Noticed a couple comments about being beaten. The second blessing the teacher for it.

ouch, My teacher never touched females, he beat us a lot though, May Allah swt bless him.

`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Stockholm Syndrome. I used to be grateful to my dad for beating me because it made me a good, God-fearing Muslim.

I am reminded of that deaf, dumb and blind ayat. Too bad they don't see who's really deaf, dumb and blind. :(

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.

If they did, Allah would go the way of Ra.

Reading The Signal and the Noise by Nate Silver.

He argues that the explosion of information caused by the invention of the printing press led to several hundred years of religious wars, because we cannot cope with too much data and react by creating rules and theologies which we then argue with someone else about!

We are going through a bigger revolution now with the internet, and a core reaction to this is to assert pre-existing belief systems - like Islam -

What education hopefully does is enable someone to collate, curate and manage the huge amounts of data we meet all the time.

So Islam etc are not really tosh but are poor ways to understand life the universe and everything.

Poor because we know that today. So however valid it was seen to be 1450 years ago, it's tosh today.

So what about those who've studied deen, and "secular" knowledge, but still loose their iman?  Huh? Why would allah torment me, guide me to the straight path but then misguide me again? Hmmmmm.....

So Islam etc are not really tosh but are poor ways to understand life the universe and everything.

I was saying exactly this the other night to a couple of Japanese people who, for some reason, have embraced Christianity (and, equally strangely, chose to meet at an 'Irish pub' rather than a local izakaya).

Wait so the problem is that some atheist brainwashed the person into leaving islam as well as the accusation that the parents didn't care enough to thoroughly indoctrinate the child into islam Huh?

Seriously do these people even take a second to look at what they are writing/saying ?!?!
