It is interesting yeah. Given the subject of the show, and the fact that this is Showtime, I expected a much bigger ratio of naked people going at it per episode, but it's actually more engaging than that and the actors are fantastic.

    Haven't finished it yet.

Was talking about it with my SO today, and I told him that no matter how good the show True Detectives can be, there's no way I would watch anything with McConaughey in it. But do let us know!

The actor who plays Joffery does a wonderful job at being a shit. He's so good, that if I were to see him on the street, I might want to strangle him to death.

Watch it. I'm fucking loving it so far. It might just be initial over excitement, but I really wanna say it's up there with Breaking Bad. The writing is pitch perfect. The acting is phenomenal. The characters are complex and fully-fleshed. The story is intriguing. The direction is movie standard. It just depends if the slow and deliberate pace of a murder mystery is your kind of thing.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

The final action scene of episode 4 of True Detective was fucking spectacular. A continuous (or seamlessly transitioned) 6 minute shot that would make Alfonso Cuaron proud. It's almost unfair to say it's movie quality direction by Cary Fukunaga. I'd rather say movie directors should take note.

I keep meaning to watch that, but keep missing it.  Does look interesting though.

Is anybody following Eastenders at the moment?  I'm not really into it but they seem to be tackling the thorny issue of muslim radicalisation with that girl who's just returned from Pakistan.

Sadly, I have (shh, don't tell anyone), and I only hope they keep up the momentum, and see it through to the bitter end.

Yep that one scene got me hooked whilst I was channel hoping. So I went back and watched it from the beginning. The first 2 episodes were rather slow and tedious. But once it gets going I just wanted more and more. Can't wait to get home to watch the recording of the latest episode from last night.

I love it when it's slow too. The script and pacing is flawless. The interplay between Rust and Cohle is really resonating with me. I'm sure they are mouthpieces for much of the writer's own insights and philosophy. And Rust is one of the few unashamedly atheist characters I've seen in recent fiction, which makes him even more sympathetic and relatable to.

Just started getting into CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. It's one of those shows that I've heard people go on about and was always on my 'to watch' list, but for some reason never got around to it. Loving it so far.

I really like Dr Grissom. He's like the ideal scientist. All about the evidence, letting it speak for itself and following where it goes rather than using it to confirm a conclusion.

It's pretty good for a while, but eventually gets a bit repetitive. They do stretch for bonkers plot lines sometimes, and some of the dialogue and "science" is a bit dodgey.

Whatever you do, avoid the Miami spin-off like the plague. That is by far the most tragic of the three. The NY one is ok.

Y'know, I think that might be one of the reasons why I didn't pick it up before now. I might have seen one of the spin off ones and not thought much of it. But I normally love crime dramas. Most of my fave TV shows are crime-based. And I'm glad I gave the first season a try because it's right up my street.
