    So I need to reactivate an account on a site I hate and was bullied into joining to interact with a person I enjoy interacting with when the place I already interact with him suits just fine?

    Sigh. Be so much easier if I actually liked facebook.

    I'm not going to post my facebook but you can message me if you guys want to be friends (we're already friends, Hassan!) My estranged husband is on one of his pissy fits where he hates everyone and I told him idgaf and so he's all "I'm blocking you! No I'm srs! I'm blocking you! Pay attention to me, I'm angry!" waiting for me to come grovelling back but I've developed some self esteem, so fuck that shit. Zero fucks are being given by me, if he decides to be friends it's going to be on my terms, not his, and one of those terms will be to accept that I can believe whatever I want. It's been a year since he moved out, he's not paying my bills, fuck him.  dance

    So anyway the point of that rant was that he had been isolating me and intimidating me over the past few years and now I feel like I can add friends because he's not the boss of me, and if he wants to be friends, he needs to be friends on my terms.

    ^^lol they are very beautiful..  they havent got time for boyfriends they are studying hard.  It's so difficult when they leave home for university, it took me a whole year to get over my first daughter going last year and another leaves for london uni this september : (   funny thing is i still feel like a kid myself, lol i havent grown up yet, more like a big sis than a mom.

    It's just that Facebook is a place where I can interact with my family and friends and many other Muslims I know without the meaningless polemic but on the basis of the fact they know me and know who I am.

    I'm done with anonymity - it is not helpful imho

    Of course this site is very important and provides an essential safe refuge for ex-Muslims, but it has pretty much served that function for me and I shall be forever grateful to the place and the wonderful ppl here.

    Having said that I will still be here to socialise with you guys Smiley

    Actually most of my wider family are now very comfortable with my position regarding Islam and I see in fact that some are extremely sympathetic to the view that the Qur'an is not infallible!!

    I’ll miss you here, Shaikh. I’ve never been a huge fan of facebook, but I have an account that I occasionally log into to lurk on old friends and acquaintances. I’ll be doing the same to you now. Grin

    On anonymity, it has its pluses and minuses, I suppose, but I understand what you mean. It has dawned on me recently that many of us have shared so much of our lives and souls here with people whose first names we often scarcely even know. Does that allow you to share more? Share less? Share things you would not have shared otherwise? Share them differently? Allah ‘alam.

    You can also follow someone on facebook without adding them as a friend,  not sure what the difference is really..   I don't mind adding mine lol,  i will keep my profile private though, i have a fake name there anyway, after getting caught out by fellow muslim friends drinking a pint in a pub lol, photo went viral :/

    I don't really care anymore what anyone thinks, been out of Islam too long anyway..   I cannot face my old male muslim friends though without wearing hijab, i still put one on if they pay me a surprise visit lol  :/

    Good! It took me a few years to get over that isolation and intimidation bit, it can be daunting.
