I can only eat minced meat (kofteh), and stuff like burgers, kebabs, shawarma, chicken nuggets, and very rarely tuna.

The link between mobile phone usage and cancer has been debunked, no?

I think even small amounts of bacon or salami can increase your chance of getting cancer and/or heart diseases,.I like to stay away from red meat generally - fish and poultry is a more nutritious and healthier option, tastier too.

I love fish but poultry is boring.  Being the cheapest meat means I've eaten way too much of it.

Anyway breathing can give you cancer, I think I'm good with my pork choices.

What I'm trying to say is pretty much everything can cause cancer, some more than others and I highly doubt a small amount of red meat will increase cancer to the point of steering away from it completely.

Well I think it's been established that there is a higher likely chance that you'll develop cancer if you eat red meat or have an unhealthy lifestyle than using a 'mobile phone' or 'breathing.' Granted you can never forecast, until techniques develop to provide a personalised Genome sequencing to accurately display predisposed diseases that we're likely to encounter in our lives, who'll get cancer even if you follow the 'guidelines' to the letter.

    Oh ffs seriously?

If I eat any red meat I might die of cancer?  seriously?

No such thing as healthy moderation?  is that also a myth?

You've gone from 'eating a slice of salami will kill you of cancer, nooeees' to 'red meat is deadly lol'. the study showed that 'extra' portions of red meat increase risk of mortality and cancer by a percentage, but this was above a moderate consumption, I would say don't eat it more than 3 times a week, I eat it twice a week-but eating a tiny bit of red meat isn't going to kill you.

There is a lot of poor quality meat and meat products, pork included, on the supermarket shelves. Far better to eat just a little bit of the best quality meat you can afford.
I spent many years not eating pork simply because it was not readily available or easy for me to cook it at home. Now I eat it when and if I want to. Bits of bacon, lardons and pancetta are great for flavouring other dishes; some dishes you just can't cook without a little pork  Wink

Besides, they found a vaccine for cancer today, so let's stuff our faces full of pork, pork, pork!

Even having red meat everyday isn't going to kill you, it just increases the likelihood. I never implied it would, forgive me if I did. I just believe, my opinion and my lifestyle choice, that I should avoid it- perhaps have it once in a full moon, quite literally sometimes; on Eid.

Just been on hols and had a superb pork and beef mince burger with wondrous herbs.  And on ham, ordinary mass produced ham is awful, but an excellent Italian ham is a food of the gods - actually maybe that is the reason for the ban - so uncle mo gets it all.

Not of a fan of pork but have the odd ham & pickle sandwich & bacon breakfast when there's no muzzies around. It tastes nice but like anything- too much is bad.

Well after you leave Islam, you'd no longer have a reason to not eat pork... that is, unless the thought of eating pork puts you off, which is likely if you've been brainwashed to avoid it all your life. I'd know, it took me quite some time to even try it. But it's no big deal to me, I'd rather take beef or lamb any day.

I was brought up with the expression "you will eat a peck of dirt before you die."

First do people know how large a peck is, and secondly are there similar expressions in other countries?

Grin  I know right?  I mean I still love it, but it's not haram anymore.  That sort of brings it down for me.

This is why I want to eat humans.  Everyone pretty much sees that as haram, even non muslims.   Cheesy

I had this discussion with a friend of mine. I said the argument that pigs are dirty and therefore should not be eaten doesn't make that much sense because one could get sick from eating any kind of meat. It's not what the animal eats, it's how you cook the meat. I for one have never eaten bad pork, but I got food poisoning from eating bad beef before. So should I just not eat beef anymore?

    =p

I ate bacon a month or two back out of curiosity. I fell in love.

Reminds me of my favorite quote

Homer: Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. Lisa, honey, are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
     Lisa: No
     Homer: Ham?
    Lisa: No.
     Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: [Chuckles] Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

Cheesy I miss the classic Simpsons.

I ate pork for the first time last month. It was at Mcdonalds i ate McBistro with bacon. I took out the bacon strip and ate it seperately.

Didn't taste as good as bacon is hyped up to be...

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living
