Only started watching this show for the first time a few weeks ago. I've watched all of them now. Really liked it. All the talk of wars and raping captives really reminded me of the prophet and his followers.
Looking forward to the 3rd season, and I think I'll read the books too.

Glad the show is back but the premiere wasn't that intense but still a good way to start the season, I'm expecting more

    I know right?   dance

    HBO gives the epic shit.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending of the first episode.  I was actually saying "what, no no no, I wasn't ready for the show to finish yet" as the credits rolled in.

I wanted more, but iz good, I can wait, only a week and I will be skipping to my TV to watch it again.

    Can I whine?

    Both show and book spoilers:
    - What the fuck is the deal with Qyburn? What the hell was that? No Bloody Mummers, then?
    - Also no Strong Belwas? FUCK YOU!
    - Cersei has thousands of spies, so do Tywin and Varys, and yet Littlefinger things it's totally cool to meet up with Sansa out in the open. LOL. And why introduce Ser Dontos last season if you're not going to use him at all?
    - Tormund Giantsbane was in his 50's, not 25. Also they completely ruined Jon Snow's meeting with Mance Rayder. When he was asked why he wanted to join the wildlings, the answer he gave in the book was so beautifully written it gave me goosebumps. Instead, we get some righteous bullshit about the Others. Fuck that.
    - Ygritte is either the worst character in the show, or the actress is completely retarded.
    - They are completely destroying Robb's tactical genius and turning it into some kind of background for a retarded love story with fuckface. I can't wait for the red wedding
    - FUCK ROS! WHY AREN'T WE RID OF THAT NUISANCE ALREADY???

And Stannis, which was the coolest thing about last season, is very much less cool now. And it's not because of the plot.

    I am not impressed.

The best thing about the episode was the scene between Tyrion and Tywin, but that's most likely because the lifted most of the dialogue directly from the book.

I share your grief Naerys. However, I think it's only going to get worse, they are going to be streamlining the story a lot more (and in the case of Daenerys, I don't blame them).

Yeah、though nowhere near as bad as Viserys Targaryen getting crowned in the first series!

I liked how two different rapes were averted: one by violent means、the other by persuasion。

The episode before this one made me do double takes as even more celebrities joined the ranks of the cast: a character from Hollyoaks、one from Torchwood (I think!)、the little boy from Love Actually、actor/comedian Paul Kaye、someone from Misfits、and of course Diana Rigg (Emma Peel from The Avengers)!

Actually I really REALLY like seasons 2 and 3. Wasn't a big fan of season 1.... now watching season 2 with commentaries.

I decided to read the books after the show's over... seems like there are lots of things that are different between the books and the show and I was thinking it'd be better to just enjoy the show for now and pick up the books later.

How many of you have read the books or are reading it simultaneously while the show is on? How is it when you come across discrepancies between the 2?

The ending of the last two episodes were like: Waaaaaaat lol. Last episode's ending was predictable, but that one final move made was pretty damn badass.

I went away and read the books after the end of the first season. There are some differences but for the most part, I think the show is just trimming the fat from the books. This is not to say that the extra details and greater scope of the books are superfluous, but that it would be near impossible to introduce it all to the viewers of the show without causing mass confusion.
It's a testament to the success of the show in a way that even now with them introducing a bunch of important characters every season, the viewers are sticking with them.
