I can't say I completely don't care, because I do wish that they would have seen the world in a different light and not have chosen this way of action but on the other hand, Muslim children are as their parents and I know that because I was one of them.
You can't make the argue that they are "so young" and so "innocent" because this indoctrination has been going on for a long time and you can't stop it. At they end of the day it was their choice and mine to mourn over.

Just like Johnny Flynn said, the breath I've taken and the one I must to go on.

Their fate will unfortunately lie in being raped, beaten, and living in fear with no way out, only to end by a airstrike bomb from one of the Western or its allied countries.

The question is how are these girls having contact with any ISIS members that they are so easily being brainwashed?

Some news report on bbc mentioned an online Jihadi matrimonial website.

    I kid you not.

Would love to see some of the photos.

There's apparently a booming business in Jihadi arranged marriages. The 'new radical Islam' has much more appeal to younger kids than the old one ever did, weirdly, despite, or maybe even because of, the SAW like atrocities. You takes your choice.

    Ha Ha.

This might sound cold but all these teens are joining ISIS so they can go and " kill the kuffar " .

I'd rather they go over there and get butchered by ISIS than stay here and carry out a terrorist attack.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

These are schoolgirls and young children are highly vulnerable. I pity them. I hope they return home safely.

When people blame Turkey for allowing IS supporters to travel to Syria, they should look at this story. Why were these girls allowed to board the plane? When this happens in Britain,Germany, France,Netherlands,Denmark,Sweden and Norway, why would a Turkish-Syrian border of 400 km make a difference?

Exactly. The 15 yr old defo shouldn't have been allowed on. Should always check for a letter to say both parents allow it.

Here in Denmark a 16 year old got his passport torn aport by his mother and she informed the police that he wanted to go to Syria and it was written in the passport register that he should not get a replacement passport.

Then he went to another municipality and he got a replacement.

He is now most likely fighting in Syria.

Luckily it was a scandal here but I feel so sorry for the mother. I have seen her despair a few times on Facebook among Danish Muslims.

No wonder Danish Muslims feel abandoned by the wider society.

I may be being so hard on them because, like I was kind of saying before, I really do think that if I were given the opportunity to at an earlier time in my life, I would have done the same thing as them. And if I had, I wouldn't think that being 17 would have made my decisions anyone's responsibility but my own. And god forbid if I brought a 15 year old along for the ride.  They're running to an join an organization that everyone and their mother knows just burned a man to death in a cage.

I know my sympathy shouldn't be finite, but this situation is so full of tragedies and just unimaginably terrible stories, and most are from the people who, far from running to the war because of whatever grandiose fantasies they wish to play out, were sucked up in it and lost everything, many of whom were these girls' ages or younger. And yes, they're young, and obviously deluded, but the same can be said about so many of the volunteers, and it's extremely hard to keep feeling sympathetic when you see these foreign fighters doing horrific things. I feel truly terrible for the family of these girls, and I do hope that they come out of this safely, and have the good fortune that I did to grow up a bit more and turn their lives around.

Objectively, I know you and asbie are right, but this is the same reason that Tzorzis makes me cringe. It's like looking in a mirror at the worst of myself, and it's hard to be fair about them. But I'm glad you are.

Turkey could start to actually close the border for Jihadis. They have the means. Stories of how the Turkish border guards turn a blind eye are legend.

And the EU could have told Turkey several years ago that they had to fix that shit or no more tourists for you.

I mean - they want to be the frontier of EU bordering Syria, Iraq and Iran? Or perhaps Erdogan and his cronies rather want a Neo-Ottoman empire...

Turkey should be dropped from NATO after European countries properly increase defense. Border of Greece strengthened, Schengen area ditched for the time being, proper border checks.

I would assume the older generation tend to be immigrants. They know how good they've got it here as they've seen the realities of the other side. The younger generation have no clue, just a romanticised notion that breeds easily with a lack of experience. Basically, the kids today have no clue just how good they've got it and how lucky they are to be born here. Their parents/grandparents do.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

If European countries know that jihadis are going to Syria, why not stop them at the airport? If they don't,how will Turks know? The legal status doesn't change once they're in Turkey, does it? Its difficult to control a border passed by millions. Otherwise the US would've been able to control the Afghan-Pakistan border. Its especially difficult when world media and journalists, refugees, aidworkers, tourists, drugdealers, business people, western field agents and intelligence services, volounteers for FSA and peshmerga, PKK and other kurdish militias are passing through. I wonder how many turkish nationalists believe AKP is allowing PKK to pass through.

Its much easier to stop them before they leave.

Now try to stop young people going on holiday there.

I took my kids to see a movie in the theatre today. For the first time. I kept pinching myself and thinking about how I never would have been able to do this a few years ago. I was ridiculously happy to see and hear my kids laughing in public at the screen.  I am sure women cannot go to dark theatres in many countries. I am super lucky, and I remember every day how much.

Since it would seem that it's easier to stop individuals from traveling, rather than stopping all travelers and flights thereby choking world trade that goes through Turkey, I would suggest the former.

Also even if the Turks successfully did what the US was unable to do in Afghan/Pakistan border, there are other travel routes used by saudis, jordanians, central asians and other non european citizens.
