    Debate organised by Muslim apologists yields surprising results

    On Tuesday 26th an Islamic conference organised by Muslim apologists Adam Deen and Myriam Francois Cerrah of the Deen Institute has surprised both experts and laymen alike by declaring that ‘there is no misogyny in Islam.’

    ‘When I went into the conference I wasn’t expecting the Muslims to be so honest’, says Ghulam Sarwar, a 19 year old medic student who attended the event, ‘I thought that I would observe the right wing polemic of islamophobes and diatribes that seek to defame anything and everything connected to Islam. However, to hear Muslim apologists debate on the issue of women’s place in Islam and conclude that no other faith holds women in as high a regard as Islam does is reassuring and refreshing to hear. I would never have expected that in a million years.’

    Religious apologia at its best. This woman has absolutely no idea exactly how much she is demeaning herself in her pursuit to defend Islam. And I don’t mean to say this rhetorically or ironically. She literally has no idea. It’s like when Christians boast about being the "flock" and Jesus being their "shepherd" or when Muslims gloat about being submissive slaves to Allah, and this is said with spirit and enthusiasm.  Huh?
    Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it.

    I had a "Progressive" tell me (she works in finance) that because this verse is about a specific part of financial law where you need a knowledgeable witness familiar with financial law (women do not qualify, because they are not working in finance-does anyone else see the irony, here?), that is the only place it applies. It applies to nothing else, and no longer is relevant, anyway, because times have changed (including finance, or law, or witnessing, apparently, which is greatly improved since this intricate detail of finance law involving futures and math formulas vastly beyond women's experience was laid out in the Quran-is there more irony, here?).

    I appreciated the point about hitting Aisha in the chest. I have been told that it does not count as a beating, because Aisha was so small, she was probably oversensitive, and everyone knows the Prophet never beat any of his wives.

    I hate this response, I remember asking a high profile dawah personality about concubines when I first became Muslim and "we live in Britain, and there's no such thing as slaves anymore so its not relevant" was the answer, BUT ISLAM SAYS ITS PERMISSIBLE!!!! If Islam was to take over the world as it says it will, would there be slaves again "that's not the case, so its irrelevant" SHUT UP!!!

    But to be fair on Miriam, she's quite "modern" with her views, I went to a ladies event thing not too long ago where she was speaking and encouraging women to be independent, and one of the other guests to take the stage said something along the lines of "That was a lovely speech but remember that Allah told us to obey our husbands khalas" lol then they had a little live disagreement.

    True, in that case what do you think of Maajid Nawaz lol, there must be a thread on here about the hype he's had recently. I guess the modernist are trying to do what the Christians have done, because at the core, it has very similar values to Islam, but Christians use modern knowledge and values to not look at Christianity as literal and as more of a spiritual avenue.

    Some people are weak and feeble minded. They feel the need to "modernize" something they already know deep down inside is a sham so that they can feel better about themselves. Realization that they've lived a lie is too much to take.

    Sorry for being in a judgmental period of my life, but this is how I feel right now. I hate all those "modernists" and "progressives", even more so than the Islamist and fundamentalists.

    Her modern values do not stem from Islam but her Western upbringing and education. That she converted and thus had a secular, liberal foundation is another reason for why she has relatively enlightened views. Had she been born and bred in the SAND LANDS however....

    I would pay these liberal apologists to DEBATE shaykhs and mullahs from Pakistan and Saudi. Why are you telling us that Muslim women are liberated? We don't need to hear it....THEY, over THERE, do!

    An Austrian woman who was raped in Dubai has been arrested for having extra martial sex and was told by police she could only avoid jail if she married her attacker.

    It appears as though that Muslims can not escape misogyny.

    Don't you think the title 'Can Muslims escape Misogyny' makes no sense?

    It's like 'Can Fat people escape obesity?'

    Or 'Can the British escape terrorism?'

    There's something wrong and 'in-denial' about the whole thing.
