  • Hi, I am fredrich
     OP - November 25, 2011, 09:05 AM

    Hello everyone,

My name is Friedrich and I currently live in Germany. I am a Muslim and so are my parents and so were my grandparents  Smiley I am 24 years old now, and I am studying Masters in Computer Sciences.

I am not here to invite you (back) to Islam. I am only here to learn (despite of the discomfort that I intend to give you in debates  grin12 )

There was a time in my life when I was inclined towards atheism. Back then I joined the Arab atheists forum. I learned about evolution, philosophy, and plenty of stuff about Islam and other religions. I doubted the existence of god  Cry this time of my life was like hell to me. I was so busy thinking about this topic that my average dropped a full mark! But eventually I grew out of this phase. There was no particular reason for that. It just happened!

I tend to love Islam and I never saw in it what others say they did. I am not saying that you are lying, but I come from a society where Islam is just a faith nothing more. I hope that I could understand that phase of my life and get to see why some of you became atheists and how did you overcome the fear of Allah, society and the feeling of being bad* and became atheists despite what I believe is good evidence! And I hope my presence here would be welcomed  Smiley

and before you do it, have a parrot  parrot

    * it happened to me I don't know if you felt the same at first  Huh?

I know what you mean about being without god being awful as I had a similar experience.  One day I looked in the mirror and saw a middle-aged fat bald man.  I hated this brief exposure to reality so I decided to pretend reality was different and that I was a youthful athletic Graeco/Roman wrestler with a full head of hair.  Never been happier!

Welcome!  I look forward to discussing with you :-)

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

Welcome fredrich!  Believe it or not, we have muslims that are
regular posters here.  As well as christians, hindus, and of course
a wide array of those who are everything from deists to hardcore
atheists, and EVERYTHING in between lol.  A few trolls too! LMAO

I hope you enjoy your stay, here.  And don't get too offended with
some members who are still very sensitive and angry about Islam.

Everyone has their own ways of coping and getting through difficult
    journeys.

so no parrots from me... rather, I offer you a welcome jinn! LOL

    Welcome, Fredrich Smiley

I respect Muslims who simply say religion is a matter of faith and don't try to claim it is a matter of irrefutable or undeniable evidence - ergo if you disbelieve you are a nasty human being deserving of punishment.

I lost my faith when I started to face the reality of what it was I was supposed to believe. As ppl will tell you - Hell was one of the main things.

Frankly I still have difficulty getting completely over things like fear of Hell. After 48 years it doesn't just vanish overnight - but it does gradually get better.

Life is no bed of roses leaving Islam - but I am far more comfortable within myself.

I rarely get to have talk with a Muslim with out being told that I am evil and I am going to suffer:p

Would love to have a talk with you sometime. Though I don't particulary talk about religion , I am more interested in the existence of such deity.

    Also welcome mate Smiley

Welcome! Hope you find the discussions here enlightening and enjoyable. Religion and faith are personal beliefs and everyone is entitled to them. It's when people think everyone should be like them, is where the problems begin.  bunny

thank you. I hate it when people ask me whether I prayed today or not and i do pray. I can see how much would that annoy a person who doesn't believe in god in the first place  Wink

In this case I suppose it is valid to take offence when someone refutes your belief that you are young and athletic by telling you that you are short, fat, and bald Smiley

I think that the Arab revolution would lead to Islamist governments... eventually the people are going to revolt against these due to their inevitable failure and after that second revolution it might. so give it 100 more years.

And one more thing, if one billion Muslims decided to beat those who criticize their religion it doesn't make it Islams fault. It is Islams fault only when the text says that in a very clear way  thnkyu
