I use the same strategy with people trying to argue for the existance of God, whatever way they choose.

I say, ok, God exists, "Thanks God!"

Then look at their faces, as they know they can't even begin to argue for THEIR God. "So..yeah...Jesus is the right one."

Suddenly their disguise of trying to appear rational just crumbles, and it's beautiful. bunny

    Before Jesus was, I AM.

Interesting. I found no beauty in seeing just this happening in your case on this thread.

Your complete failure to convince anyone, your lack of evidence. Your avatar. Your sources. YOU.

    Lack of evidence for what?

    Your sources.

Which sources do you find contentious?

But getting down to basics, a Muslim is someone who accepts the shahadah,

According to what source is "accepting" [uttering] the shahada sufficient to classify someone as a "Muslim".

    Quote
the failures thereafter are sins but still Muslims.

    According to what source?

Istanbul, is a red herring when it comes to Turkey?

No when it comes to Anatolia. Constantinople is in Europe. I am talking about the Turkish conquest of Anatolia. You brought up Constantinople to confuse the issue. The issue being, I remind you, the appropriateness or lack thereof of the use of the designation "native" when referring to present day Europeans and your half-baked "arguments" relating to it.

Alas posthuman is not here to answer for himself but to use one of his favourite sources wikipedia it seems

A single honest recitation of the Shahadah in Arabic is all that is required for a person to become a Muslim

I am my own worst enemy and best friend, itsa bit of a squeeze in a three-quarter bed, tho. Unhinged!? If I was a dog I would be having kittens, that is unhinged. Footloose n fancy free, forced to fit, fated to fly. One or 2 words, 3 and 3/thirds, looking comely but lonely, till I made them homely.D

@^devilsadvocate. In other words the vast majority of Muslims accept the tradition of centuries. And if that is the case on this matter why should we believe - as many here would wish - that this is not so in other rather less innocuous ones?

    DH

But some muslims would not accept that  'a single honest recitation of the Shahadah in Arabic is all that is required for a person to become a Muslim'.
