no, i don't even belive in psychic powers, why do you ask? (see? i don't even know why you asked the question, that proves i'm no psychic).

Uh huh. But you're not shy of telling me why I typed what I did, and even what note it was typed in. Witness:

I know that response was supposed to seem smart and sophiticated, but the answer is no. I'd love to be able to live forever in eternal peace of mind.

i am no mind-reader but you are right, i am annoyed by smug people.

I ask someone whom I was told to be a rare creature - a Muslim of true apologetic prowess - what joy accrues from an infinite state of never changing, never dying, and singing Allah's praises, and he responds with the sort of rhetorical flourish one might associate with Yeezeevee. Disappointing.

As you appear to be adept at making such judgements, your post (with its corollary below) inspires but one question in kind.

that's why I added: "Or morality simply doesn't apply to God".

I know, I cited that verse for context.

like i said, if you want Tafseer, then there are a million opinions... Ibn Hazm (in Tafseer Ibn Kathir) shares my opinion.

LOL! You made me chuckle! So you loathe yeezevee too?

anyway, I was only gauging your personality from the very little you wrote, but so far the more you write the more I become certain about my initial guesses.

not very often. Mom never beaten me, Dad simply didn't want to have anything to do with children. My two elder brothers did beat me and my twin brother but only occasionally and I can't remember except 2 to 3 incidents.

not that i care what Tafseer says but here you go:

Hell was prepared by Allah (3:131, 4:18, etc).
He cared enough to make that torture chamber for disbelievers. If he was apathetic, he wouldn't care to prepare anything for them, even if it takes no effort.

Fine. Some scholars give credence to the view that Hell is the default state in the afterlife. But I still see no support for the view that that indicates apathy.

    Also:

    Also:

Nice to see Muslims had a sense of humor Tongue

I still don't think that religious cruelty is caused by concepts related to *the after life*. And when it comes to Christianity, specifically, threats of Hell are rare and quite vague. Religious leaders did take advantage of Hell and sometimes even justified their most heinous crimes in the name of saving souls from Hell, but I still think Hell was not the drive of this cruelty but rather a lame excuse for someone who was intent on being cruel, anyway.

Come on debunker, there is a centrality there regarding the iron fist aspect of Islam, and the atmospherics that accrue from there that cannot be denied. Pre-enlightenment (and even in some parts today) Christianity was the same.

Well, the Qur'an says that 'Allah is the creator of every thing' in Q. 13:16, and so therefore, he's also the creator of the state that humans find themselves in after death. Clearly, if he created Hell as the default state, he must have cared enough to make it so, but that doesn't seem like something a god would do completely randomly.

This is what I have found with strongly religious people in general — they seem to know god’s mind, until you push them to some logical brink they cannot back away from, at which point they tell us: “It is not for us to question god’s intentions or actions”, or words to that effect.

Your god does not like me - but why should you debunker?

Are you more compassionate than than your god?

A god you say you love and yet he is indifferent to the suffering he inflicts on the people of hell. A place he created for this purpose.

I too was begining to like your arguments until you started talking about gods indifference - his torturing is good, his lies are good, his hatred is good. If he commands you to rape, murder steal etc that will be good because he as you say is beyond good and evil. Such a talk makes god a monster. A divine despot who terrorizes his subject. He is no different from earthly tyrants. And sooner these tyrants - divine or otherwise are dethroned the better for us all.

Why do you feel that you are mocked. You speak so eloquently about this god - his needs and indifference you know it so well -it sounded it was god himself was talking. Who would know his torturing will be seen as good except the divine tyrant himself?

    you said:

Whoever God hates/loves is irrelevant.... so long as you're not persecuting Muslims for their religion, I can like you and befriend you too... God even says so in His book.

    No.

problem is we humans have great regard for each other, but to God we are less than specks of dust. It is puzzling that He cares for some of us... probably that's what is meant by His mercy? He's merciful enough to save some infinitely insignificant creation of His?

oh come on... I never said anything about lies or hatred (i don't belive God *literally* hates anyone.... we're way beneath His hatred).
As to torturing me being a good act of God, I already explained to harakat that I meant morality does not apply to God.

yes.... in fact, when someone acts as though morality does not apply to them, that's self-deification.

So when someone says that God makes it OK for you to rape, steal, etc, then those can't be the words of God.

Again, not even Hitler, or the worst human, can go so low as to inflict eternal torture on other men. So you see, it's nothing for dude to brag about really, for not even Mao can allow himself to do it.

So how is it justified for god to do such a thing?

ok, keep pretending that you have to become poor in order to be able to help others OR go ahead, sell you luxury items and give the money to those in pain.

Your missing the overall point, which is that even if I didn't lift a finger to help I'd still be morally superior to the one that willingly caused the suffering in the first place. I can claim that moral superiority unhypocritically, because I don't torture, I don't cause famines, etc.

    how fuck works without shit??

yes.... in fact, when someone acts as though morality does not apply to them, that's self-deification.

So when someone says that God makes it OK for you to rape, steal, etc, then those can't be the words of God.

    ... what?

You just said, in the same breath, "yes" (morality doesn't apply to god), "those [immoral commands] cannot be the words of God".

Hilter is a human, so no matter how evil he is, torturing *other humans*, for all eternity, would still be a very significant issue. I don't think even Hitler could do it.

first of all, that's not how the conversation between me and your friend started. He was saying he wouldn't be able to enjoy heaven knowing that others are suffering Hell.... as opposed to me, for example. Now, to address your point (again), even Hitler wouldn't torture someone forever.

Besides, I'm sure an ant, for example, would think of herself morally superior to you, if you so choose to eradicate an ant colony (but the comparison, of course, would be pointless, because you're no ant).

they cannot be the words of God because God won't deify us. Such words can only be written by self-deifying humans.

Except ants don't feel pain because they have no nociceptors. And killing them is not like torturing them forever.

when the words of God basically boil down to telling me that I am above morality, then He is *deifying* me.
