Watched Oblivion. A really great 'thinking' movie'. Had to Google some stuff after to figure it out Smiley

As a sci fi flick it was pretty standard but it was absolutely gorgeous in terms of how it was shot.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Not quite on-topic. Going to the pictures v soon, anyone seen kick ass 2 or elysium. Any views in either? Imdb is not always believable. Iron Man 3, how did it rate so highly, and kick ass has users liking it loads more than the critics. Elysium wins on rotten tomatoes but rates lower on Imdb.

Probably means kick ass 2 is a good movie where you don't have to use your brain.

Blancanieves - a Spanish retelling of Snow White as a silent movie. Better than it sounds.

Well, I don't recommend Kick Ass2 unless you are big fan of the original. One fantastic scene featuring our starlet (she was looking way way younger than in her appearance in Hick) is a rip-off of Sucker Punch (not sure if both movies have same director) a few laugh out loud moments, some fantastic fight scenes, already forgotten some of the good lines. Oh yeah and violence, lots of it. The best movie scene so far of a man being run over. Would never have been rated fifteen in the old days, whereas older movies like total recall (original/predator/tango and cash?? are still 18 and Indian Movies of the 70's and 80's. Oh Mclovin -so-so.

Good thing the nachos and salsa were spot on and the Cola cold and fizzy. Need to watch Elysium very soon.

ETA - Just thought of the strapline to the movie.  The Big Bang Theory on yabba.

Went to see Elysium. Not a patch on District 9. Ordinary. Full of plotholes - the same as Lockout with Guy Pierce but at least that had humour in bags. Only thing saving this is the return of rocket ships against the background of a shanty town. (usually it is manhatten, the amount of times various movies have depicted the destruction of Manhatten - and they get pissed off when the Arabs do it once lipsrsealed) Our hero from District 9 returns in a new role with an even thicker South African accent and playing the baddie lead by Jodie Foster. Hadn't seen her for a long time, she looking well, check out her calf muscles, it is as if she entering body-building competition. Matt Damon gives... well he doesn't give a damn, just collecting his playcheck.

Though this has to be the funniest trailer for a long time, probably since Ted.

It is bad grandpa, Jackass produced movie but going into Borat/Bruno territory. If you only have a minute watch from 1 25, the grandpa disguises his 'grandson' as a girl entering a kids beauty pageant and they capture real reactions. It is funny.

Yes mate - Sorry to spoil the anticipation. I was told not too expect much and even with that view the movie slightly disappointed. I am not a harsh critic, like Matt Damon and loved District 9, save your money and watch something else, wait for this on DVD or TV.

I watched, sometimes begrudgingly, the third installment of the adventures of Richard.B.Riddick, eponymously entitled Riddick. If you are familiar with our anti-hero, then this movie was a virtual remake of Pitch Black, with none of the depth and originality. I would rather it went the way of  than Chronicles, but I don't think they had the money.

Made on a shoestring affected the CGI, making it look ten years out of date. The budget though cannot be used as a reason to excuse the poor dialogue, cardboard cut-out acting and the too neat ending.

I suspect it was a 15, because some of the gore is visceral and you do get a bit of tit n stuff. There is a friendship with a puppy turned dog, makes Riddick almost human. A few chuckles and two interesting mercs including Katie Sackoff, who is easy on the eye and hard as nails.

The movie is set on a planet that he needs to escape from as it is chocful of predators, who look like, a pair of jaws on two legs. Other movies also feature landscapes with fire-breathing or flying or huge creatures as predators.  You never see the herbivores?

Romeo+Juliet with Leo DiCaprio, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Midnight Cowboy, The Lost Boys. Seed of Chucky. Sid and Nancy. Not sure why I like that last one, I just do. Won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Not movies just seen, but those that to my knowledge not had a mention or much fuss about them - Limitless with Bradley Cooper - cool concept and original and it has Robert De Niro and Haywire with loads of star names and Gina Carano?, man does she look good, she looks like Sharleen Spiteri? of Texas fame who was the heart-throb for my lesbian friend back at uni. Seriously though the fight scenes make you wince, especially the first fight she has against Channing Tatum.

Is it because it's a fantastically executed biopic about a legendary punk icon played by one of the finest living actors?

Cleopatra, although I have watched this movie dozens of times I recently watched it again via Netflix. I always loved this movie with it's massive set pieces. It really highlights the golden age of cinema when movies were more about acting than CGI. Also check out Throne of Blood and the Seven Samurai, two classics from Akira Kurosawa.

Saw 15/20 mins of Django Unchained - and ten minutes in QT smashes it with an original scene. I have seen Django at the flicks, but not since and movies don't stay that long in the head, especially recent ones.

Anyways the original scene - Is Christopher Waltz - blowing the head of the horse off on purpose. usually they leave the horses alone.
