     OP - September 05, 2011, 08:40 PM

    Howdie,

I'll be going to this seminar in London next week on Friday (the day before the Secular Europe protest march in London). Let me know on here or by PM if you intend to come along and I might be able to make space for you to stay the night in London if needed.

:O I want to go to that.... I'm planning to go to London this thursday & friday (on business tho lol)

I don't think I will have moved out by then.

When I move out I can become more active in attending seminars such as these! Smiley

A professional hand holding service shall be provided Wink. PM me closer to the time and we can sort out meeting up beforehand. No idea how many tickets they've shifted so far, but if you're keen on going it'll be better to get one sooner rather than later.

It was great to see such a packed out hall for this event. I was worried before hand that this might not attract too many people, but I was shown up to be the pessimistic party pooper I am by the absence of empty seats. The debate was interesting, although the choice of some of the panellists was a little bizarre to say the least. Maybe someone else who went would like to write a review? I suspect Maryam will be writing a blog post soon.

Thanks to Pariah, Loki, Shahid Raza, Serrated Colon, Adam and Umrish (and of course to Maryam and Fariborz) for coming along. The evening was topped off with a few drinks and Pariah's (failed) attempts to use her Bengali skills to negotiate free papadums in a nearby restaurant. Shahid's use of Urdu, on the other hand, did seem to get him to the front of the food queue - clearly he's better at fluttering his eye lashes to get what he wants.

Maryam did mention she will be writing in her blog about the seminar, keep an eye out for that.  I agree the panellists were a bit random, however it did make a good debate and interesting.  It was clear which side the audience was on anyway.

Lol Chris, I think you are jealous that I secured some lovely Bengali biryani with my talented linguistic skills!  Who cares about the popadoms, they're hardly bengali.  Tongue
