Its times like this that I realise how much we miss Hitchens.
A debate between him and Mehdi Hasan would certainly have been interesting.
Yeah Hitchens would have never let him get away with saying
"The terrorists actions are caused by political grievances not religious motives"
If I was there I would have told Mehdi Hassan " With, Islam politics and religion are one and the same so yes they commit acts of terrorism because of their political grievousness of not having an Islamic caliphate which are a
direct result of their religious beliefs. IMO Dawkins shouldn't have let Mehdi off the hook for saying that.
I think it would be better for Dawkins to stick to the "Does God Exist Debate" He's better at those unless Philosophy comes up. Then he doesn't really respond well to Philosophical arguments either.
On second thought I think it's better for Dawkins to stick to educating people about science. That's what he really excels at. In fact I deconverted by watching his documentaries on Science not his documentaries on religion. Or if he attacks religion he should do it by talking about evolutionary origins of morality and the evolutionary origins of religion.
Hitchens excelled at debates on the social impact of religion(can't yet find anyone who matches his skill in that) but was bad at debates regarding the existence of God.
