I was going to say Fatima (married Ali) and Ibrahim (died as an infant) but wasn't sure if there were any more that died in infancy.

    Don't kill them...

I'm sure that's the answer they want you to give, but not the whole story:

    Quote
Narrated Samurah ibn Jundub: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Kill the old men who are polytheists, but spare their children.

    -Abu Dawood, Kitab al-Jihad, #2664

And Muhammad wasn't exactly heartbroken when he heard children of the enemy were being killed:

    Quote
It is reported on the authority of Sa'b b. Jaththama that the Prophet of Allah (may peace be upon him), when asked about the women and children of the polytheists being killed during the night raid, said: They are from them.

    -Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Jihad, #4321

thnkyu for the answers everyone! I'm going to send these to Islamonline's competition.  Smiley

I felt guilty not knowing some of the answers, its wrong to reject something or worse criticise something one isn't even knowledgable about. Most answers I'd read in the Quran, Hadiths or Sira though, I'd simply forgotten.

I wonder why Khadija got pregnant six times while married to Mohammed when between all his other wives there's only one pregnancy.   idiot2

Khadija was also 40 when married to Mohammed, Shias,Bohras & some other Muslim sects believe that only Fatimah is Mo & Khadijah's biological daughter, the rest are the kids of one of Khadija's late relatives, who stayed in her house & called Mohammed father & Khadija mother.

This helps to establish the pre eminence of Fatima & Ali I guess. bunny

:: Q 1: The year in which the Prophet (pbbuh) was born witnessed a historic event that Arabs used to remember. What was that incident? And, what is the Qur'anic surah (chapter) that narrates it?

::  [baal] Bullshit. The year of the elephant was 30yrs before muhammad was born. But of course every muslim out there is under the impression that the failed attack by the elephants happend the year muhammad was born.

:: Q. 2: What was the first Qur'anic ayah (verse) that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him)? What lessons can you draw from this verse?

[Baal] The one where he was asked to recite.

:: Q. 3. "Year of sorrow" was a title given to a specific year that had remarkable incidents in the Prophet life. What were these incidents?

[Baal] His first wife, Ms.Moneycow died. And he was wifeless.

:: Q. 4: What was the reaction of Zayd ibn Harithah when he was asked to choose between his father, who found him after long time in slavery, and remaining with the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

[Baal] He chose to marry his young lolita wife to his new sugar daddy.

:: Q. 5: What was the first institution the Prophet established after reaching Madinah?

[Baal] None. All the institutions were already there. At best he converted the existing city forum to a mosque. An action his followers were very fond of doing over and over.

:: Q. 6 : How many children did the Prophet (pbuh) have got? What are their names?

[Baal] Does ibrahim count? or do we prefer to keep quiet about the real father of that kid.

:: Q. 7: Did the Prophet visit Al-Qasa mosque? If yes, write when this happened and what is the significance of that visit?

[Baal] The Aqsa mosque was not built yet during Muhammad visit to that mosque while flying a donkey. Oh wait. Did i say this right?

:: Q. 8: When the Companions went for a battle, what was the Prophet's advice for them regarding women, elderly, children, and monks?

[Baal] Booty on earth, and if you die, then booty in heaven.

:: Q. 9: It is well-known that the pagans in Makkah dealt with the Prophet and his followers in a very harsh way to the extent that they tortured and killed many Muslims. What was the reaction of the Prophet toward the Makkans when he opened Makkah in a huge army?

[Baal] Ordered Ten of his critics to be captured and killed even if they hid behind the curtains of the kaaba.

:: Q. 10: Mention three items the Prophet focused on in the Farewell sermon.

[Baal] If I was to read the correct sermon, not the sermon that came to exist few decades ago, I would say: Emptying the entire arab peninsula of all other religions except the one true deen. Warned about the apostates. And perhaps something else just as spiteful.

There's some scepticism that Ibrahim may not have been his biological kid (ie. Maryam slept with someone else). However if this is the case then I don't understand why he would be so upset when Ibrahim died?

It's based on the fact that none of his others wives became pregnant. Some people who think Mo may be infertile or have some type of erectile dysfunction.

I'm quite sceptical of it myself. Pulling out before ejaculating is only 70% effective as far as I'm aware. I don't think they had any other type of contraception back then meaning Mo should still have had plenty of kids (he had enough wives!). There's also a hadith where Mo tells his soldiers that there is no need to pull out before ejaculating when raping... I mean having 'consensual' sex with their captives as whoever God decreed to be born will be born. I'm not sure if Mo practiced this, but even with or without this there is a good reason to question his fertility.

I said 'other' wives, meaning wives not Khadija.

While it is a good percentage it is not good enough. For every 10 times you have sex, 3 of those times you are likely to get pregnant (otherwise it would be a preferred method of contraception Wink) The fact that he only got one person pregnant during all those years is highly improbable.

Male fertility decreases with age, so whether or not Muhammed could father children in his latter years, well I  suppose it depends how high Muhammed's sperm count was to begin with.

Good point, I've just read up on it. Sperm count deteriorates as you get older and the quality becomes poorer.

Mo was 50 when he married Aisha right? In that case he probably was almost infertile, and it explains why Ibrahim died shortly after birth (the older you are, the more your kid is like to have defects).

    Thanks Peruvian! Smiley

According to Ibn Ishaq, Mo was also getting fatter with age. Here's the amusing account:  Cheesy

After the battle of Uhud, Muhammad tried to climb a hill to get a better view. Writes Ibn Ishaq:

The apostle made for a rock on the mountain to climb it. He had become heavy by reason of his age, and moreover he had put on two coats of mail(1), so when he tried to get up he could not do so. Talha b. 'Ubaydullah squatted beneath him and lifted him up until he settled comfortably upon it.

Mo the infertile & fatso! hush Maybe age & gluttony combined to make him infertile!

World renowned historian Will Durant"...the Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precious good, whose delicate complex order and freedom can at any moment be overthrown..."
