    - Why dont you believe in Islam anymore? *Listens to your arguments* I can't help but laugh at your stupidity. Everything that you've said is not a part of Islam.

    - What anti-Islamic websites have you been reading? (Popular rhetoric used when you educate Muslims about sex slavery in Islam)

    - You're misinterpreting those ayahs and ahadith and taking things out of context, go and see a scholar to help you understand Islam because I'm no scholar. (How the fuck can you misinterpret a 50 year old Mo raping a 9 year old Aisha??)

    - Nauzubillah! How can you even consider saying you don't believe in Islam? Uttering such jokes is a huge sin akhi!

    - The Shaitaan is tying knots on your head. (One of my mums most popular statements)

^ encountering such reactions online only reaffirms that, the way to handle questions about your disbelief is to place the burden of proof directly on them.

By this I mean, When they ask you why you left do not answer as they will give you the excuses you listed. Instead ask them directly to lay out their belief and offer up objections that way. This is a far easier method and they have less room to wiggle out.

For instance, First question to ask is why they believe Islam is true. When they go through it ask for evidence and reason. You will notice that you can catch them out very very early without even going in to detail about the absurd beliefs.

A good answer to the scholar excuse is ask them how they know the scholar is actually right. They have no way of verifying as it purely subjective opinion.

One of my close Muslim friends knows about my "doubts" against Islam but she thinks they're just doubts and I just have to get my faith back. I told her about my beliefs over a year ago and it wasn't really brought up again.

Right now I'm talking to her and I told her explicitly that I can't and don't believe anymore and she's basically saying "Believe me Islam is beautiful." and I told her how hard I tried to get my faith back because I wouldn't be in this mess. I told her it doesn't make sense to me and she said "You're not tying hard enough".

Why can't she just accept I have different views to her? It's not like we pray together and she will be so affected if I leave Islam..

    How annoying! wacko
I feel like my case is worse because if I mention any questionable hadith or anything, it will be shot down with "well that's what Sunnis believe, not us". I was surprised to read how many daughters Mo actually had because in Shiism, none beside Fatima are even recognised. Aysha is completely despised as a conspirator against Mo with Omar and Abu Bakr. Only Ali, Hussein and the Ahlul Bayt are recognised and spoken of.  The only wife that is respected is Khadija. It's a lose-lose situation =.= The only thing that causes a stir these days is Mut'ah. Shias happily walk around being proud of not being Sunni.

And this keyboard is going to hell soon. I need a new laptop. Excuse the errors, I don't know when the letters decide to show up or not, although I spell check at the end) Tongue

when you criticise the quran it's

"you need to go to islamic scholars to understand islam properly"

when you say this islamic scholar said this this(ie something that makes islam look bad) it's

"to properly understand Islam you should only look at the quran"

Was mut'ah a common occurrence? Was it an occurrence at all? Or was it more like the "you're allowed to have 4 wives" thing where it's permissible but nobody actually does it?

My Shia friends are all on mut'ah contracts. It's considered "engagement". It's totally normal and acceptable in that case because our culture doesn't allow an engaged couple to have intercourse. The reason why they do Mut'ah instead of Nikah is because Mut'ah doesn't allow a virgin girl to have intercourse, but they can "explore". Oral sex seems to be the thing with "engaged" (mut'ah) couples, but you can't go all the way. Under Nikah, they can, Islamically, so that's why the parents go for mut'ah.

My sis had a Nikah for her engagement. Culturally she was forbidden to have intercourse, but he knew that she could, Islamically.
She and the guy did it, and caused a HUGE problem between the families (nearly a forced break up, broke the trust between my dad and the guy and so on). lol and they were stupid enough to sneak into a room while we were all in the house, as if no one would notice them get up at night. It's just such a no-no.

The reason why it's controversial is because of what you probably already know, that you can rock up to a hotel with a guy and have a 1 hour contract. In fact in the hotel districts of Baghdad, if you are walking with a guy (regardless if it's your uncle, brother, whatever) you *will* get asked by more than one person if you "need a room". The person that asks is a "sheikh" that you pay to mut'ah marry you. In Iraq, everyone carries an ID card with their marital status, so they would know if you are married, divorced, whatever, and act accordingly.

BTW don't Sunnis do the 4 wives thing? It's completely mainstream with Shias. Even here in Aus, men legally divorce their first wife, but she stays in the house and they Islamically marry the other.
In Iraq, when they marry again, they just abandon the first woman. It's too common. The girl just goes back to her family, it's jut terrible. Also, men wont divorce them, so they can't even marry after him -good luck trying to get a sheikh to recognise your case.. Ugh it's so horrible mysmilie_977

You should go to jummah prayers, you'll change your mind.
You were born a Muslim, you will come back to it.
From parents - probably the harshest! - "I should have never given birth to you, you fucking son of a bitch", love how they insult themselves. Specifically in south Asian speaking families!

The 4 wives thing isn't very common at all. I've heard it's popular with rich old farts in the GCC countries but that's about it. There's one man who has two wives, two families, the whole shebang but he's only legally married to the first one and simply didn't marry the second one legally. He married the second while wife #1 was overseas and simply introduced the pair when she got back. Imagine that: "Welcome home honey! I married the maid while you were gone!".

What does happen sometimes is an already married man will go overseas and marry a younger woman secretly and basically have her as his halal mistress, while his wife remains in the dark about it all.

I know of at least three instances where this has happened (two were Somali, one was Lebanese so it goes beyond cultures), and if I paid more attention to the yentas (aka aunties) and their gossiping I'd probably have known of more but the way it was talked about made it seem like it was something that happened sometimes, not very often, but not unheard of either and the worst part of it is that it's technically halal so as pissed off as the women and their families were about it, its still not adultery, which AFAIC means that Muslim men can cheat on their wives and Allah is down with it but it doesn't work both ways, heck a Muslim woman can't even remarry if the fucker decides to move to Timbuktu with wife #2 if he hasn't bothered to divorce her Roll Eyes

That's the saddest shit ever man. It's worse than just cheating because you're starting a new family. A sad story: my friend moved to Australia from an Arab country in 2007. She was flipping through her dad's computer and saw pics of a baby with her dad (her dad already lived here). After questioning, she found out that her dad has a secret family here in Aus. Her mum divorced him and she doesn't talk to him anymore.

I'd be so worried with a Muslim guy,  coming home and finding a new wife there. If a guy ever wants to do this, Islam will accommodate it. It's not the same as an open relationship where the girl also gets something, all the power is with the guy. So pathetic..

Oh that type of crap just happened with two Muslim women that I know.  One of the husbands married a Costa Rican woman (who lives in C.R.) and then went back to the 1st wife and asked her for a legal divorce (not an Islamic one) just so he could bring wife #2 to the states.

The other womans story is so pathetically sad that I have a hard time even coming up with the words to explain it.  Basically this little boy at her kids school kept coming up to her kids saying "you are my sisters".  So she thought "this kid is autistic or crazy or something, but NOPE!  Turns out that her husband had married that kids mom too!  and that is why the boy was calling her girls his "family"

There are some couples who wish to take advantage of single parent benefits so what they'd do is get legally divorced but remain Islamically married; in response to this sort of thing, our local imam and several others say that if you're legally divorced you're also Islamically divorced. I'm not sure if that ruling stands if the woman seeks the legal divorce Thinking hard

So putting your body in the ground for it to decompose is somehow not caring for your body as much as to having it preserved for a lot longer if not indefinitely in preservation jars. They might end up helping someone with cancer survive better due to research or help somehow in physiotherapy by the study of your muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints possibly finding out something new to help better physio. "She is such a good person, she covered her hair"
"Try to attain heaven (save yourself) pray pray pray!"
"You don't want children? But this is how Allah made the world, you have to have children!"
"You are not alone, Allah is always with you...
you don't want to get married? You'll die alone."
"You've become sick? Just pray, Allah can help you"
"They lost their home? It's ok, in heaven Allah will give them riches"
"He lost his arm? It's ok, in heaven he'll have his full form"
"She can't have children? Let her keep praying"
"So she can't have children? The child would've probably ended up being a criminal later anyway. Allah knows best."
"That child died? He probably would've ended up being a criminal later. Allah knows best"
"You lost your job? Pray to Allah, he'll help you get a better one"
