     OP - June 03, 2017, 11:17 PM

Ohhhh boy it's been a long time since I've been on here so I thought I'd make another intro for the newbies and not so newbies who don't know me. My name is wiselyskeptical, I've been on here since 2013 which sounds so so weird to say. I joined as youngin discovering and questioning my faith and I've been a happyish atheist since August 2013. I'm from the US, originally Iraq, and I'm an 18 year old premed student. Happy to be here again Smiley.

Just like Johnny Flynn said, the breath I've taken and the one I must to go on.

Welcome back, you left Islam at the age of 14? :O  parrot

You sound like a very intelligent person.

Hey there! Welcome/welcome back! I don't think I would have been able to take the mental plunge required to reject the religion I was raised in at 14, either! What settled it for you? Smiley

What settles it for me was that it was causing me depression and constant unhappiness and I thought it over and it didn't seem like logic. Mainly influenced by people on this forum and watching debates etc.

Just like Johnny Flynn said, the breath I've taken and the one I must to go on.

Wow! Smiley Agreed, jrg. I used to read debates on The Student Room and then stop reading them because I was scared of disbelief, and of the immense consequences of feeling like the religion that had consumed my life since childhood wasn't true. It feels good to be free of that fear now, but I couldn't have shaken it off as a teenager.

Hope you're in a better place in terms of the depression now OP. Much love to ya. We're here if you ever need anything Smiley Do the family know, if you don't mind me asking? How have they taken the fact that you're not practising?

     far away hug

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
