quote
This excellent collection of critical commentaries on the Koran brings together outstanding articles by noted scholars from the beginning of the 20th century to recent times. These important studies, as well as the editor's own lengthy introduction, show that little about the text of the Koran can be taken at face value. Among the fascinating topics discussed is evidence that early Muslims did not understand Muhammad's original revelation, that the ninth-century explosion of literary activity was designed to organize and make sense of an often incoherent text, and that much of the traditions surrounding Muhammad's life were fabricated long after his death in an attempt to give meaning to the Koran. Also of interest are suggestions that Coptic and other Christian sources heavily influenced much of the text and that some passages reflect even an Essenian background reaching back to the community of the Dead Sea Scrolls. This valuable compilation will be a welcome resource to interested lay readers and scholars alike.

well download and read the books then read Quran.. again and again..

well that is what I wrote way back in October 18, 2017, 05:12 PM., Indeed there is wisdom in some Quran verses but there is very little about history of early Islam  and identity of Prophet of Islam., anyway  let me read next  chapter and that is CHAPTER-52  and that is chapter11 in the book.. It is HUD., is it about Prophet Hud?? Nah.. who is HUD? whoever.. whatever... we don't care .. we just read Quran .. Book of allah...   that  Chapter 52 "HUD" has 123 verses  allegedly revealed in Mecca

    Quote
1   Alif Lam Ra (This is) a Book, whose verses are made decisive, then are they made plain, from the Wise, All-aware:

2   That you shall not serve (any) but Allah; surely I am a warner for you from Him and a giver of good news,

3   And you that ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him; He will provide you with a goodly provision to an appointed term and bestow His grace on every one endowed with grace, and if you turn back, then surely I fear for you the chastisement of a great day.

4   To Allah is your return, and He has power over all things.

5   Now surely they fold up their breasts that they may conceal (their enmity) from Him; now surely, when they use their garments as a covering, He knows what they conceal and what they make public; surely He knows what is in the breasts.

6   And there is no animal in the earth but on Allah is the sustenance of it, and He knows its resting place and its depository all (things) are in a manifest book.

7   And He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods-- and His dominion (extends) on the water-- that He might manifest to you, which of you is best in action, and if you say, surely you shall be raised up after death, those who disbelieve would certainly say: This is nothing but clear magic.

8   And if We hold back from them the punishment until a stated period of time, they will certainly say: What prevents it? Now surely on the day when it will come to them, it shall not be averted from them and that which they scoffed at shall beset them.

9   And if We make man taste mercy from Us, then take it off from him, most surely he is despairing, ungrateful.

    10   And if We make him taste a favor after distress has afflicted him, he will certainly say: The evils are gone away from me. Most surely he is exulting, boasting;

11   Except those who are patient and do good, they shall have forgiveness and a great reward.

12   Then, it may be that you will give up part of what is revealed to you and your breast will become straitened by it because they say: Why has not a treasure been sent down upon him or an angel come with him? You are only a warner; and Allah is custodian over all things.

13   Or, do they say: He has forged it. Say: Then bring ten forged chapters like it and call upon whom you can besides Allah, if you are truthful.

14   But if they do not answer you, then know that it is revealed by Allah's knowledge and that there is no god but He; will you then submit?

15   Whoever desires this world's life and its finery, We will pay them in full their deeds therein, and they shall not be made to. suffer loss in respect of them.

16   These are they for whom there is nothing but fire in the hereafter, and what they wrought in it shall go for nothing, and vain is what they do.

17   Is he then who has with him clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him recites it and before it (is) the Book of Musa, a guide and a mercy? These believe in it; and whoever of the (different) parties disbelieves in it, surely it is the truth from your Lord, but most men do not believe.

18   And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah? These shall be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses shall say: These are they who lied against their Lord. Now surely the curse of Allah is on the unjust.

19   Who turn away from the path of Allah and desire to make it crooked; and they are disbelievers in the hereafter.

20   These shall not escape in the earth, nor shall they have any guardians besides Allah; the punishment shall be doubled for them, they could not bear to hear and they did not see.

21   These are they who have lost their souls, and what they forged is gone from them.

22   Truly in the hereafter they are the greatest losers.

23   Surely (as to) those who believe and do good and humble themselves to their Lord, these are the dwellers of the garden, in it they will abide.

24   The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seeing and the hearing: are they equal in condition? Will you not then mind?

25   And certainly We sent Nuh to his people: Surely I am a plain warner for you:

26   That you shall not serve any but Allah, surely I fear for you the punishment of a painful day.

27   But the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: We do not consider you but a mortal like ourselves, and we do not see any have followed you but those who are the meanest of us at first thought and we do not see in you any excellence over us; nay, we deem you liars.

28   He said: O my people! tell me if I have with me clear proof from my Lord, and He has granted me mercy from Himself and it has been made obscure to you; shall we constrain you to (accept) it while you are averse from it?

29   And, O my people! I ask you not for wealth in return for it; my reward is only with Allah and I am not going to drive away those who believe; surely they shall meet their Lord, but I consider you a people who are ignorant:

30   And, O my people! who will help me against Allah if I drive them away? Will you not then mind?

31   And I do not say to you that I have the treasures of Allah and I do not know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel, nor do I say about those whom your eyes hold in mean estimation (that) Allah will never grant them (any) good-- Allah knows best what is in their souls-- for then most surely I should be of the unjust.

32   They said: O Nuh! indeed you have disputed with us and lengthened dispute with us, therefore bring to us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful ones.

33   He said: Allah only will bring it to you if He please, and you will not escape:

34   And if I intend to give you good advice, my advice will not profit you if Allah intended that He should leave you to go astray; He is your Lord, and to Him shall you be returned.

35   Or do they say: He has forged it? Say: If I have forged it, on me is my guilt, and I am clear of that of which you are guilty.

36   And it was revealed to Nuh: That none of your people will believe except those who have already believed, therefore do not grieve at what they do:

37   And make the ark before Our eyes and (according to) Our revelation, and do not speak to Me in respect of those who are unjust; surely they shall be drowned.

38   And he began to make the ark; and whenever the chiefs from among his people passed by him they laughed at him. He said: If you laugh at us, surely we too laugh at you as you laugh (at us).

39   So shall you know who it is on whom will come a chastisement which will disgrace him, and on whom will lasting chastisement come down.

40   Until when Our command came and water came forth from the valley, We said: Carry in it two of all things, a pair, and your own family-- except those against whom the word has already gone forth, and those who believe. And there believed not with him but a few.

41   And he said: Embark in it, in the name of Allah be its sailing and its anchoring; most surely my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.

42   And it moved on with them amid waves like mountains; and Nuh called out to his son, and he was aloof: O my son! embark with us and be not with the unbelievers.

43   He said: I will betake myself for refuge to a mountain that shall protect me from the water. Nuh said: There is no protector today from Allah's punishment but He Who has mercy; and a wave intervened between them, so he was of the drowned.

44   And it was said: O earth, swallow down your water, and O cloud, clear away; and the water was made to abate and the affair was decided, and the ark rested on the Judi, and it was said: Away with the unjust people.   [/i]

45   And Nuh cried out to his Lord and said: My Lord! surely my son is of my family, and Thy promise is surely true, and Thou art the most just of the judges.

46   He said: O Nuh! surely he is not of your family; surely he is (the doer of) other than good deeds, therefore ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge; surely I admonish you lest you may be of the ignorant

47   He said: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from asking Thee that of which I have no knowledge; and if Thou shouldst not forgive me and have mercy on me, I should be of the losers.

48   It was said: O Nuh! descend with peace from Us and blessings on you and on the people from among those who are with you, and there shall be nations whom We will afford provisions, then a painful punishment from Us shall afflict them.

49   These are announcements relating to the unseen which We reveal to you, you did not know them-- (neither) you nor your people-- before this; therefore be patient; surely the end is for those who guard (against evil).

50   And to Ad (We sent) their brother Hud. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than He; you are nothing but forgers (of lies).

51   O my people! I do not ask of you any reward for it; my reward is only with Him Who created me; do you not then understand?

52   And, O my people! ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him; He will send on you clouds pouring down abundance of rain and add strength to your strength, and do not turn back guilty.

53   They said: O Hud! you have not brought to us any clear argument and we are not going to desert our gods for your word, and we are not believers in you:

54   We cannot say aught but that some of our gods have smitten you with evil. He said: Surely I call Allah to witness, and do you bear witness too, that I am clear of what you associate (with Allah).

55   Besides Him, therefore scheme against me all together; then give me no respite:

56   Surely I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord; there is no living creature but He holds it by its forelock; surely my Lord is on the right path.

57   But if you turn back, then indeed I have delivered to you the message with which I have been sent to you, and my Lord will bring another people in your place, and you cannot do Him any harm; surely my Lord is the Preserver of all things.

58   And when Our decree came to pass, We delivered Hud and those who believed with him with mercy from Us, and We delivered them from a hard chastisement.

59   And this was Ad; they denied the communications of their Lord, and disobeyed His apostles and followed the bidding of every insolent opposer (of truth).

60   And they were overtaken by curse in this world and on the resurrection day; now surely Ad disbelieved in their Lord; now surely, away with Ad, the people of Hud.

61   And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than He; He brought you into being from the earth, and made you dwell in it, therefore ask forgiveness of Him, then turn to Him; surely my Lord is Nigh, Answering.

62   They said: O Salih! surely you were one amongst us in whom great expectations were placed before this; do you (now) forbid us from worshipping what our fathers worshipped? And as to that which you call us to, most surely we are in disquieting doubt.

63   He said: O my people! tell me if I have clear proof from my Lord and He has granted to me mercy from Himself-- who will then help me against Allah if I disobey Him? Therefore you do not add to me other than loss:

64   And, O my people! this will be (as) Allah's she-camel for you, a sign; therefore leave her to pasture on Allah's earth and do not touch her with evil, for then a near chastisement will overtake you.

65   But they slew her, so he said: Enjoy yourselves in your abode for three days, that is a promise not to be belied.

66   So when Our decree came to pass, We delivered Salih and those who believed with him by mercy from Us, and (We saved them) from the disgrace of that day; surely your Lord is the Strong, the Mighty.

67   And the rumbling overtook those who were unjust, so they became motionless bodies in their abodes,

68   As though they had never dwelt in them; now surely did Samood disbelieve in their Lord; now surely, away with Samood.

69   And certainly Our apostles came to Ibrahim with good news. They said: Peace. Peace, said he, and he made no delay in bringing a roasted calf.

70   But when he saw that their hands were not extended towards it, he deemed them strange and conceived fear of them. They said: Fear not, surely we are sent to Lut's people.

71   And his wife was standing (by), so she laughed, then We gave her the good news of Ishaq and after Ishaq of (a son's son) Yaqoub.

72   She said: O wonder! shall I bear a son when I am an extremely old woman and this my husband an extremely old man? Most surely this is a wonderful thing.

73   They said: Do you wonder at Allah's bidding? The mercy of Allah and His blessings are on you, O people of the house, surely He is Praised, Glorious.

74   So when fear had gone away from Ibrahim and good news came to him, he began to plead with Us for Lut's people.

75   Most surely Ibrahim was forbearing, tender-hearted, oft-returning (to Allah):

76   O Ibrahim! leave off this, surely the decree of your Lord has come to pass, and surely there must come to them a chastisement that cannot be averted.

77   And when Our apostles came to Lut, he was grieved for them, and he lacked strength to protect them, and said: This is a hard day.

78   And his people came to him, (as if) rushed on towards him, and already they did evil deeds. He said: O my people! these are my daughters-- they are purer for you, so guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not disgrace me with regard to my guests; is there not among you one right-minded man?

79   They said: Certainly you know that we have no claim on your daughters, and most surely you know what we desire.

80   He said: Ah! that I had power to suppress you, rather I shall have recourse to a strong support.

81   They said: O Lut! we are the apostles of your Lord; they shall by no means reach you; so remove your followers in a part of the night-- and let none of you turn back-- except your wife, for surely whatsoever befalls them shall befall her; surely their appointed time is the morning; is not the morning nigh?

82   So when Our decree came to pass, We turned them upside down and rained down upon them stones, of what had been decreed, one after another.

83   Marked (for punishment) with your Lord and it is not far off from the unjust.

84   And to Madyan (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than He, and do not give short measure and weight: surely I see you in prosperity and surely I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing day.

85   And, O my people! give full measure and weight fairly, and defraud not men their things, and do not act corruptly in the land, making mischief:

86   What remains with Allah is better for you if you are believers, and I am not a keeper over you.

87   They said: O Shu'aib! does your prayer enjoin you that we should forsake what our fathers worshipped or that we should not do what we please with regard to our property? Forsooth you are the forbearing, the right-directing one.

88   He said: O my people! have you considered if I have a clear proof from my Lord and He has given me a goodly sustenance from Himself, and I do not desire that in opposition to you I should betake myself to that which I forbid you: I desire nothing but reform so far as I am able, and with none but Allah is the direction of my affair to a right issue; on Him do I rely and to Him do I turn:

    89   And, O my people! let not opposition to me make you guilty so that there may befall you the like of what befell the people of Nuh, or the people of Hud, or the people of Salih, nor are the people of Lut far off from you;

90   And ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him; surely my Lord is Merciful, Loving-kind.

91   They said: O Shu'aib! we do not understand much of what you say and most surely we see you to be weak among us, and were it not for your family we would surely stone you, and you are not mighty against us.

92   He said: O my people! is my family more esteemed by you than Allah? And you neglect Him as a thing cast behind your back; surely my Lord encompasses what you do:

93   And, O my people! act according to your ability, I too am acting; you will come to know soon who it is on whom will light the punishment that will disgrace him and who it is that is a liar, and watch, surely I too am watching with you.

94   And when Our decree came to pass We delivered Shu'aib, and those who believed with him by mercy from Us, and the rumbling overtook those who were unjust so they became motionless bodies in their abodes,

95   As though they had never dwelt in them; now surely perdition overtook Madyan as had perished Samood.

96   And certainly We sent Musa with Our communications and a clear authority,

97   To Firon and his chiefs, but they followed the bidding of Firon, and Firon's bidding was not right-directing.

98   He shall lead his people on the resurrection day, and bring them down to the fire; and evil the place to which they are brought.

99   And they are overtaken by curse in this (world), and on the resurrection day, evil the gift which shall be given.

100   This is an account of (the fate of) the towns which We relate to you; of them are some that stand and (others) mown down.

101   And We did not do them injustice, but they were unjust to themselves, so their gods whom they called upon besides Allah did not avail them aught when the decree of your Lord came to pass; and they added but to their ruin.

102   And such is the punishment of your Lord when He punishes the towns while they are unjust; surely His punishment is painful, severe.

103   Most surely there is a sign in this for him who fears the chastisement of the hereafter; this is a day on which the people shall be gathered together and this is a day that shall be witnessed.

104   And We do not delay it but to an appointed term.

105   On the day when it shall come, no soul shall speak except with His permission, then (some) of them shall be unhappy and (others) happy.

106   So as to those who are unhappy, they shall be in the fire; for them shall be sighing and groaning in it:

107   Abiding therein so long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord please; surely your Lord is the mighty doer of what He intends.

108   And as to those who are made happy, they shall be in the garden, abiding in it as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord please; a gift which shall never be cut off.

109   Therefore be not in doubt as to what these worship; they do not worship but as their fathers worshipped before; and most surely We will pay them back in full their portion undiminished.

110   And certainly We gave the book to Musa, but it was gone against; and had not a word gone forth from your Lord, the matter would surely have been decided between them; and surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

111   And your Lord will most surely pay back to all their deeds in full; surely He is aware of what they do.

112   Continue then in the right way as you are commanded, as also he who has turned (to Allah) with you, and be not inordinate (O men!), surely He sees what you do.

113   And do not incline to those who are unjust, lest the fire touch you, and you have no guardians besides Allah, then you shall not be helped.

114   And keep up prayer in the two parts of the day and in the first hours of the night; surely good deeds take away evil deeds this is a reminder to the mindful.

115   And be patient, for surely Allah does not waste the reward of the good-doers.

116   But why were there not among the generations before you those possessing understanding, who should have forbidden the making of mischief in the earth, except a few of those whom We delivered from among them? And those who were unjust went after what they are made to enjoy of plenty, and they were guilty.

117   And it did not beseem your Lord to have destroyed the towns tyrannously, while their people acted well.

118   And if your Lord had pleased He would certainly have made people a single nation, and they shall continue to differ.

119   Except those on whom your Lord has mercy; and for this did He create them; and the word of your Lord is fulfilled: Certainly I will fill hell with the jinn and the men, all together.

120   And all we relate to you of the accounts of the apostles is to strengthen your heart therewith; and in this has come to you the truth and an admonition, and a reminder to the believers.

121   And say to those who do not believe: Act according to your state; surely we too are acting.

122   And wait; surely we are waiting also.

123   And Allah's is the unseen in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is returned the whole of the affair; therefore serve Him and rely on Him, and your Lord is not heedless of what you do.

that is what HUD says .. well let us get some nuggets out of it and find out whether we have any thing about Prophet of Islam "Muhammad"

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim

  • Reading Quran And Inquiring in to Prophet Muhammad's Life from Quran
     Reply #249 - September 22, 2018, 02:34 PM

well in that last post I said
..............It is HUD., is it about Prophet Hud?? Nah.. who is HUD? whoever.. whatever... we don't care .. we just read Quran .. Book of allah...   that  Chapter 52 "HUD" has 123 verses  allegedly revealed in Mecca...........

that is what HUD says .. well let us get some nuggets out of it and find out whether we have any thing about Prophet of Islam "Muhammad"

Well I didn't even print those nuggets of Surah HUD ., but I know there are some nuggets there is bit of Confucius in that surah hud.  Now usual distraction on Reading Quran through its so-called revelation order comes  because we have a problem that I often encountered reading Quran and understanding Quran specially when you read only one verse.  And our new friend  "curious-lurker " highlighted that point.

curious-lurker in another folder   saying something basic and important ..
............................The problem with your reading is that it’s not in the Quranic text. The sentence is incomplete. The translations add what they think should be there between the brackets, they’re filling in the blank with their own idea.

well  dear C_lurker as you know Quran translation is a open book and we have literally 50 English translations available for us.  let us take that verse read it and MAKE IT BETTER
    Quote
We don’t know what the verse was supposed to say. Maybe it contained another hellfire reference or something. We don’t know.....

why worry about that?? the goal is making it better .. better for everyone dear curious-lurker.,
And that is one reason why I often tell folks "DO NOT READ SINGLE VERSE FROM QURAN AND START DEBATING ABOUT IT "

Read whole book ..  read whole surah ...or at least read 5 verses below and 5 verses above the verse of interest ... so we can make a song ..sonnet out of it .. a little prayer of Allah god whatever for children  ..

I normally read Quran as a Passage / a sonnet or  song  NOT JUST A VERSE  ,  For example in the case 41:41., I will argue folks to read their favorite translation around the verse of interest .,   So in my case  it goes like this
    Quote
    {{{ I like Muhammad Habib Shakir translation .. off course I also read other translators}}}

and  here is the sequence of reading I normally do  if I want to understand that 41:41 verse.

    1) READ WHOLE SURAH 41..  here you go

    Quote
    1   Ha Mim!

2   A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah:

3   A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know:

4   A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not.

5   And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working.

    6   Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists;

7   (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter.

8   (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off.

9   Say: What! do you indeed disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two periods, and do you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of the Worlds.

10   And He made in it mountains above its surface, and He blessed therein and made therein its foods, in four periods: alike for the seekers.

11   Then He directed Himself to the heaven and it is a vapor, so He said to it and to the earth: Come both, willingly or unwillingly. They both said: We come willingly.

12   So He ordained them seven heavens in two periods, and revealed in every heaven its affair; and We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant stars and (made it) to guard; that is the decree of the Mighty, the Knowing.

13   But if they turn aside, then say: I have warned you of a scourge like the scourge of Ad and Samood.

14   When their apostles came to them from before them and from behind them, saying, Serve nothing but Allah, they said: If our Lord had pleased He would certainly have sent down angels, so we are surely unbelievers in that with which you are sent.

15   Then as to Ad, they were unjustly proud in the land, and they said: Who is mightier in strength than we? Did they not see that Allah Who created them was mightier than they in strength, and they denied Our communications?

16   So We sent on them a furious wind in unlucky days, that We may make them taste the chastisement of abasement in this world's life; and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is much more abasing, and they shall not be helped.

17   And as to Samood, We showed them the right way, but they chose error above guidance, so there overtook them the scourge of an abasing chastisement for what they earned.

18   And We delivered those who believed and guarded (against evil).

19   And on the day that the enemies of Allah shall be brought together to the fire, then they shall be formed into groups.

20   Until when they come to it, their ears and their eyes and their skins shall bear witness against them as to what they did.

21   And they shall say to their skins: Why have you borne witness against us? They shall say: Allah Who makes everything speak has made us speak, and He created you at first, and to Him you shall be brought back.

22   And you did not veil yourselves lest your ears and your eyes and your skins should bear witness against you, but you thought that Allah did not know most of what you did.

23   And that was your (evil) thought which you entertained about your Lord that has tumbled you down into perdition, so are you become of the lost ones.

24   Then if they will endure, still the fire is their abode, and if they ask for goodwill, then are they not of those who shall be granted goodwill.

25   And We have appointed for them comrades so they have made fair-seeming to them what is before them and what is behind them, and the word proved true against them-- among the nations of the jinn and the men that have passed away before them-- that they shall surely be losers.

26   And those who disbelieve say: Do not listen to this Quran and make noise therein, perhaps you may overcome.

27   Therefore We will most certainly make those who disbelieve taste a severe punishment, and We will most certainly reward them for the evil deeds they used to do.

28   That is the reward of the enemies of Allah-- the fire; for them therein shall be the house of long abiding; a reward for their denying Our communications.

29   And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! show us those who led us astray from among the jinn and the men that we may trample them under our feet so that they may be of the lowest.

30   (As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then continue in the right way, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not, nor be grieved, and receive good news of the garden which you were promised.

31   We are your guardians in this world's life and in the hereafter, and you shall have therein what your souls desire and you shall have therein what you ask for:

32   A provision from the Forgiving, the Merciful.

33   And who speaks better than he who calls to Allah while he himself does good, and says: I am surely of those who submit?

34   And not alike are the good and the evil. Repel (evil) with what is best, when lo! he between whom and you was enmity would be as if he were a warm friend.

35   And none are made to receive it but those who are patient, and none are made to receive it but those who have a mighty good fortune.

36   And if an interference of the Shaitan should cause you mischief, seek refuge in Allah; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

37   And among His signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon; do not prostrate to the sun nor to the moon; and prostrate to Allah Who created them, if Him it is that you serve.

38   But if they are proud, yet those with your Lord glorify Him during the night and the day, and they are not tired.

39   And among His signs is this, that you see the earth still, but when We send down on it the water, it stirs and swells: most surely He Who gives it life is the Giver of life to the dead; surely He has power over all things.

40   Surely they who deviate from the right way concerning Our communications are not hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the fire better, or he who comes safe on the day of resurrection? Do what you like, surely He sees what you do.

41   Surely those who disbelieve in the reminder when it comes to them, and most surely it is a Mighty Book:

42   Falsehood shall not come to it from before it nor from behind it; a revelation from the Wise, the Praised One.

43   Naught is said to you but what was said indeed to the apostles before you; surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness and the Lord of painful retribution.

44   And if We had made it a Quran in a foreign tongue, they would certainly have said: Why have not its communications been made clear? What! a foreign (tongue) and an Arabian! Say: It is to those who believe a guidance and a healing; and (as for) those who do not believe, there is a heaviness in their ears and it is obscure to them; these shall be called to from a far-off place.

45   And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, but it has been differed about, and had not a word already gone forth from your Lord, judgment would certainly have been given between them; and most surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

46   Whoever does good, it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against it; and your Lord is not in the least unjust to the servants.

47   To Him is referred the knowledge of the hour, and there come not forth any of the fruits from their coverings, nor does a female bear, nor does she give birth, but with His knowledge; and on the day when He shall call out to them, Where are (those whom you called) My associates? They shall say: We declare to Thee, none of us is a witness.

48   And away from them shall go what they called upon before, and they shall know for certain that there is no escape for them.

49   Man is never tired of praying for good, and if evil touch him, then he is despairing, hopeless.

50   And if We make him taste mercy from Us after distress that has touched him, he would most certainly say: This is of me, and I do not think the hour will come to pass, and if I am sent back to my Lord, I shall have with Him sure good; but We will most certainly inform those who disbelieved of what they did, and We will most certainly make them taste of hard chastisement.

51   And when We show favor to man, he turns aside and withdraws himself; and when evil touches him, he makes lengthy supplications.

52   Say: Tell me if it is from Allah; then you disbelieve in it, who is in greater error than he who is in a prolonged opposition?

53   We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and in their own souls, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things?

54   Now surely they are in doubt as to the meeting of their Lord; now surely He encompasses all things.

so what do we do with those 54 statements of that surah??  I normally go and cut them in to pieces as passages..   let me do that in the next post

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything

My way of  reading Quran chapter 41

    Quote
    verses 1 to 8

    Ha Mim!

A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah:

A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know:

A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not.

And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working.

     Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists;

(To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter.

(As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off.

    .

well that 54 verses of that surah and I wanted our friend curious-lurker to read whole surah instead of picking on single verse 41:41

The point is that it doesn’t tell us what happens. Reading the whole surah doesn’t change anything. The verse is similar to saying something:

Yeezevee is a...And indeed it is a mighty Book.

Reading the surrounding verses won’t tell us the missing content.

So again I argue with curious-lurker  "Read Quran with open mind and open heart WITHOUT GETTING UPSET WITH QURAN AND WITHOUT LOSING THAT BLOOD AND HEMOGLOBIN  which carries oxygen to brain and  heart . And one must read it as Passages/songs/sonnets .. and please do not read A SINGLES VERSE from it and make silly stories out of that verse which I often see/hear from BABOONS OF ISLAM

And  I must agree here with  C-Lurker., he  does have  point in saying " that   verse is indeed has "missing content"

but so what if it is missing?

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything

well that is what I wrote way back in October 18, 2017, 05:12 PM., Indeed there is wisdom in some Quran verses but there is very little about history of early Islam  and identity of Prophet of Islam., anyway  let me read next  chapter and that is CHAPTER-52  and that is chapter11 in the book.. It is HUD., is it about Prophet Hud?? Nah.. who is HUD? whoever.. whatever... we don't care .. we just read Quran .. Book of allah...   that  Chapter 52 "HUD" has 123 verses  allegedly revealed in Mecca

that is what HUD says .. well let us get some nuggets out of it and find out whether we have any thing about Prophet of Islam "Muhammad"

that is what i said some time ago on  August 15, 2018, ...  and after six months later  i am reading the next surah .,  The Surah 53  .,

So it is published as surah 12  in the book  and its name is Surh    Yousuf and it has    111  verses and it allegedly reveled to the alleged Prophet of Islam in Macca., that is what we know ... So let us read some 30 verses from it..

    Quote
1   Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) manifest.

2   Surely We have revealed it-- an Arabic Quran-- that you may understand.

3   We narrate to you the best of narratives, by Our revealing to you this Quran, though before this you were certainly one of those who did not know.

4   When Yusuf said to his father: O my father! surely I saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon-- I saw them making obeisance to me.

5   He said: O my son! do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they devise a plan against you; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man.

6   And thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of sayings and make His favor complete to you and to the children of Yaqoub, as He made it complete before to your fathers, Ibrahim and Ishaq; surely your Lord is Knowing, Wise.

7   Certainly in Yusuf and his brothers there are signs for the inquirers.

8   When they said: Certainly Yusuf and his brother are dearer to our father than we, though we are a (stronger) company; most surely our father is in manifest error:

9   Slay Yusuf or cast him (forth) into some land, so that your father's regard may be exclusively for you, and after that you may be a righteous people.

10   A speaker from among them said: Do not slay Yusuf, and cast him down into the bottom of the pit if you must do (it), (so that) some of the travellers may pick him up.

11   They said: O our father! what reason have you that you do not trust in us with respect to Yusuf? And most surely we are his sincere well-wishers:

12   Send him with us tomorrow that he may enjoy himself and sport, and surely we will guard him well.

13   He said: Surely it grieves me that you should take him off, and I fear lest the wolf devour him while you are heedless of him.

14   They said: Surely if the wolf should devour him notwithstanding that we are a (strong) company, we should then certainly be losers.

15   So when they had gone off with him and agreed that they should put him down at the bottom of the pit, and We revealed to him: You will most certainly inform them of this their affair while they do not perceive.

16   And they came to their father at nightfall, weeping.

17   They said: O our father! surely we went off racing and left Yusuf by our goods, so the wolf devoured him, and you will not believe us though we are truthful.

18   And they brought his shirt with false blood upon it. He said: Nay, your souls have made the matter light for you, but patience is good and Allah is He Whose help is sought for against what you describe.

19   And there came travellers and they sent their water-drawer and he let down his bucket. He said: O good news! this is a youth; and they concealed him as an article of merchandise, and Allah knew what they did.

20   And they sold him for a small price, a few pieces of silver, and they showed no desire for him.

21   And the Egyptian who bought him said to his wife: Give him an honorable abode, maybe he will be useful to us, or we may adopt him as a son. And thus did We establish Yusuf in the land and that We might teach him the interpretation of sayings; and Allah is the master of His affair, but most people do not know.

22   And when he had attained his maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge: and thus do We reward those who do good.

23   And she in whose house he was sought to make himself yield (to her), and she made fast the doors and said: Come forward. He said: I seek Allah's refuge, surely my Lord made good my abode: Surely the unjust do not prosper.

24   And certainly she made for him, and he would have made for her, were it not that he had seen the manifest evidence of his Lord; thus (it was) that We might turn away from him evil and indecency, surely he was one of Our sincere servants.

25   And they both hastened to the door, and she rent his shirt from behind and they met her husband at the door. She said: What is the punishment of him who intends evil to your wife except imprisonment or a painful chastisement?

26   He said: She sought to make me yield (to her); and a witness of her own family bore witness: If his shirt is rent from front, she speaks the truth and he is one of the liars:

27   And if his shirt is rent from behind, she tells a lie and he is one of the truthful.

28   So when he saw his shirt rent from behind, he said: Surely it is a guile of you women; surely your guile is great:

29   O Yusuf! turn aside from this; and (O my wife)! ask forgiveness for your fault, surely you are one of the wrong-doers.

30   And women in the city said: The chiefs wife seeks her slave to yield himself (to her), surely he has affected her deeply with (his) love; most surely we see her in manifest error.

31   So when she heard of their sly talk she sent for them and prepared for them a repast, and gave each of them a knife, and said (to Yusuf): Come forth to them. So when they saw him, they deemed him great, and cut their hands (in amazement), and said: Remote is Allah (from imperfection); this is not a mortal; this is but a noble angel.

32   She said: This is he with respect to whom you blamed me, and certainly I sought his yielding himself (to me), but he abstained, and if he does not do what I bid him, he shall certainly be imprisoned, and he shall certainly be of those who are in a state of ignominy.

33   He said: My Lord! the prison house is dearer to me than that to which they invite me; and if Thou turn not away their device from me, I will yearn towards them and become (one) of the ignorant.

34   Thereupon his Lord accepted his prayer and turned away their guile from him; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

35   Then it occurred to them after they had seen the signs that they should imprison him till a time.

36   And two youths entered the prison with him. One of them said: I saw myself pressing wine. And the other said: I saw myself carrying bread on my head, of which birds ate. Inform us of its interpretation; surely we see you to be of the doers of good.

37   He said: There shall not come to you the food with which you are fed, but I will inform you both of its interpretation before it comes to you; this is of what my Lord has taught me; surely I have forsaken the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah, and they are deniers of the hereafter:

38   And I follow the religion of my fathers, Ibrahim and Ishaq and Yaqoub; it beseems us not that we should associate aught with Allah; this is by Allah's grace upon us and on mankind, but most people do not give thanks:

39   O my two mates of the prison! are sundry lords better or Allah the One, the Supreme?

40   You do not serve besides Him but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent down any authority for them; judgment is only Allah's; He has commanded that you shall not serve aught but Him; this is the right religion but most people do not know:

41   O my two mates of the prison! as for one of you, he shall give his lord to drink wine; and as for the other, he shall be crucified, so that the birds shall eat from his head, the matter is decreed concerning which you inquired.

42   And he said to him whom he knew would be delivered of the two: Remember me with your lord; but the Shaitan caused him to forget mentioning (it) to his lord, so he remained in the prison a few years.

43   And the king said: Surely I see seven fat kine which seven lean ones devoured; and seven green ears and (seven) others dry: O chiefs! explain to me my dream, if you can interpret the dream.

44   They said: Confused dreams, and we do not know the interpretation of dreams.

45   And of the two (prisoners) he who had found deliverance and remembered after a long time said: I will inform you of its interpretation, so let me go:

46   Yusuf! O truthful one! explain to us seven fat kine which seven lean ones devoured, and seven green ears and (seven) others dry, that I may go back to the people so that they may know.

47   He said: You shall sow for seven years continuously, then what you reap leave it in its ear except a little of which you eat.

48   Then there shall come after that seven years of hardship which shall eat away all that you have beforehand laid up in store for them, except a little of what you shall have preserved:

49   Then there will come after that a year in which people shall have rain and in which they shall press (grapes).

50   And the king said: Bring him to me. So when the messenger came to him, he said: Go back to your lord and ask him, what is the case of the women who cut their hands; surely my Lord knows their guile.

51   He said: How was your affair when you sought Yusuf to yield himself (to you)? They said: Remote is Allah (from imperfection), we knew of no evil on his part. The chief's wife said: Now has the truth become established: I sought him to yield himself (to me), and he is most surely of the truthful ones.

52   This is that he might know that I have not been unfaithful to him in secret and that Allah does not guide the device of the unfaithful.

53   And I do not declare myself free, most surely (man's) self is wont to command (him to do) evil, except such as my Lord has had mercy on, surely my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.

54   And the king said: Bring him to me, I will choose him for myself. So when he had spoken with him, he said: Surely you are in our presence today an honorable, a faithful one.

55   He said: Place me (in authority) over the treasures of the land, surely I am a good keeper, knowing well.

56   And thus did We give to Yusuf power in the land-- he had mastery in it wherever he liked; We send down Our mercy on whom We please, and We do not waste the reward of those who do good.

57   And certainly the reward of the hereafter is much better for those who believe and guard (against evil).

58   And Yusuf's brothers came and went in to him, and he knew them, while they did not recognize him.

59   And when he furnished them with their provision, he said: Bring to me a brother of yours from your father; do you not see that I give full measure and that I am the best of hosts?

60   But if you do not bring him to me, you shall have no measure (of corn) from me, nor shall you come near me.

61   They said: We will strive to make his father yield in respect of him, and we are sure to do (it).

62   And he said to his servants: Put their money into their bags that they may recognize it when they go back to their family, so that they may come back.

63   So when they returned to their father, they said: O our father, the measure is withheld from us, therefore send with us our brother, (so that) we may get the measure, and we will most surely guard him.

64   He said: I cannot trust in you with respect to him, except as I trusted in you with respect to his brother before; but Allah is the best Keeper, and He is the most Merciful of the merciful ones.

65   And when they opened their goods, they found their money returned to them. They said: O our father! what (more) can we desire? This is our property returned to us, and we will bring corn for our family and guard our brother, and will have in addition the measure of a camel (load); this is an easy measure.

66   He said: I will by no means send him with you until you give me a firm covenant in Allah's name that you will most certainly bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded. And when they gave him their covenant, he said: Allah is the One in Whom trust is placed as regards what we say.

67   And he said: O my sons! do not (all) enter by one gate and enter by different gates and I cannot avail you aught against Allah; judgment is only Allah's; on Him do I rely, and on Him let those who are reliant rely.

68   And when they had entered as their father had bidden them, it did not avail them aught against Allah, but (it was only) a desire in the soul of Yaqoub which he satisfied; and surely he was possessed of knowledge because We had given him knowledge, but most people do not know.

69   And when they went in to Yusuf. he lodged his brother with himself, saying: I am your brother, therefore grieve not at what they do.

70   So when he furnished them with their provisions, (someone) placed the drinking cup in his brother's bag. Then a crier cried out: O caravan! you are most surely thieves.

71   They said while they were facing them: What is it that you miss?

72   They said: We miss the king's drinking cup, and he who shall bring it shall have a camel-load and I am responsible for it.

73   They said: By Allah! you know for certain that we have not come to make mischief in the land, and we are not thieves.

74   They said: But what shall be the requital of this, if you are liars?

75   They said: The requital of this is that the person in whose bag it is found shall himself be (held for) the satisfaction thereof; thus do we punish the wrongdoers.

76   So he began with their sacks before the sack of his brother, then he brought it out from his brother's sack. Thus did We plan for the sake of Yusuf; it was not (lawful) that he should take his brother under the king's law unless Allah pleased; We raise the degrees of whomsoever We please, and above every one possessed of knowledge is the All-knowing one.

77   They said: If he steal, a brother of his did indeed steal before; but Yusuf kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. He said: You are in an evil condition and Allah knows best what you state.

78   They said: O chief! he has a father, a very old man, therefore retain one of us in his stead; surely we see you to be of the doers of good.

79   He said: Allah protect us that we should seize other than him with whom we found our property, for then most surely we would be unjust.

80   Then when they despaired of him, they retired, conferring privately together. The eldest of them said: Do you not know that your father took from you a covenant in Allah's name, and how you fell short of your duty with respect to Yusuf before? Therefore I will by no means depart from this land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me, and He is the best of the judges:

81   Go back to your father and say: O our father! surely your son committed theft, and we do not bear witness except to what we have known, and we could not keep watch over the unseen:

82   And inquire in the town in which we were and the caravan with which we proceeded, and most surely we are truthful.

83   He (Yaqoub) said: Nay, your souls have made a matter light for you, so patience is good; maybe Allah will bring them all together to me; surely He is the Knowing, the Wise.

84   And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! and his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor (of grief).

85   They said: By Allah! you will not cease to remember Yusuf until you are a prey to constant disease or (until) you are of those who perish.

86   He said: I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.

87   O my sons! Go and inquire respecting Yusuf and his brother, and despair not of Allah's mercy; surely none despairs of Allah's mercy except the unbelieving people.

88   So when they came in to him, they said: O chief! distress has afflicted us and our family and we have brought scanty money, so give us full measure and be charitable to us; surely Allah rewards the charitable.

89   He said: Do you know how you treated Yusuf and his brother when you were ignorant?

90   They said: Are you indeed Yusuf? He said: I am Yusuf and this is my brother; Allah has indeed been gracious to us; surely he who guards (against evil) and is patient (is rewarded) for surely Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good.

91   They said: By Allah! now has Allah certainly chosen you over us, and we were certainly sinners.

92   He said: (There shall be) no reproof against you this day; Allah may forgive you, and He is the most Merciful of the merciful.

93   Take this my shirt and cast it on my father's face, he will (again) be able to see, and come to me with all your families.

94   And when the caravan had departed, their father said: Most surely I perceive the greatness of Yusuf, unless you pronounce me to be weak in judgment.

95   They said: By Allah, you are most surely in your old error.

96   So when the bearer of good news came he cast it on his face, so forthwith he regained his sight. He said: Did I not say to you that I know from Allah what you do not know?

97   They said: O our father! ask forgiveness of our faults for us, surely we were sinners.

98   He said: I will ask for you forgiveness from my Lord; surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

99   Then when they came in to Yusuf, he took his parents to lodge with him and said: Enter safe into Egypt, if Allah please.

100   And he raised his parents upon the throne and they fell down in prostration before him, and he said: O my father! this is the significance of my vision of old; my Lord has indeed made it to be true; and He was indeed kind to me when He brought me forth from the prison and brought you from the desert after the Shaitan had sown dissensions between me and my brothers, surely my Lord is benignant to whom He pleases; surely He is the Knowing, the Wise.

101   My Lord! Thou hast given me of the kingdom and taught me of the interpretation of sayings: Originator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my guardian in this world and the hereafter; make me die a muslim and join me with the good.

102   This is of the announcements relating to the unseen (which) We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they resolved upon their affair, and they were devising plans.

103   And most men will not believe though you desire it eagerly.

104   And you do not ask them for a reward for this; it is nothing but a reminder for all mankind.

105   And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth which they pass by, yet they turn aside from it.

106   And most of them do not believe in Allah without associating others (with Him).

107   Do they then feel secure that there may come to them an extensive chastisement from Allah or (that) the hour may come to them suddenly while they do not perceive?

108   Say: This is my way: I call to Allah, I and those who follow me being certain, and glory be to Allah, and I am not one of the polytheists.

109   And We have not sent before you but men from (among) the people of the towns, to whom We sent revelations. Have they not then travelled in the land and seen what was the end of those before them? And certainly the abode of the hereafter is best for those who guard (against evil); do you not then understand?

110   Until when the apostles despaired and the people became sure that they were indeed told a lie, Our help came to them and whom We pleased was delivered; and Our punishment is not averted from the guilty people.

111   In their histories there is certainly a lesson for men of understanding. It is not a narrative which could be forged, but a verification of what is before it and a distinct explanation of all things and a guide and a mercy to a people who believe.

So  just to remind myself.,  i am reading Quran in this folder for specific purpose.,  and that to figure out what it says about Prophet of Islam? Can we get some historical facts from it on or about geographical/ or about people of its time....  well  i will read all of the chapter again some 20 to 30  verses at a time..

i am reading the next surah .,  The Surah 53  .,   So it is published as surah 12  in the book  and its name is Surh    Yousuf and it has    111  verses and it allegedly reveled to the alleged Prophet of Islam in Macca., that is what we know ..

well reading 20-30 verses at time IS NOT necessary for this surah., This is one of those very unique surahs of Quran that has only a story of ISLAMIC NARRATIVE  on Prophet  Yusuf  or Joseph or that  Biblical narrative Story of Joseph., It is essentially a story for Muslim children on Biblical prophets and My favorite Islamic site Al-islam.org  tells much better story than you can get from reading those 111 verses..

So again these 111  verses having nothing to do with Alleged Prophet of Islam   and any sect of Abrahamic  faith/s  WILL TELL YOU THE SAME STORY TO CHILDREN  on that Prophet Joseph.

But there is an interesting side story to this surah  in the present times with reference to analyzing it to figure out the Author who wrote  this story in to Quran  in  early Islam using  that  Stylometric analysis of Quran   It is one of those  good chapters  to do such analysis as it contains only THE STORY OF YUSUF and nothing else ..

So let me do that Stylometric  experiment on this surah.,   It has 111 verses ., out of which the following verses   1 to 3 and   101 to 111 are irrelevant because they can be added to any surah or to any story or to any faith book as FAITH REINFORCING STATEMENTS .

After writing some 10 pages on doing that stylometric analysis of  surah -53   ., I realized IT IS A WORTHLESS EXPERIMENT ..

stylometric analysis is indeed a good technique for finding out the authors of a manuscript/publication   but for a book.. It becomes a useless exercise   and waste of time....

well that is the name of my  life story   doing things that are "waste of time"  Cheesy  ., anyways so I go back to reading Quran..  so., so far  i read 53 surahs.,  and Surah 53 aka surah12   with 111 verses in it tells me NOTHING about prophet of Islam..  On top of that  some 14 verses in it are very little to do with the story it was telling ..  THE STORY OF PROPHET JOSEPH...

well that is what it s.. Now let me go and read Chapter 54...

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything

So let me read Chapter -54   aka  surah-15.  .... Al-Hijr ...........Al-Hijr....Al-Hijr  ., well it has 99 verses in it allegedly reveled in Mecca.,    Not sure why it has to be  99 verses??   why not 100 or why not some 90.,  but that is the way it is .. well  Allah knows the best and  HEeeeee(NOT SHE)  can only answer., anyway .. our 99 verses..

    Quote
1:   Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear.

2: Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims.

3: Leave them that they may eat and enjoy themselves and  (that) hope may beguile them, for they will soon know.

4: And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known.

5:  No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it).

6: And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane:

7:  Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones?

8:  We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited.

9: Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian.

10: And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore.

11: And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him.

    12: Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty;

13: They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed.

14:  And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while,

15:  They would certainly say: Only our eyes.have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people.

16:  And certainly We have made strongholds in the heaven and We have made it fair seeming to the beholders.

17:  And We guard it against every accursed Shaitan,

18:  But he who steals a hearing, so there follows him a visible flame.

19: And the earth— We have spread it forth and made in it firm mountains and caused to grow in it of every suitable thing.

20: And We have made in it means of subsistence for you and for him for whom you are not the suppliers
    .
21:  And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures of it, and We do not send it down but in a known measure.

22: And We send the winds fertilizing, then send down water from the cloud so We give it to you to drink of, nor is it you who store it up.

23: And most surely We bring to life and cause to die and We are the heirs.

24: And certainly We know those of you who have gone before  and We certainly know those who shall come later.

25:  And surely your Lord will gather them together; surely He  is Wise, Knowing.

26: And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape.

27: And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire.

28: And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape.

29: So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him.

30: So the angels made obeisance, all of them together,

31: But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance

32: He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance?

33: He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape.

34: He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away:

35: And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment.

36: He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they
    are raised.

37: He said: So surely you are of the respited ones

38: Till the period of the time made known.

39: He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate

40: Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones.

41:  He said: This is a right way with Me:

42:  Surely. as regards My servants, you have no authority ,over them except those who follow you of the deviators.

43:  And surely Hell is the promised place of them all:

44:  It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them.

45:  Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains:

46:  Enter them in peace, secure.

47:  And We will root out whatever of rancor is in their breasts— (they shall be) as brethren, on raised couches, face to face.

48:  Toil shall not afflict them in it, nor shall they be ever ejected from it.

49:  Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

50:  And that My punishment— that is the painful punishment.

51: And inform them of the guests of Ibrahim:

52: When they entered upon him, they said, Peace. He said: Surely we are afraid of you.

53: They said: Be not afraid, surely we give you the good news of a boy, possessing knowledge.

54: He said: Do you give me good news (of a son) when old age has come upon me?— Of what then do you give me good news!

55:  They said: We give you good news with truth, therefore be not of the despairing.

56: He said: And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord but the erring ones?

57: He said: What is your business then, O messengers?

58: They said: Surely we are sent towards a guilty people,

59: Except Lut’s followers: We will most surely deliver them all,

60: Except his wife; We ordained that she shall surely be of those who remain behind.

61: So when the messengers came to Lut’s followers,

62: He said: Surely you are an unknown people.

63: They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed.

64: And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful.

65: Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded.

66: And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning.

67: And the people of the town came rejoicing.

68:  He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me,

69: And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame.

70: They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people?

71:  He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught).

72: By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication.

    73:  So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise;

74:Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed.

75: Surely in this are signs for those who examine.

76: And surely it is on a road that still abides.

77: Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers.

78: And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust.

79: So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued.

    80: And the dwellers of the Rock certainly rejected the messengers;

    81: And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them;

82:  And they hewed houses in the mountains in security.

    83:  So the rumbling overtook them in the morning;

84: And what they earned did not avail them.

85: And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what  is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness.

86: Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing.

87:  And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran.

88: Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers.

89:  And say: Surely I am the plain warner.

90: Like as We sent down on the dividers

91: Those who made the Quran into shreds.

92:  So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all,

93: As to what they did.

94: Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists.

95: Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers

96:  Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know.

    97:  And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say;

98:  Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance.

99: And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain.

So it needs careful reading .. it need to be cut in to pieces and make songs..sonnets and stories out of it..  and let me do that in the next post apart from adding some Tafsir on this surah..

So this Surah Al-Hijr, Chapter 15 of the book or  Chapter 54 inalleged revelation order tells nothing about  prophet of Islam.. but there is a verse ONE SINGLE VERSE in it  which seems to have/related to some sort of an event .. and the verse is

well let me get  back to reading Quran.. although I read Quran all the time to understand the reasons for its revelation but reading whole chapter or whole book at a time is taxing on my brain as there are so many distractions....  Any way in this folder the last surah I read was  surah 54 aka chapter15 in the book at https://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=16106.msg882657#msg882657  ..,   now let me read that chapter55 which is surah -6 in the revelation order .  it is allegedly revealed in Mecca in the initial period of preaching from Prophet of Islam as a revelation from Allah god...

So  Tafsir on  Surah Al Anaam …..The Cattle..............  from our good friend who was central Indian migrated Pakistan  and then migrated and died in US of A  Mr.  Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi   says  this

    Quote
    Name..

This Surah takes its name from vv. 136, 138 and 139 in which some superstitious beliefs of the idolatrous Arabs concerning the lawfulness of some cattle (an`am) and the unlawfulness of some others have been refuted.

    Period of Revelation...

According to a tradition of Ibn Abbas, the whole of the Surah was revealed at one sitting at Makkah. Asma, a daughter of Yazid and a first cousin of Hadrat Mu'az-bin Jabl, says, "During the revelation of this Surah, the Holy Prophet was riding on a she-camel and I was holding her nose-string. The she-camel began to feel the weight so heavily that it seemed as if her bones would break under it." We also learn from other traditions that the Holy Prophet dictated the whole of the Surah the same night that it was revealed.

Its subject-matter clearly shows that it must have been revealed during the last year of the Holy Prophet's life at Makkah. The tradition of Asma, daughter of Yazid, also confirms this. As she belonged to the Ansar and embraced Islam after the migration of the Holy Prophet to Yathrib, her visit to the Holy Prophet at Makkah must have taken place during the last year of his life there. For before this, his relations with those people were not so intimate that a woman from there might have come to visit him at Makkah.

    Occasion of Revelation

After determining the period of its revelation, it is easier to visualize the background of the Surah. Twelve years had passed since the Holy Prophet had been inviting the people to Islam. The antagonism and persecution by the Quraish had become most savage and brutal, and the majority of the Muslims had to leave their homes and migrate to Habash (Abyssinia). Above all, the two great supporters of the Holy Prophet. Abu Talib and Hadrat Khadijah, were no more to help and give strength to him. Thus he was deprived of all the worldly support. But in spite of this, he carried on his mission in the teeth of opposition. As a result of this, on the one hand, all the good people of Makkah and the surrounding clans gradually began to accept Islam ; on the other hand, the community as a whole, was bent upon obduracy and rejection. Therefore, if anyone showed any inclination towards Islam, he was subjected to taunts and derision, physical violence and social boycott.

It was in these dark circumstances that a ray of hope gleamed from Yathrib, where Islam began to spread freely by the efforts of some influential people of Aus and Khazraj, who had embraced Islam at Makkah. This was a humble beginning in the march of Islam towards success and none could foresee at that time the great potentialities that lay hidden in it. For, to a casual observer,

it appeared at that time as if Islam was merely a weak movement it had no material backing except the meager support of the Prophet's own family and of the few poor adherents of the Movement. Obviously the latter could not give much help because they themselves had been cast out by their own people who had become their enemies and were persecuting them.

well  that what he writes and that is what most Muslims think How  Islam begin as family affair . So  let us read a part of  that surah Surah -6 Al Anaam  ..  the chapter 55 in the book.,  here we go..
    Quote
    Chapter -55   aka  surah-6 … Surah Al Anaam …..The Cattle.....  .

    .
    1. All praise is due to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and madethe darkness and the light; yet those who disbelieve set up equals with their Lord.

    2. He it is Who created you from clay, then He decreed a term; and there is aterm named with Him; still you doubt.

    3. And He is Allah in the heavens and in the earth; He knows your secret [thoughts] and your open [words], and He knows what you earn.

    4. And there does not come to them any communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it

    5. So they have indeed rejected the truth when it came to them; therefore the truth of what they mocked at will shine upon them.

    6. Do they not consider how many a generation We have destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth as We have not established you, and We sent the clouds pouring rain on them in abundance, and We made the rivers to flow beneath them, then We destroyed them on account of their faults and raised up after them another generation.

    7. And if We had sent to you a writing on a paper, then they had touched it with their hands, certainly those who disbelieve would have said: This is nothing but clear enchantment.

    8. And they say: Why has not an angel been sent down to him? And had We sent down an angel, the matter would have certainly been decided and then they would not have been respited.

    9. And if We had made him angel, We would certainly have made him a man, and We would certainly have made confused to them what they make confused.

    10. And certainly messengers before you were mocked at, but that which they mocked at encompassed the scoffers among them.

    11. Say: Travel in the land, then see what was the end of the rejecters.

    12. Say: To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth? Say: To Allah; He has ordained mercy on Himself; most certainly He will gather you on the resurrection day-- there is no doubt about it. [As for] those who have lost their souls, they will not believe.

    13. And to Him belongs whatever dwells in the night and the day; and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

    14. Say: Shall I take a guardian besides Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, and He feeds [others] and is not [Himself] fed. Say: I am commanded to be the first who submits himself, and you should not be of the polytheists.

    15. Say: Surely I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the chastisement of a grievous day.

    16. He from whom it is averted on that day, Allah indeed has shown mercy to him; and this is a manifest achievement.

    17. And if Allah touch you with affliction, there is none to take it off but He; and if He visit you with good, then He has power over all things.

    18. And He is the Supreme, above His servants; and He is the Wise, the Aware.

    19. Say: What thing is the weightiest in testimony? Say: Allah is witness between you and me; and this Quran has been revealed to me that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. Do you really bear witness that there are other gods with Allah? Say: I do not bear witness. Say: He is only one Allah, and surely I am clear of that which you set up [with Him].

    20. Those whom We have given the Book recognize him as they recognize their sons; [as for] those who have lost their souls, they will not believe.

    21. And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah or [he who] gives the lie to His communications; surely the unjust will not be successful.

    22. And on the day when We shall gather them all together, then shall We say to those who associated others [with Allah]: Where are your associates whom you asserted?

    23. Then their excuse would be nothing but that they would say: By Allah, our  Lord, we were not polytheists.

    24. See how they lie against their own souls, and that which they forged has  passed away from them.

    25. And of them is he who hearkens to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: This is naught but the stories of the ancients.

    26. And they prohibit [others] from it and go far away from it, and they only bring destruction upon their own souls while they do not perceive.

    27. And could you see when they are made to stand before the fire, then they shall say: Would that we were sent back, and we would not reject the communications of our Lord and we would be of the believers.

    28. Nay, what they concealed before shall become manifest to them; and if they were sent back, they would certainly go back to that which they are forbidden, and most surely they are liars.

    29. And they say: There is nothing but our life of this world, and we shall not be raised.

    30. And could you see when they are made to stand before their Lord. He will say: Is not this the truth? They will say: Yea! by our Lord. He will say: Taste then the chastisement because you disbelieved.

    31. They are losers indeed who reject the meeting of Allah; until when the hour comes upon them all of a sudden they shall say: O our grief for our neglecting it! and they shall bear their burdens on their backs; now surely evil is that which they bear.

    32. And this world's life is naught but a play and an idle sport and certainly the abode of the hereafter is better for those who guard [against evil]; do you not then understand?

    33. We know indeed that what they say certainly grieves you, but surely they do not call you a liar; but the unjust deny the communications of Allah.

    34. And certainly messengers before you were rejected, but they were patient on being rejected and persecuted until Our help came to them; and there is none to change the words of Allah, and certainly there has come to you some information about the messengers.

    35. And if their turning away is hard on you, then if you can seek an opening [to go down] into the earth or a ladder [to ascend up] to heaven so that you should bring them a sign and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have gathered them all on guidance, therefore be not of the ignorant.

    36. Only those accept who listen; and [as to] the dead, Allah will raise them, then to Him they shall be returned.

    37. And they say: Why has not a sign been sent down to him from his Lord? Say: Surely Allah is able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know.

    38. And there is no animal that walks upon the earth nor a bird that flies with its two wings but [they are] genera like yourselves; We have not neglected anything in the Book, then to their Lord shall they be gathered.

    39. And they who reject Our communications are deaf and dumb, in utter darkness; whom Allah pleases He causes to err and whom He pleases He puts on the right way.

    40. Say: Tell me if the chastisement of Allah should overtake you or the hour should come upon you, will you call [on others] besides Allah, if you are truthful?

    41. Nay, Him you call upon, so He clears away that for which you pray if He pleases and you forget what you set up [with Him].

    42. And certainly We sent [messengers] to nations before you then We seized them with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves.

    43. Yet why did they not, when Our punishment came to them, humble themselves? But their hearts hardened and the Shaitan made what they did fair-seeming to them.

    44. But when they neglected that with which they had been admonished, We opened for them the doors of all things, until when they rejoiced in what they were given We seized them suddenly; then lo! they were in utter despair.

    45. So the roots of the people who were unjust were cut off; and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

    46. Say: Have you considered that if Allah takes away your hearing and your sight and sets a seal on your hearts, who is the god besides Allah that can bring it to you? See how We repeat the communications, yet they turn away.

    47. Say: Have you considered if the chastisement of Allah should overtake you suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed but the unjust people?

    48. And We send not messengers but as announcers of good news and givers of warning, then whoever believes and acts aright, they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.

    49. And [as for] those who reject Our communications, chastisement shall afflict them because they transgressed.

    50. Say: I do not say to you, I have with me the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel; I do not follow aught save that which is revealed to me. Say: Are the blind and the seeing one alike? Do you not then reflect?

    51. And warn with it those who fear that they shall be gathered to their Lord-- there is no guardian for them, nor any intercessor besides Him-- that they may guard [against evil].

    52. And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, they desire only His favor; neither are you answerable for any reckoning of theirs, nor are they answerable for any reckoning of yours, so that you should drive them away and thus be of the unjust.

    53. And thus do We try some of them by others so that they say: Are these they upon whom Allah has conferred benefit from among us? Does not Allah best know the grateful?

    54. And when those who believe in Our communications come to you, say: Peace be on you, your Lord has ordained mercy on Himself, [so] that if any one of you does evil in ignorance, then turns after that and acts aright, then He is Forgiving, Merciful.

    55. And thus do We make distinct the communications and so that the way of the  guilty may become clear.

    56. Say: I am forbidden to serve those whom you call upon besides Allah. Say: I do not follow your low desires. for then indeed I should have gone astray and I should not be of those who go aright.

    57. Say: Surely I have manifest proof from my Lord and you call it a lie; I have not with me that which you would hasten; the t judgment is only Allah's; He relates the truth and He is the best of deciders.

    58. Say: If that which you desire to hasten were with me, the matter would have certainly been decided between you and me; and Allah best knows the unjust.

    59. And with Him are the keys of the unseen treasures-- none knows them but He; and He knows what is in the land and the sea, and there falls not a leaf but He knows it, nor a grain in the darkness of the earth, nor anything green nor dry but [it is all] in a clear book.

    60. And He it is Who takes your souls at night [in sleep], and He knows what you acquire in the day, then He raises you up therein that an appointed term may be fulfilled; then to Him is your return, then He will inform you of what you were doing.

    61. And He is the Supreme, above His servants, and He sends keepers over you; until when death comes to one of you, Our messengers cause him to die, and they are not remiss.

    62. Then are they sent back to Allah, their Master, the True one; now surely His is the judgment and He is swiftest in taking account.

    63. Say: Who is it that delivers you from the dangers of the land and the sea [when] you call upon Him [openly] humiliating yourselves, and in secret: If He delivers us from this, we should certainly be of the grateful ones.

    64. Say: Allah delivers you from them and from every distress, but again you set up others [with Him].

    65. Say: He has the power that He should send on you a chastisement from above you or from beneath your feet, or that He should throw you into confusion, [making you] of different parties; and make some of you taste the fighting of others. See how We repeat the communications that they may understand.

    66. And your people call it a lie and it is the very truth. Say: I am not placed in charge of you.

    67. For every prophecy is a term, and you will come to know [it].

    68. And when you see those who enter into false discourses about Our communications, withdraw from them until they enter into some other discourse, and if the Shaitan causes you to forget, then do not sit after recollection with the unjust people.

    69. And nought of the reckoning of their [deeds] shall be against those who guard [against evil], but [theirs] is only to remind, haply they may guard.

    70. And leave those who have taken their religion for a play and an idle sport, and whom this world's life has deceived, and remind [them] thereby lest a soul should be given up to destruction for what it has earned; it shall not have besides Allah any guardian nor an intercessor, and if it should seek to give every compensation, it shall not be accepted from it; these are they who shall be given up to destruction for what they earned; they shall have a drink of boiling water and a painful chastisement because they disbelieved.

    71. Say: Shall we call on that besides Allah, which does not benefit us nor harm us, and shall we be returned back on our heels after Allah has guided us, like him whom the Shaitans have made to fall down perplexed in the earth? He has companions who call him to the right way, [saying]: Come to us. Say: Surely the guidance of Allah, that is the [true] guidance, and we are commanded that we should submit to the Lord of the worlds.

    72. And that you should keep up prayer and be careful of [your duty to] Him; and He it is to Whom you shall be gathered.

    73. And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth with truth, and on the day He says: Be, it is. His word is the truth, and His is the kingdom on the day when the trumpet shall be blown; the Knower of the unseen and the seen; and He is the Wise, the Aware.

    74. And when Ibrahim said to his sire, Azar: Do you take idols for gods? Surely I see you and your people in manifest error.

    75. And thus did We show Ibrahim the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and that he might be of those who are sure.

    76. So when the night over-shadowed him, he saw a star; said he: Is this my Lord? So when it set, he said: I do not love the setting ones.

    77. Then when he saw the moon rising, he said: Is this my Lord? So when it set, he said: If my Lord had not guided me I should certainly be of the erring people.

    78. Then when he saw the sun rising, he said: Is this my Lord? Is this the greatest? So when it set, he said: O my people! surely I am clear of what you set up [with Allah].

    79. Surely I have turned myself, being upright, wholly to Him Who originated the heavens and the earth, and I am not of the polytheists.

    80. And his people disputed with him. He said: Do you dispute with me respecting Allah? And He has guided me indeed; and I do not fear in any way those that you set up with Him, unless my Lord pleases; my Lord comprehends all things in His knowledge; will you not then mind?

    81. And how should I fear what you have set up [with Him], while you do not fear that you have set up with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority; which then of the two parties is surer of security, if you know?

    82. Those who believe and do not mix up their faith with iniquity, those are they who shall have the security and they are those who go aright.

    83. And this was Our argument which we gave to Ibrahim against his people; We exalt in dignity whom We please; surely your Lord is Wise, Knowing.

    84. And We gave to him Ishaq and Yaqoub; each did We guide, and Nuh did We guide before, and of his descendants, Dawood and Sulaiman and Ayub and Yusuf and Haroun; and thus do We reward those who do good [to others].

    85. And Zakariya and Yahya and Isa and Ilyas; every one was of the good;

    86. And Ismail and Al-Yasha and Yunus and Lut; and every one We made to excel[in] the worlds:

    87. And from among their fathers and their descendants and their brethren, and We chose them and guided them into the right way.

    88. This is Allah's guidance, He guides thereby whom He pleases of His servants; and if they had set up others [with Him], certainly what they did would have become ineffectual for them.

    Quote
    89. These are they to whom We gave the book and the wisdom and the prophecy;  therefore if these disbelieve in it We have already entrusted with it a people who are not disbelievers in it.

    90. These are they whom Allah guided, therefore follow their guidance. Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it; it is nothing but a reminder to the nations.

    91. And they do not assign to Allah the attributes due to Him when they say: Allah has not revealed anything to a mortal. Say: Who revealed the Book which Musa brought, a light and a guidance to men, which you make into scattered writings which you show while you conceal much? And you were taught what you did not know, [neither] you nor your fathers. Say: Allah then leave them sporting in their vain discourses.

    92. And this is a Book We have revealed, blessed, verifying that which is before it, and that you may warn the metropolis and those around her; and those who believe in the hereafter believe in it, and they attend to their prayers constantly.

    93. And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah, or says: It has been revealed to me; while nothing has been revealed to him, and he who says: I can reveal the like of what Allah has revealed? and if you had seen when the unjust shall be in the agonies of death and the angels shall spread forth their hands: Give up your souls; today shall you be recompensed with an ignominious chastisement because you spoke against Allah other than the truth and [because] you showed pride against His communications.

    94. And certainly you have come to Us alone as We created you at first, and you have left behind your backs the things which We gave you, and We do not see with you your intercessors about whom you asserted that they were [Allah's] associates in respect to you; certainly the ties between you are now cut off and what you asserted is gone from you.

    95. Surely Allah causes the grain and the stone to germinate; He brings forth the living from the dead and He is the bringer forth of the dead from the living; that is Allah! how are you then turned away.

    96. He causes the dawn to break; and He has made the night for rest, and the sun and the moon for reckoning; this is an arrangement of the Mighty, the Knowing.

    97. And He it is Who has made the stars for you that you might follow the right way thereby in the darkness of the land and the sea; truly We have made plain the communications for a people who know.

    98. And He it is Who has brought you into being from a single soul, then there is [for you] a resting-place and a depository; indeed We have made plain the communications for a people who understand.

    99. And He it is Who sends down water from the cloud, then We bring forth with it buds of all [plants], then We bring forth from it green [foliage] from which We produce grain piled up [in the ear]; and of the palm-tree, of the sheaths of it, come forth clusters [of dates] within reach, and gardens of grapes and olives and pomegranates, alike and unlike; behold the fruit of it when it yields the fruit and the ripening of it; most surely there are signs in this for a people who believe.

    100. And they make the jinn associates with Allah, while He created them, and they falsely attribute to Him sons and daughters without knowledge; glory be to Him, and highly exalted is He above what they ascribe [to Him].

    101. Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth! How could He have a son when He has no consort, and He [Himself] created everything, and He is the Knower of all things.

    102. That is Allah, your Lord, there is no god but He; the Creator of all things, therefore serve Him, and He has charge of all things.[/i]

    103. Vision comprehends Him not, and He comprehends [all] vision; and He is the Knower of subtleties, the Aware.

    104. Indeed there have come to you clear proofs from your Lord; whoever will therefore see, it is for his own soul and whoever will be blind, it shall be against himself and I am not a keeper over you.

105.And thus do We repeat the communications and that they may say: You have read; and that We may make it clear to a people who know.

    106. Follow what is revealed to you from your Lord; there is no god but He; and withdraw from the polytheists.

    107. And if Allah had pleased, they would not have set up others [with Him] and We have not appointed you a keeper over them, and you are not placed in charge of them.

    108. And do not abuse those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest exceeding the limits they should abuse Allah out of ignorance. Thus have We made fair seeming to every people their deeds; then to their Lord shall be their return, so He will inform them of what they did.

    109. And they swear by Allah with the strongest of their oaths, that if a sign came to them they would most certainly believe in it. Say: Signs are only with Allah; and what should make you know that when it comes they will not believe?

    110. And We will turn their hearts and their sights, even as they did not believe in it the first time, and We will leave them in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.

    111. And even if We had sent down to them the angels and the dead had spoken to them and We had brought together all things before them, they would not believe unless Allah pleases, but most of them are ignorant.

    112. And thus did We make for every prophet an enemy, the Shaitans from among men and jinn, some of them suggesting to others varnished falsehood to deceive [them], and had your Lord pleased they would not have done it, therefore leave them and that which they forge.

    113. And that the hearts of those who do not believe in the hereafter may incline to it and that they may be well pleased with it and that they may earn what they are going to earn [of evil].

    114. Shall I then seek a judge other than Allah? And He it is Who has revealed to you the Book [which is] made plain; and those whom We have given the Book know that it is revealed by your Lord with truth, therefore you should not be of the disputers.

    115. And the word of your Lord has been accomplished truly and justly; there is none who can change His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

    116. And if you obey most of those in the earth, they will lead you astray from Allah's way; they follow but conjecture and they only lie.

    117. Surely your Lord-- He best knows who goes astray from His way, and He best knows those who follow the right course.

    18. Therefore eat of that on which Allah's name has been mentioned if you are believers in His communications.

    119. And what reason have you that you should not eat of that on which Allah's name has been mentioned, and He has already made plain to you what He has forbidden to you-- excepting what you are compelled to; and most surely many would lead [people] astray by their low desires out of ignorance; surely your Lord-- He best knows those who exceed the limits.

    120. And abandon open and secret sin; surely they who earn sin shall be recompensed with what they earned.

    121. And do not eat of that on which Allah's name has not been mentioned, and that is most surely a transgression; and most surely the Shaitans suggest to their friends that they should contend with you; and if you obey them, you shall most surely be polytheists.

    122. Is he who was dead then We raised him to life and made for him a light by which he walks among the people, like him whose likeness is that of one in utter darkness whence he cannot come forth? Thus what they did was made fair seeming to the unbelievers.

    123. And thus have We made in every town the great ones to be its guilty ones, that they may plan therein; and they do not plan but against their own souls, and they do not perceive.

    124. And when a communication comes to them they say: We will not believe till we are given the like of what Allah's messengers are given. Allah best knows where He places His message. There shall befall those who are guilty humiliation from Allah and severe chastisement because of what they planned.

    125. Therefore [for] whomsoever Allah intends that He would guide him aright, He expands his breast for Islam, and [for] whomsoever He intends that He should cause him to err, He makes his breast strait and narrow as though he were ascending upwards; thus does Allah lay uncleanness on those who do not believe.

    126. And this is the path of your Lord, [a] right [path]; indeed We have made the communications clear for a people who mind.

    127. They shall have the abode of peace with their Lord, and He is their guardian because of what they did.

    128. And on the day when He shall gather them all together: O assembly of jinn! you took away a great part of mankind. And their friends from among the men shall say: Our Lord! some of us profited by others and we have reached our appointed term which Thou didst appoint for us. He shall say: The fire is your abode, to abide in it, except as Allah is pleased; surely your Lord is Wise, Knowing.

    129. And thus do We make some of the iniquitous to befriend others on account of what they earned.

    130. O assembly of jinn and men! did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My communications and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours? They shall say: We bear witness against ourselves; and this world's life deceived them, and they shall bear witness against their own souls that they were unbelievers.

    131. This is because your Lord would not destroy towns unjustly while their people were negligent.

    132. And all have degrees according to what they do; and your Lord is not heedless of what they do.

    Quote
    133. And your Lord is the Self-sufficient one, the Lord of mercy; if He pleases, He may take you off, and make whom He pleases successors after you, even as He raised you up from the seed of another people.

    134. Surely what you are threatened with must come to pass and you cannot escape [it].

    135. Say: O my people! act according to your ability; I too am acting; so you will soon come to know, for whom [of us] will be the [good] end of the abode; surely the unjust shall not be successful.

    136. And they set apart a portion for Allah out of what He has created of tilth and cattle, and say: This is for Allah-- so they assert-- and this for our associates; then what is for their associates, it reaches not to Allah, and whatever is [set apart] for Allah, it reaches to their associates; evil is that which they judge.

    137. And thus their associates have made fair seeming to most of the polytheists the killing of their children, that they may cause them to perish and obscure for them their religion; and if Allah had pleased, they would not have done it, therefore leave them and that which they forge.

    138. And they say: These are cattle and tilth prohibited, none shall eat them except such as We please-- so they assert-- and cattle whose backs are forbidden, and cattle on which they would not mention Allah's name-- forging a lie against Him; He shall requite them for what they forged.

    139. And they say: What is in the wombs of these cattle is specially for our males, and forbidden to our wives, and if it be stillborn, then they are all partners in it; He will reward them for their attributing [falsehood to Allah]; surely He is Wise, Knowing.

    140. They are lost indeed who kill their children foolishly without knowledge, and forbid what Allah has given to them forging a lie against Allah; they have indeed gone astray, and they are not the followers of the right course.

    141. And He it is Who produces gardens [of vine], trellised and untrellised, and palms and seed-produce of which the fruits are of various sorts, and olives and pomegranates, like and unlike; eat of its fruit when it bears fruit, and pay the due of it on the day of its reaping, and do not act extravagantly; surely He does not love the extravagant.

    142. And of cattle [He created] beasts of burden and those which are fit for slaughter only; eat of what Allah has given you and do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan; surely he is your open enemy.

    143. Eight in pairs-- two of sheep and two of goats. Say: Has He forbidden the two males or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge if you are truthful.

    144. And two of camels and two of cows. Say: Has He forbidden the two males or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allah enjoined you this? Who, then, is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah that he should lead astray men without knowledge? Surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

    145. Say: I do not find in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden for an eater to eat of except that it be what has died of itself, or blood poured forth, or flesh of swine-- for that surely is unclean-- or that which is a transgression, other than [the name of] Allah having been invoked on it; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring nor exceeding the limit, then surely your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.

    146. And to those who were Jews We made unlawful every animal having claws, and of oxen and sheep We made unlawful to them the fat of both, except such as was on their backs or the entrails or what was mixed with bones: this was a punishment We gave them on account of their rebellion, and We are surely Truthful.

    147. But if they give you the lie, then say: Your Lord is the Lord of Allencompassing mercy; and His punishment cannot be averted from the guilty people.

    148. Those who are polytheists will say: If Allah had pleased we would not have associated [aught with Him] nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden [to ourselves] anything; even so did those before them reject until they tasted Our punishment. Say: Have you any knowledge with you so you should bring it forth to us? You only follow a conjecture and you only tell lies.

    149. Say: Then Allah's is the conclusive argument; so if He please, He would certainly guide you all.

    150. Say: Bring your witnessses who should bear witness that Allah has forbidden this, then if they bear witness, do not bear witness with them; and follow not the low desires of those who reject Our communications and of those who do not believe in the hereafter, and they make [others] equal to their Lord.

    151. Say: Come I will recite what your Lord has forbidden to you-- [remember] that you do not associate anything with Him and show kindness to your parents, and do not slay your children for [fear of] poverty-- We provide for you and for them-- and do not draw nigh to indecencies, those of them which are apparent and those which are concealed, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except for the requirements of justice; this He has enjoined you with that you may understand.

    152. And do not approach the property of the orphan except in the best manner until he attains his maturity, and give full measure and weight with justice-- We do not impose on any soul a duty except to the extent of its ability; and when you speak, then be just though it be [against] a relative, and fulfill  Allah's covenant; this He has enjoined you with that you may be mindful;

    153. And [know] that this is My path, the right one therefore follow it, and follow not [other] ways, for they will lead you away from His way; this He has enjoined you with that you may guard [against evil].

    154. Again, We gave the Book to Musa to complete [Our blessings] on him who would do good [to others], and making plain all things and a guidance and a mercy, so that they should believe in the meeting of their Lord.

    155. And this is a Book We have revealed, blessed; therefore follow it and guard [against evil] that mercy may be shown to you.

    156. Lest you say that the Book was only revealed to two parties before us and We were truly unaware of what they read.

    157. Or lest you should say: If the Book had been revealed to us, we would certainly have been better guided than they, so indeed there has come to you clear proof from your Lord, and guidance and mercy. Who then is more unjust than he who rejects Allah's communications and turns away from them? We will reward those who turn away from Our communications with an evil chastisement because they turned away.

    158. They do not wait aught but that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the signs of your Lord should come. On the day when some of the signs of your Lord shall come, its faith shall not profit a soul which did not believe before, or earn good through its faith. Say: Wait; we too are waiting.

    159. Surely they who divided their religion into parts and became sects, you have no concern with them; their affair is only with Allah, then He will inform them of what they did.

    160. Whoever brings a good deed, he shall have ten like it, and whoever brings an evil deed, he shall be recompensed only with the like of it, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.

    161. Say: Surely, [as for] me, my Lord has guided me to the right path; [to] a most right religion, the faith of Ibrahim the upright one, and he was not of the polytheists.

    162. Say. Surely my prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are [all] for Allah, the Lord of the worlds;

    163. No associate has He; and this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who submit.

    164. Say: What! shall I seek a Lord other than Allah? And He is the Lord of all things; and no soul earns [evil] but against itself, and no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your Lord is your return, so He will inform you of that in which you differed.

    165. And He it is Who has made you successors in the land and raised some of you above others by [various] grades, that He might try you by what He has given you; surely your Lord is quick to requite [evil], and He is most surely the Forgiving, the Merciful.

this folder always needs reading and writing and using brain to navigate Quran verses., So let read Quran in response to A Muslim Quran Post  ., he wrote
Brief introduction to why we should doubt the claim that the Qur’ān is of divine origins — evidences that show Muhammad frequented with Christians and Jews (this includes Muhammad listening to the People of the Book recite their scriptures), and evidences of plagiarism:

The tafsīr of Surah al-Muddaththir, ayāh 25 by Al-Jalalayn, says: “this is nothing but the speech of humans’ similar to what they the idolaters had said ‘It is only a human that is teaching him’ Q. 16103”. But who is this ayāh specifically referring to? Ibn Abbas, in his tafsīr, tells us in the tafsīr of the same ayāh (25) in Surah al-Muddaththir: “(This) which Muhammad (pbuh) says, is (naught else than speech of mortal man) the speech of JABR and YASAR”. Now that we know their names, who were these two individuals? Al-Jalalayn tells us in his tafsīr of Surah An-Nahl, ayāh 103: “And verily wa-laqad is for confirmation We know that they say ‘It is only a human that is teaching him the Qur’ān’ — this was a CHRISTIAN BLACKSMITH whom THE PROPHET USED TO FREQUENT. God exalted be He says The tongue the language of him to whom they refer to whom they incline with the accusation that he is the one teaching him is foreign’; while this Qur’ān is in a clear Arabic tongue one of lucidity and clarity so how can a foreigner be teaching him?”. Here, it is clear that Muhammad would regularly go and see this Christian blacksmith.

and A Muslim says" that evidences of plagiarism in  Quran cab be found just by reading tafsir a verse from  Surah al-Muddaththir, ayāh 25.,"   AND I SAY THAT IS NOT A CORRECT APPROACH in addressing problems in Quranic texts ..

for e.g in that  surah  Al-Muddaththir verse 25 :  it says
    Quote
Verse 25.    This is naught but the word of a mortal.

How can we say Quran is plagiarized  just reading above statement ? no we can not., we must read atleast 10 verses above and 10 verses to make some story on that verse., Ideally one should read whole surah.,  After all Surah 74. Al-Muddaththir  has just 56 verses  .. just 56 statements ., So let me read that to A Muslim..

    Quote
    1.   O you who are clothed!
    2.   Arise and warn,
    3.   And your Lord do magnify,
    4.   And your garments do purify,
    5.   And uncleanness do shun,And uncleanness do shun,
    6.   And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase,
    7.   And for the sake of your Lord, be patient.
    8.   For when the trumpet is sounded,
    9.   That, at that time, shall be a difficult day,
    10.   For the unbelievers, anything but easy.
    11.   Leave Me and him whom I created alone,
    12.   And give him vast riches,
    13.   And sons dwelling in his presence,
    14.   And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably;
    15.   And yet he desires that I should add more!
    16.   By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications.
    17.   I will make a distressing punishment overtake him.
    18.   Surely he reflected and guessed,
    19.   But may he be cursed how he plotted;
    20.   Again, may he be cursed how he plotted;
    21.   Then he looked,
    22.   Then he frowned and scowled,
    23.   Then he turned back and was big with pride,
    24.   ~Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others);
25: This is naught but the word of a mortal.
    26.   I will cast him into hell.
    27.   And what will make you realize what hell is?
    28.   It leaves naught nor does it spare aught.
    29.   It scorches the mortal.
    30.   Over it are nineteen.
    31.   And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals.
    32.   Nay; I swear by the moon,
    33.   And the night when it departs,
    34.   And the daybreak when it shines;
    35.   Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes),
    36.   A warning to mortals,
    37.   To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind.
    38.   Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns,
    39.   Except the people of the right hand,
    40.   In gardens, they shall ask each other
    41.   About the guilty:
    42.   What has brought you into hell?
    43.   They shall say: We were not of those who prayed;
    44.   And we used not to feed the poor;
    45.   And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses.
    46.   And we used to call the day of judgment a lie;
    47.   Till death overtook us.
    48.   So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them.
    49.   What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition
    50.   As if they were asses taking fright
    51.   That had fled from a lion?
    52.   Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out;
    53.   Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter.
    54.   Nay! it is surely an admonition.
    55.   So whoever pleases may mind it.
    56.   And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive.

Even  reading all those 56 statements whole chapter  tells you nothing about the events and the reasons why such verses were allegedly reveled to alleged Prophet of Islam.,

in fact it sounds like some one making noise ..babbling some some sounds and it is one of those surahs that has no head and no tail to make some sense out of it ., well that is casual reading., but let me read it carefully

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything

well let me get  back to reading Quran.. although I read Quran all the time to understand the reasons for its revelation but reading whole chapter or whole book at a time is taxing on my brain as there are so many distractions....

Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi   says  this...............

and that is what I said reading Quran through its alleged revelation order and that post I wrote on   July 06, 2019,   Damn it took almost 8 months  to comeback and read   Quran in proper format of this folder ., anyway ,, we read 55 chapters of Quran. and  Allah says.,  our next   chapter  to read Quran  through the revelation order is  off course chapter 56.,    And chapter 56 in the revelation order means  we have to read chapter 37 of the book   .,

Damn confusion in Islam starts right from the beginning .. right from  the book Quran... any way   let us read chapter 56 aka chapter-37 which is named as Al-Saffat,

and my good friend Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi tafsir on Surah  Al-Saffat,  says this

    Quote
      37. Surah As Saaffat (Those who set the ranks)

      Name:
The name is derived from the word was saaffat with which the Surah begins.

      Period of Revelation:

The subject matter and the style show that this Surah probably was sent down in the middle of the Makkan period, or perhaps in the last stage of the middle Makkan period. The style clearly indicates that antagonism is raging strong in the background and the Holy Prophet and his Companions are passing through very difficult and discouraging circumstances.

      Subject Matter and Theme:

The disbelievers of Makkah have been severely warned for their attitude of mockery and derision with which they were responding to the Holy Prophet's message of Tauhid and the Hereafter and for their utter refusal to accept and acknowledge his claim to Prophethood. In the end, they have been plainly warned that the Prophet whom they are mocking and ridiculing will overwhelm them in spite of their power and self and they will find the army of Allah encamping in the very courtyards of their houses (vv. 171-179. This notice was given at a time when there appeared no chance whatever of the Holy Prophet's success and triumph. The Muslims (who have been called Allah's army in these verses) were being made the target of severe persecution. Three- fourth of their population had already emigrated and hardly 40 to 50 of the Companions were left with the Holy Prophet in Makkah who were experiencing all sorts of the excesses with utter helplessness. Under such circumstances, in view of the apparent conditions, no one could believe that the Holy Prophet and the handful of his ill equipped Companions would ultimately attain dominance. The people rather thought that the new movement would end and be buried in the ravines of Makkah. But hardly 15 to 16 years had passed when on the conquest of Makkah precisely the same thing happened of which the disbelievers had been forewarned.

Along with administering warnings, Allah in this Surah has done full justice also to the theme of inducement and instruction in a balanced way. Brief but impressive arguments have been given about the validity of the doctrines of Tauhid and the Hereafter. Criticism has been made of the creed of the mushrikin to show the absurdity of their beliefs; they have been informed of the evil consequences of their deviations, which have been contrasted with the splendid results of the faith and righteous acts. Then, in continuation of the same, Precedents from past history have been cited to show how Allah had been treating His Prophets and their followers : how He has been favoring His faithful servants and punishing their deniers and rejectors.

The most instructive of the historical narratives presented in this Surah is the important event of the pious life of the Prophet Abraham, who became ready to sacrifice his only son as soon as he received an inspiration from Allah. In this there was a lesson not only for the disbelieving Quraish, who waxed proud of their blood relationship with him, but also for the Muslims who had believed in Allah and His Messenger. By narrating this event they were told what is the essence and the real spirit of Islam, and how a true believer should be ready to sacrifice his all for the pleasure and approval of Allah after he has adopted it as his Faith and Creed.

The last verses of the Surah were not only a warning for the disbelievers but also a good news for the believers who were passing through highly unfavorable and discouraging conditions on account of their supporting and following the Holy Prophet. In these verses they were given the good news that they should not be disheartened at the hardships and difficulties they had to encounter in the beginning, for in the end they alone would attain dominance, and the standard bearers of falsehood, who appeared to be dominant at the time would be overwhelmed and vanquished at their hands. A few years later the turn the events took, proved that it was not an empty consolation but an inevitable reality of which they had been foretold in order to strengthen their hearts.

well  .............whatever.................  It is all about mocking Prophet's revelation in Mecca ....  and Surah As Saaffat .. Surah 56 in revelation order has some 182 verses in it ., Let me read it casually
    Quote
    Quote
    1.    I swear by those who draw themselves out in ranks

    2.    Then those who drive away with reproof,

    3.   Then those who recite, being mindful,

    4.   Most surely your Allah is One:

    5.   The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts.

    6.    Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars,

    7.    And (there is) a safeguard against every rebellious Shaitan.

    8.    They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side,

    9.    Being driven off, and for them is a perpetual chastisement,

    10.    Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame.

    11.    Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of firm clay.

    12.    Nay! you wonder while they mock,

    13.    And when they are reminded, they mind not,

    14.    And when they see a sign they incite one another to scoff,

    15.    And they say: This is nothing but clear magic:

    16.    What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then certainly be raised,

    17.    Or our fathers of yore?

    18.    Say: Aye! and you shall be abject.

    19.    So it shall only be a single cry, when lo! they shall see.

    20.    And they shall say: O woe to us! this is the day of requital.

    Quote
    21.    This is the day of the judgment which you called a lie.

    22.    Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship

    23.    Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell.

    24.    And stop them, for they shall be questioned:

    25.    What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?

    26.    Nay! on that day they shall be submissive.

    27.    And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other.

    28.    They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side.

    29.    They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers;

    30.    And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people;

    31.     So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste;

    32.    So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring.

    33.    So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another.

    34.    Surely thus do We deal with the guilty.

    35.    Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah;

    36.    And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet?

    37.    Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles.

    38.    Most surely you will taste the painful punishment.

    39.    And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did.

    40.    Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

    Quote
    41.    For them is a known sustenance,

    42.     Fruits, and they shall be highly honored,

    43.    In gardens of pleasure,

    44.    On thrones, facing each other.

    45.    A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs,

    46.    White, delicious to those who drink.

    47.    There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith.

    48.    And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes;

    49.    As if they were eggs carefully protected.

    50.    Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other.

    51.    A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine,

    52.    Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)?

    53.    What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment?

    54.    He shall say: Will you look on?

    55.    Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell.

    56.    He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish;

    57.    And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up.

    58.    Is it then that we are not going to die,

    59.    Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised?

    60.    Most surely this is the mighty achievement.

well let me read through those verses carefully and also edit the post on the way......., This surah with 182 verses need to be split to make it readable..  So let me post 60 verses or so in each post

    61.   For the like of this then let the workers work.

    62.   Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum?

    63.   Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust.

    64.   Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell;

    65.   Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents.

    66.   Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it.

    67.    Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water.

    68.    Then most surely their return shall be to hell.

    69.   Surely they found their fathers going astray,

    70.   So in their footsteps they are being hastened on.

    71.   And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them,

    72.   And certainly We sent among them warners.

    73.   Then see how was the end of those warned,

    74.   Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

    75.   And Nuh did certainly call upon Us, and most excellent answerer of prayer are We.

    76.   And We delivered him and his followers from the mighty distress.

    77.   And We made his offspring the survivors.

    78.   And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations.

    79.   Peace and salutation to Nuh among the nations.

    80.   Thus do We surely reward the doers of good.

    Quote
    81.   Surely he was of Our believing servants.

    82.   Then We drowned the others

    83.   And most surely Ibrahim followed his way.

    84.   When he came to his Lord with a free heart,

    85.   When he said to his father and his people: What is it that you worship?

    86.   A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire?

    87.   What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds?

    88.   Then he looked at the stars, looking up once,

    89.   Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these).

    90.   So they went away from him, turning back.

    91.   Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat?

    92.   What is the matter with you that you do not speak?

    93.   Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand.

    94.   So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening.

    95.   Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out?

    96.   And Allah has created you and what you make.

    97.   They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire.

    98.   And they desired a war against him, but We brought them low.

    99.   And he said: Surely I fly to my lord; He will guide me.

    100.   My Lord! grant me of the doers of good deeds.

    Quote
    101.   So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance.

    102.   And when he attained to working with him, he said: O my son! surely I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you; consider then what you see. He said:  O my father! do what you are commanded; if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones.

    103.   So when they both submitted and he threw him down upon his forehead,

    104.   And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim!

    105.   You have indeed shown the truth of the vision; surely thus do We reward the doers of good:

    106.   Most surely this is a manifest trial.

    107.   And We ransomed him with a Feat sacrifice.

    108.   And We perpetuated (praise) to him among the later generations.

    109.   Peace be on Ibrahim.

    110.   Thus do We reward the doers of good.

    111.   Surely he was one of Our believing servants.

    112.   And We gave him the good news of Ishaq, a prophet among the good ones.

    113.   And We showered Our blessings on him and on Ishaq; and of their offspring are the doers of
good, and (also) those who are clearly unjust to their own souls.

    114.   And certainly We conferred a favor on Musa and Haroun.

    115.   And We delivered them both and their people from the mighty distress.

    116.   And We helped them, so they were the vanquishers.

    117.   And We gave them both the Book that made (things) clear.

    118.   And We guided them both on the right way.

    119.   And We perpetuated (praise) to them among the later generations.

    120.   Peace be on Musa and Haroun.

    121.   Even thus do We reward the doers of good.

    122.   Surely they were both of Our believing servants.

    123.   And Ilyas was most surely of the apostles.

    124.   When he said to his people: Do you not guard (against evil)?

    125.   What! do you call upon Ba'l and forsake the best of the creators,

    126.   Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore?

    127.   But they called him a liar, therefore they shall most surely be brought up.

    128.   But not the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

    129.   And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations.

    130.   Peace be on Ilyas.

    134.   When We delivered him and his followers, all--

    135.   Except an old woman (who was) amongst those who tarried.

    136.   Then We destroyed the others.

    137.   And most surely you pass by them in the morning,

    138.   And at night; do you not then understand?

    139.   And Yunus was most surely of the apostles.

    140.   When he ran away to a ship completely laden,

    141.   So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off.

    142.   So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself

    143.   But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us),

    144.   He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised.

    145.   Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick.

    146.   And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant.

    147.   And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded.

    148.   And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time.

    149.   Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons.

    150.   Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses?

    151.   Now surely it is of their own lie that they say:

    152.   Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars.

    153.   Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?

    154.   What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge?

    155.   Will you not then mind?

    156.   Or have you a clear authority?

    157.   Then bring your book, if you are truthful.

    158.   And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they
    shall surely be brought up;

    159.   Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe;

    160.   But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

    Quote
    161.   So surely you and what you worship,

    162.   Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial,

    163.   Save him who will go to hell.

    164.   And there is none of us but has an assigned place,

    165.   And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks,

    166.   And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah).

    167.   And surely they used to say:

    168.   Had we a reminder from those of yore,

    169.   We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones.

    170.   But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know.

    171.   And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles:

    172.   Most surely they shall be the assisted ones

    173.   And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones.

    174.   Therefore turn away from them till a time,

    175.   And (then) see them, so they too shall see.

    176.   What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement?

    177.   But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones.

    178.   And turn away from them till a time

    179.   And (then) see, for they too shall see.

    180.   Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe.

    181.   And peace be on the apostles.

    182.   And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

"So called muslim in America spreading hate among muslims" says  Rana Azeem

well that is  RANA MUHAMMAD AZEEM., apparently he himself appointed as President for Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist., never heard of that ., I guess he made his own union and became its president .. Rana come to this place and read Quran in this folder whole book  all verses.. and more.. well  https://twitter.com/ranazeempfuj

well on that note let me read Quran today that is relevant to this folder

The Ayahs of the Qur'an:  The Muhkam and the Mutashabih

    Quote
Muhkam Ayahs: These are the ayahs (verses) that, according to the rules of the Arabic language, have only one meaning or are those with a clear......

Mutashabih Ayahs: These are the , ayahs that, according to the rules of the Arabic language, can have many meanings. Assigning acceptable meanings to these ayahs requires proper Knowledge of the Arabic Language and thorough thinking....

And putting Quran verses in to those two categories is also based on this Quran verses from Suran Imran

    Quote
Yusuf Ali:   He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning);  they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.

Shakir:   He it is Who has revealed the Book to you; some of its verses are decisive, they are the basis of the Book, and others are allegorical; then as for those in whose hearts there is perversity they follow the part of it which is allegorical, seeking to mislead and seeking to give it (their own)  interpretation. but none knows its interpretation except Allah, and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say: We believe in it, it is all from our Lord; and none do mind except those having understanding.

Pickthall:   He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad)  the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are)[/s]  allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. And those who are of sound instruction say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed.

Mohsin Khan:   It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the Book (this Qur'an).. In it are Verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book [and those are the Verses of Al-Ahkam (commandments),. Al-Fara'id (obligatory duties) .and Al-Hudud (legal laws for the punishment of thieves, adulterers)];. and others not entirely clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) .they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials), .and seeking for its hidden meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings save Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in it; the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord." And none receive admonition except men of understanding. (Tafsir At-Tabari).

Saheeh:   It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth],  they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding.

This foolish Quran   translator ., The Pashtun  Mohsin Khan adds lots of his own stuff in to that translated Quran.. so delete his words before you read his translation  .. Anyways that is the verse which folks use to put Quran verses in to two different categories

well the last surah I read from Quran in this folder is surah-56 in the order of revelation  (NOT THE BOOKISH ORDER) ., So we read 56 surahs... and we got nothing on Prophet of Islam "Muhammad".. WHO WAS MUHAMMAD??   well it doesn't matter... So let me go read surah 57 and our surah-57 name is " Luqman"    apparently revealed in    Mecca.  but in the book it is Surah number 31..

So on that Surah_Luqman., The old man of east Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi  wrote this tafsir..
    Quote
NameThe Surah has been named Luqman after Luqman the Sage, whose admonitions to his son have been related in vv. 12-19 of this Surah.

    Period of Revelation:

A perusal of the subject matter shows that it was sent down in the period when persecution to suppress and thwart the invitation to Islam had begun and every sort of machination had started being employed for the purpose. This is borne out by vv. 14-15, in which the young converts to Islam have been told that although the rights of the parents are the uppermost after God, they should not listen to them if they prevented them from accepting Islam, or compelled them to revert to the creed of shirk and polytheism.

The same thing has been said in Surah Al-Ankabut, which indicates that both these Surahs were sent down in the same period. A study of the style and subject matter of the two Surahs on the whole, however, shows that Surah Luqman was sent down earlier, for one does not see any sign of the antagonism in its background though, contrary to this, while studying Surah Al-Ankabut one can clearly feel that the Muslims were being severely persecuted during the period of its revelation.

    Theme and Subject matter

In this Surah the people have been made to understand the meaninglessness and absurdity of shirk and the truth and reasonableness of Tauhid, and they have been invited to give up blind imitation of their forefathers, consider with a cool mind the teachings which the Prophet Muhammad (upon whom be Allah's peace and blessings) is presenting from the Lord of the worlds, and see with open eyes the manifest Signs found in the universe around them and in their own selves, which bear evidence to its truth.

In this connection, it has also been pointed out that this is not a new teaching which might have been, presented in the world, or in the land of Arabia, for the first time, and with which the people might be unfamiliar.
    Quote
The learned and wise people of the past ages said and taught the same thing which Muhammad (upon whom be Allah's peace) is teaching today. It is as if to say, "O people! In your own country there has lived a wise man, named Luqman, whose wisdom has been well known among you, whose proverbs and wise sayings are cited in your daily conversation and who is often quoted by your poets and orators. Now you should see for yourselves what creed and what morals he used to teach.

    "

well that is what he says.. whatever .. but in the next post  let me read Chapter 57 .. aka Chapter 31 of the book

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim

So   surah_57.. or Surah-31 of the book and that is Surah_" Luqman"    we are reading..

    Quote
    1.   Alif Lam Mim.

    2.   These are verses of the Book of Wisdom

    3.    A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness,

    4.    Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter.

    5.   These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful:

    6.   And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah's path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement.

    7.   And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement.

    8.   (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss,

    9.   Abiding in them; the promise of Allah; (a) true (promise),  and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

    10.   He created the heavens without pillars as you see them, and put mountains upon the earth lest it might convulse with you, and He spread in it animals of every kind; and We sent down water from the cloud, then caused to grow therein (vegetation) of every noble kind.

    11.   This is Allah's creation, but show Me what those besides Him have created. Nay, the unjust are in manifest error

    12.   And certainly We gave wisdom to Luqman, saying: Be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful for his own soul; and whoever is ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised.

    13.   And when Luqman said to his son while he admonished him: O my son! do not associate aught with Allah; most surely polytheism is a grievous iniquity--

    14.   And We have enjoined man in respect of his parents-- his mother bears him with faintings upon faintings and his weaning takes two years-- saying: Be grateful to Me and to both your parents; to Me is the eventual coming.

    15.   And if they contend with you that you should associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them, and keep company with them in this world kindly, and follow the way of him who turns to Me, then to Me is your return, then will I inform you of what you did--

    16.   O my son! surely if it is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in (the heart of) rock, or (high above) in the heaven or (deep down) in the earth, Allah will bring it (to light); surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware;

    17.   O my son! keep up prayer and enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and bear patiently that which befalls you; surely these acts require courage;

    18.   And do not turn your face away from people in contempt, nor go about in the land exulting overmuch; surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster;

    19.   And pursue the right course in your going about and lower your voice; surely the most hateful of voices is braying of the asses.

    20.   Do you not see that Allah has made what is in the heavens and what is in the earth subservient to you, and made complete to you His favors outwardly and inwardly? And among men is he who disputes in respect of Allah though having no knowledge nor guidance, nor a book giving light.

    21.   And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay, we follow that on which we found our fathers. What! though the Shaitan calls them to the chastisement of the burning fire!

    22.   And whoever submits himself wholly to Allah and he is the doer of good (to others), he indeed has taken hold of the firmest thing upon which one can lay hold; and Allah's is the end of affairs.

    23.   And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you; to Us is their return, then will We inform them of what they did surely Allah is the Knower of what is in the breasts.

    24.   We give them to enjoy a little, then will We drive them to a severe chastisement.

    25.   And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say: Allah. Say: (All) praise is due to Allah; nay! most of them do not know.

    26.   What is in the heavens and the earth is Allah's; surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised.

    27.   And were every tree that is in the earth (made into) pens and the sea (to supply it with ink), with seven more seas to increase it, the words of Allah would not come to an end; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

    28.   Neither your creation nor your raising is anything but as a single soul; surely Allah is Hearing, Seeing.

    29.   Do you not see that Allah makes the night to enter into the day, and He makes the day to enter into the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient (to you); each pursues its course till an appointed time; and that Allah is Aware of what you do?

    30.   This is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon besides Him is the falsehood, and that Allah is the High, the Great.

    31.   Do you not see that the ships run on in the sea by Allah's favor that He may show you of His signs? Most surely there are signs in this for every patient endurer, grateful one.

    32.   And when a wave like mountains covers them they call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, but when He brings them safe to the land, some of them follow the middle course; and none denies Our signs but every perfidious, ungrateful one.

    33.   O people! guard against (the punishment of)  your Lord and dread the day when a father shall not make any satisfaction for his son, nor shall the child be the maker of any satisfaction for his father; surely the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not this world's life deceive you, nor let the arch deceiver deceive you in respect of Allah.

    34.   Surely Allah is He with Whom is the knowledge of the hour, and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs; and no one knows what he shall earn on the morrow; and no one knows in what land he shall die; surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.

well it just as 34 verses.. sounds like nice sonnet .. but let me read it carefully
