As for the rape thing, to the ummah people, I guess what matters is that this is allah's will, part of his perfect system, and their religion is important to them, so will justify it. Some of the comments on this thread about the story of Saffiyah are interesting in that regard.

The story of Safiyyah is one that I always avoided because it was already making me uncomfortable on the surface. I guess now would be the time to do my research.

As well as the Saffiyah thread, have you seen this one? From your posts on the topic of hell I'd recommend having a look if you haven't already.

Not a deist or a pantheist?

What's the difference? I don't really know what a Pantheist is but always thought it was similar to being Agnostic.

I really did have to force myself at times. Still, I suppose it's like happymurtad and Hassan said. Eye of the beholder.

I have a christian Iraqi friend who speaks Arabic and thinks the Quran is really overrated and certainly not a miracle lol.

What's the difference? I don't really know what a Pantheist is but always thought it was similar to being Agnostic.

Theist describes belief in a theistic type god. A personal god, one that can be communicated with, listens to prays, answers prayers, basically the kind of god islam teaches. Theistic gods are the gods of religion, gods that take a personal interest in us and interfere personally with the world. Allah, Zeus, Odin, Osiris, Krishna etc are examples of theistic gods.

Agnostic is the idea that one cannot know either way if there is a god or not.

Pantheists don't believe in a distinct personal god, but rather that the universe/nature is identical with divinity. Basically the universe is god.

Deist describes an idea of god that is the source of everything but that doesn't interfere with it's creation. Most deists believe that the universe was set in motion via the big bang by an unknowable creator, but there's no reason to think this creator cares about us one way or the other. Many deists think this creator is indifferent.

Atheist describes people who simply lack a believe in a god or gods. I would describe myself as an atheist, but I'm an atheist in the literal sense of the word. I don't think theistic gods exist, though I'm open to other types. I suppose you could call me an atheist and an agnostic deist. While I believe I have good reasons for viewing theistic gods as fiction, I can't really say for sure one way or the other whether or not a deistic god or gods exist. I'm open to the idea, just not convinced. There isn't actually a word for an adeist, only an atheist.

Anti-theists are opposed to religion and gods in general, not just theistic gods but often deistic as well. Basically, they think religion is a bad thing, something harmful to society.

Ummah.com and came across some Da'esh supporters (and those who claim not to support Da'esh but keep defending them) and they kept insisting that the rape of slave girls was permissible if they were "kuffar", but they refused to call it rape.

Disgusting. These are the people that should be banned.

I know Sajid who is one of the moderators of ummah.com (at least he used to be) - he's a decent guy and I'm very disappointed such people are not banned on the spot!!

One of the mods appears to be pro-Da'esh because he/she deleted that thread. That was what tipped me closer to the edge.

I bet that's Abu Mubarak - a little Hitler - thank God he is only in charge of an online forum and not real people in the real world.

That guy has done more to turn people away from Islam than any Islamophobic hate-monger!!

I'll not be surprised if Abu Mubarak is one of those who has no problem raping women and children, he barely seems to regard non muslims as human.

Like I said before, whether you leave islam or not is up to you. Don't let anyone pressure you either way. Muslim, ex-muslim, either is fine. To me, being a good person is far more important than whether or not you believe in a god.

I remember when he opened a thread with a poll for non-Muslims to see if Ummah.com has worsened or improved their perceptions of Islam and the poll heavily weighted in favor of worsened their opinions.  Cheesy

I bet if one was to take a poll of all the Muslims - never mind non-Muslims - that have come & gone on ummah.com over the years it would also be in favour of worsening their opinions of Islam.

I'm quite sure Pam Geller, Robert Spencer, Geert Wilders and such like just love Abu Mubarak!! He's the proof they can point to when they caricature Muslims as rabid terrorist supporting fanatics.

For people who consider themselves to be brothers and sisters in religion they sure don't show it with their behavior.

The thread was about Baghdadi raping Kayla Mueller and I suppose that it was Abu Mubarak who deleted it. Certain members were claiming that four witnesses were needed before we could accuse Baghdadi, even though Da'esh have openly admitted to raping women they capture.

I was absolutely sickened when I read his replies. He also seemingly fantasises about having slave women when the Muslims rise up and defeat the enemies of Islam.

Yup, I did wonder if the guy was just trolling. He knew I was having doubts and seemed to be trying very hard to make them worse. Whatever I decide to do I want it to be on my own terms.

Absolutely right! And it's not like you have a deadline to make a decision by.

I'm 56 years old and I can tell you I thought I knew it all when I was in my 20s but life has taken me up and down and round and round and now I can only say that few things are black and white. The more I learn the less I feel I know lol.

Just follow your heart, mind and conscience - be honest to yourself and those around you - & whatever path you choose be prepared for lots of bumps and surprises lol  Afro
