    Wish there had been a précis in 250 words, or letting you know the total pages turned, I stopped reading after finding that the author had used a better example of my hypothetical attractive female friend - he (I presume) uses the scenario of room and the friend walking in naked, which compared to my garb for the genitals is much more apt.

    Right - Situation 1 is no longer applicable - female friends before puberty has visited either of you - don't count. Why? Because I/we are talking about friends you make after you have your lead in the pencil, because imo it more likely at that time you will choose to spend your time making friends, if you have to, with females who you would generally think 'look kool'.

    Actually I'd hit puberty with situation one girl. This is answered in situation two and three, although nudity doesn't bother me so I wouldn't be uncomfortable unless situation three after it's become platonic they tried it on.

    Question: WTF is with this classification of the sexes being "opposite"? I've never noticed anything that would indicate total opposites. There are some differences, but also a lot of similarities, and in general the term "complementary" seems more accurate than "opposite", regardless of which sex you happen to belong to and which you are referring to.

    Yes, the language he uses is foul.     I'd put a lot of the problems females and males (alike) face with regards to forming friendships down to post-christian sexuality. I can't conceivably devise an intellectual manner in which to naturalise the idea of sexuality.

    Then again, friendships are very constipated today. In Europe from my experiences certainly.

    All of your male friends? Lo maybe their is something about you, rather than them. Why have them as friends? what help/aid/enjoyment they give you? How do you deal with it when the subject is broached or is the topic of sex in general strictly of limits - one way of handling it. Or you are  just a nice girl who can't be cruel. Scrub all of this if you are university.

    I've already went into this. No I'm not asexual, I'm straight, I have a sex drive, and I enjoy sex. I'm just not a walking hard-on. Saying I'm one end of the spectrum, I know plenty of bisexual or heterosexual people who have best friends of the opposite sex and it's purely platonic. I've already said this but let me try again.

    I'm in my mid 20s. Let's say you're a woman of a similar age, 20-27. I'm attracted to you, we get talking, we get on but you don't find me attractive. That's fine, it doesn't bother me. If we get on we can be friends, maybe we'll even become close friends, and if I know for a fact you don't fancy me, fine. Presuming we do get on and after a while we have a good friendship, I'll lose my attraction for you. As you don't fancy me (and I know this) I won't think of you as a possible lover, and I'm secure enough in myself that I can accept you don't feel that way and it's never going to happen. We're just friends. And that's fine. I'll look elsewhere.

    fella, I have accepted that YOU can have friendships with women. I have to or else call you a liar. All these people you say loving having platonic relationships, they would say that, you ask them, if they also don't objectify? choose their friendship not based on some sort 'appeal?'

    It was general advice. Wish someone had told me when I was in my mid-twenties.

    But the jury on the question that can men and women be friends in exactly the same way that straight - fuck why do I have to write straight, 95plus% blokes are straight - men can be, is still out. You can't say men and women can be friends on you personal experience, you can be, but not the hoi polloi, don't fool them.

    I don't' say "all these people" I just said I know some people who are like that. I'm perfectly happy to state I know other people that flat out cannot have a friendship with the opposite sex to the point they wouldn't jump at the chance to hop into bed with them even if they don't expect it to happen. All I've really said is that if I do fancy them when we first meet but I know it's not going to happen I get over it.

    Sorry dude - you indeed have said this consistently and I have and I haven't addressed it. Wasn't on purpose, just the time of the month. So you do like them, ok, and when you know it is not going to happen you get over it? Cool, most rounded-off, level-headed men, know their pecking place and would do the same. But you do have muscle memory, the girl in question at some point must have antagonised it at some primal level, and you are presented with the scenario of her walking naked into your room wanting sex - but you would disappoint your friend, because now she is your friend the idea of sex with her repulses you. Liar lol.

    This would come back to what I said about mental/emotional association. You've never had a none sexual relationship with an attractive woman to the point you don't associate her with sex? It never becomes more akin to a brother/sister relationship or something similar?

    Saw a female friend, I said I was talking about this topic, she say You can , I say ahh but the scenario is you walk in naked wanting sex, She said -you would run away lol, also that that ain't happening. As to associating a female friend with sex, dude if you back on this thread, a long time ago, it was discussed that this was not a 24/7 thing, I said it was once or twice a year ting, especially when they are back on the market. But yes it does look different from being a quarter of a century old. Ya could easily sleep with a friend in the same bed, no probs, slept/enjoyed the come-down of a two day bender with two females friends, no probs, it would be a little different now.

    I wish I had had attractive friends, nah I had something wrong with me, they had to be drop-dead gorgeous, make two black dudes in Leicester Square drop their jaws cartoon style gorgeous. Like their is a difference between attractive and beautiful/gorgeous, beautiful/gorgeous are a different tribe, should have settled with the lovely and attractive. For instance say Charlize Theoron(?) is a beautiful woman but Emma Stone would be lovely and attractive. Attractive would have been good.

    Though only have myself to blame. Having perfection and dumping it.

    As to the sister/brother thing - fella I would sleep as an adult with a female but not my sister and if my sister walked into the room naked lol.

    I thought I was rid off this thread. Just a thought came to me. Like I smoke, I don't run out of cigarettes, ever, though I only smoke seven-ten a day. If any random girl asks for a cigarette, I give, if it is an random guy (used to) go do one. Life is easier for prettier girls.

    One time had this dude ask me for a cigarette because he spotted me smoking, I says to him, gonna buy some, I am smoking my last one, he says - can I go two's on it wtf?? he was a foreigner, but still, must have handed out/been asked a thousand times for cigarettes (everyone has had a taste of my brand)never has someone said let me go twos on it.

    I say to him, what you gonna follow me up the road, wait till I finished. He didn't say anything, my look meant that he did not follow.
