I don't like that we're supposed to pity Theon because he didn't actually kill Ned's sons. As if killing average boys is somehow not as bad an act.

You should probably put a spoiler warning some where in that post. Anyone that hasn't read the third book is just going to have the ending ruined.

'These Last Two Are Gonna Be Real Turds,' George R.R. Martin Assures Fans

    Quote
SANTA FE, NM—In the wake of last year's highly successful publication of the fifth installment in his A Song Of Ice And Fire series, author George R.R. Martin assured fans Tuesday the final two books in the fantasy saga would be "complete turds." "For starters, there'll be no mention of the dragons at all, because I'm pretty much sick of writing about dragons at this point," said Martin, who added he would also be introducing an entirely new storyline set on a completely different continent and featuring a cast of at least 50 new characters all vying for the same throne. "And I'm going to take even longer to write these last two, at least a decade each. Who knows if I'll even be alive to finish them? Who cares? My son knows how to spell most of the characters' names, so maybe I'll let him wrap the whole thing up." Martin said that while he didn't want to give too much away, he was certainly going to kill off Tyrion and never resurrect him, because "that fucking dwarf" was annoying the shit out of him.

I just saw this thread and haven't read all of it, but I recently watched the entire first season and I loved it. Can't wait for next season. Although I can't believe they killed off Sean Bean! He was one of the best parts of the show! I really hope they somehow bring him back next season.

Even before I saw it was the Onion I went "yeah right, GRRM doesn't have children!" and then I realized what a hopeless geek I am.

The part about "an entirely new storyline set on a completely different continent" reminds me another fantasy series, The Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steve Erikson.

Hey z10. I do understand your point, but
The way I see it, we aren't supposed to forgive him the murders just because they were a couple of random kids and not a lord's sons, but I personally can't hold a grudge for too long when a person goes through such horrifying shit. Same reason I can't hate Sandor for the murder of Mycah the butcher's boy, and Jaime for pushing Bran off the window. You have to move on. Plus if I were to invoke karma on Theon it wouldn't be for the murder of two faceless kids, but for Mikken the smith and Gage the cook, from Winterfell. Especially the latter, since his pinned on him the death of a guy he had killed himself.

I only read the first four so far. I have the following two lying around but kinda lost interest. The first three books are really great, but I hear the following volumes are of uneven quality. I will get back to them eventually, I'm sure. This series has the advantage of being already finished (as of last year, ten books in total).

Ah ok.  hmm I have quite a few series that I just lost heart in after awhile.  Started off soooo good but then got lost along the way.

The wheel of times series.....no more, I can read no more of that, its a story that should be over already.

The runelords.....loved the first 3 books, 4th was a bit meh, the rest even more so.

Katherine kerrs deverry series, again kill me, way too many books and not enough variety.

There are more, but my bookshelf is downstairs and I am lazy.

I'm starting to believe now that Clash of Kings is the best book of the series. Or at the very least on par with Storm of Swords.

Busy with A feast for Crows at Chapter 15

Dunno if this needs a spoiler alert, if so, Admins/Berbs please add as I do not know how to do it
[sub]Sad that this book has no POV's from Tyrion, Danaerys and Jon and the new characters like the Red Vipers' daughters, did not think they are necessary, however Mycella is there with the Dornish, guess there is goint to be lots more new charcters one encounters in the books to come. Then again the book only deals with Kings Landing and who knows where the Fuck Tyrion is <efg>[/sub]

Clash of Kings is the best thusfar, however the way Storm of Swords ended and the RW makes it a very close second IMHO

I do understand your frustration and I reacted the same way. However, you spoiled crybaby, you don't have to wait five years to know what happens to those characters, like I did

Just stick with it, though. It's a rewarding read. And I think the Dorne chapters were some of its highlights.
