Films dont normally make me cry, but The Champ was a sad story  Cry

Usually feel-good documentaries make me well up.  The Secret Millionaire is  a series in the UK, where an undercover millionaire goes under the spoof of a charity worker, helps out in whatever way he can for a week, and then at the end he reveals his identity and usually hands them a cheque for ?10,000-100,000.

Brings tears to my eyes everytime!

Hey I know exactly what you mean! I don't even really like that show but it brings a tear to my eye towards the end. They did a "slumdog secret millionaire" too but haven't seen it yet.

The unlived life is not worth examining.

Its worth watching, i watched it on BBC iplayer and it might still be available

The Requiem of a Dream - has a very sad ending, you'll only understand the movie if you were/are a drug addict  whistling2

Thought that movie was more about seeing jennifer connelly in the double ended dildo rotating table scene.

Was a good film though.   yes  It's called requiem for a dream.

Ellen Burstyn was the best thing in that film.  The whole heroin addiction leading to sexual degradation and gangrene part was so over the top depressing I just disengaged, but the woman thinking she was a contestant on a quiz show only to get carted off for a lobotomy was heartbreaking to watch.

I can't believe Burstyn didn't win an Oscar for that role, btw.  I wonder which silicon-implanted non entity who we've never heard from since won it that year.   Roll Eyes

Haven't seen that since I was a little kid. Musta been about 6 or 7 when it came out. I didn't like it because I was rootin for the scientists to catch ET. Who was that little punk Elliot to stand in the way of science? Seriously.

That was the only good part of the movie. I hate Aronofksy's movies-- he's such a pretentious prick.

Speaking of Jennifer Connelly, my favorite movie with her in it was Career Opportunities. Good ole John Hughes.

    Up.

the part where they play out the old guy's entire life with his wife made me feel sad... especially when she couldnt have children and then died without ever having lived her dream.

OMG!  That movie is great!  Roberto Benigni's character in that movie reminds me so much of my grandfather, it makes it difficult for me to watch.

Also, Schindler's List, but pretty much any movie about the Holocaust will get my emotions stirred up.

    +1

I couldn't even watch that movie more than once. It's one of the few movies I totally loved that I've only seen once.

It's an interesting movie and yes, the tale of Bjork's character slowly losing her sight whilst she is struggling to raise her child as a single, immigrant parent is sad.

    How come?

People raping and murdering other people tends to piss me off. Hate crimes in general tend to piss me off. When I was watching it, I knew it was based on a true story (but I didn't know the whole story) so it just really pissed me off when they raped and murdered Brandon and that other chick. I didn't identify with Brandon too much cause I thought he was kinda stupid and making some really dumb decisions, so I wasn't really sad so much as angry that someone could do that.

    fuck you

Q-Man, I know what you mean... I too was enraged at the things depicted in the film mostly because it was based on a true story and it's not the only case of homophobia, transphobia and misogyny, all realities in our world. It's the mix of anger and empathy that's the reason I can't rewatch that film.

One friendly suggestion I will point out, with transexual people, it is courteous to use pronouns that depict the gender *they* feel they are, not the gender *we* think they ought to be.
