Talking of proof, I was reading the verse in the Qur'an the other day that narrates when Abraham asked to see proof of God and so God told him to chop up a bird and place them on mountains and then order them to come alive, by Gods will.

Yet we today have to just believe without being given any such direct miraculous evidence?

And get etetnally tortured if we don't.

    Come on!

What you guys are talking about??

I get clear signs everyday .. i get direct miraculous evidence every morning.. It becomes worse with acid food or with that Chinese MSG spiced food..

    Mock them and move on....

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim

The invasion of Yemen, Rome and Persia reference put no date as per your link. Thus I have no requirement to say in how many years. To request otherwise is to hold a double-standard.

"[Remember] when they came at you from above you and from below you, and when eyes shifted [in fear], and hearts reached the throats and you assumed about God [various] assumptions.  There, the believers were tested and shaken with a severe shaking.  And [remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease said, ‘God and His Messenger did not promise us except delusion.’" (Quran 33:10-12)"

A lot of people think Christopher Hitchens predicted the islamic state (ISIS/ISIL) a decade ago. Does this mean he's a prophet?

there types of videos are the ones that get me! I don't know how to describe but islam is obviously a complete way of life. As ex muslims what do you make of a video like that?

ps this is the guy that's asking to meet me, I'm assuming to be the one to convert me! my head right now is firmly up my arse!

You're quite right that islam is a complete way of life, as are other ways of life. As for the video, I see a fool sprouting emotionally charged bollocks. I'm still curious about my earlier question.

Go look at Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Judaism, and Christianity. All are heavily invested in some form of rituals which form a way of life. All have virtues to follow, creeds to maintain, ways to act and live by. Islam offers nothing these other religions do not.

The fact you don't reply to what people post and that you've given no response to anything in the links provided makes me think you're a troll.

Yawn. Typical tribalism displayed by DW. Tribalism is the open display that a religion is exclusive not inclusive thus not worthy of praise nor respect. Or at the least his understanding of his religion. One does not need Islam to display tribalism.

I do believe in a creator yes and out of the religions the only one that makes any sense is Islam...and ill be honest the threats of hellfire and judgement day do scare and I can see what would make many people convert.

I'm from a completely Scottish background, no muslims in my family or circle of friends. I just simply looked into islam and was more and more drawn to it.

I can't believe I completely missed this thread. This is the exact same reason I joined the forum. I was agnostic and going through a period of anxiety and some parts of Islam made sense to me. Some Muslim apologetics seemed quite convincing and the fear of Hell made think "what if this is true". Here's the thread I posted for a more in-depth intro  - http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=27549.msg790880#msg790880.

Islam basically states if you believe there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger and you do good works in this life, you will go to heaven. This seems like an extremely good offer. Therefore, it seems your fears about Hell and Islam being true are not really because it would cause you to change your life, because anyone would be willing to change there life in order to get such a good reward. Your actually worried you might change your life for Islam and that it might not actually be true, thereby wasting your only life on a false religion. (it's hard to put into words, but this is what my fears were about). Therefore, the best advice I can give you is try to be as neutral as possible when studying the evidence and be willing to go wherever that evidence takes you. If that's Islam, great. If it's Atheism, great. This will give you peace of mind with your investigations and the conclusion you come to.

https://www.youtube.com/user/MattMcCormick1781/videos - This is the absolute best resource I can give you. It's an online Philosophy of Religion course offered by California State University. It discusses all the arguments for and against the existence of God. The professor Matt McCormick is great and he knows more about religion than Hamza Tzortzis, Dawahman and the rest of internet apologists combined. Don't make any quick emotional decisions as this is one of the biggest decisions of your life and it should take a year at minimum.

After studying the issues for myself I've come to believe all the claimed scientific, historical and linguistic miracles in the Qur'an are complete BS. I also have many problems with the deeper theological beliefs of the Abrahamic religions which are too long to get into here. But my decision is irrelevant, study the matter for yourself and come to your own conclusions. All the best and good luck on your journey  Smiley

Just want to give a reminder to you. Islam is just a one way conversion street. It never take deconversion lightly. It is easy to get in but not to get out without big consequences. As you may have known the penalty for an apostate is death. Though not all Muslim all hold the same  view, in Islamic sources that penalty is there.

I could not recall which youtube video show the quran source and the hadith for that.
