  • A request to Hassan: Dr Zakir Naik & 'Scientific Miracles in the Quran'
     OP - May 03, 2009, 02:14 AM

Hassan I have always been a big fan of your youtube account 'discussislam' but if there is just ONE thing you havent done yet is to neutralise the whole 'Scientific Miracles in the Quran' dogma used by the likes of Dr Zakir Naik et al. grin12

Zakir Naik, whom I never really liked even during my Muslim years, is someone quoted by all sorts of big and small jihadies and Muslims wanting to give credibility to their religion as being scientifically authentic. Debates with poorly informed christian and hindu figures by the likes of Zakir Naik in front of a heavily Muslim audience doesnt do anyone good. "My god beats up your god...and its proved by scientific miracles" etc. Roll Eyes

Now it is time to at least make some videos about all this nonsensical insults to science by using stuff discovered theorised and proven by non-Muslims centuries AFTER their supposed true religion came out yet NEVER mentioned anything scientific until they saw the science and compared (insulted) the works of such great scientists by quoting ambiguous riddles from Quran/Hadith to take undeserved credit. finmad

Hassan...your next video(s) are ideal to counter this nonsense for the sake of science and the service science has given to humanity rather than to a select band of abrahamic religious people. piggy

Is there anything like a semi-official list of all these supposed miracles with each "proof"?
Or are they all done by video, so they can be dramatic and appeal to emotions? :S

Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.

There was a website with a really good list but I cant seem to find it. If you want the book that started it all, it's called The Bible, The Quran and Science by Maurice Bucaille.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Suprah and it has crossed my mind, but I haven't done it yet for three reasons.

    1. I'm lazy. (It would mean looking up all the various scientific miracles, their verses, the traditional interpretations, what modern Muslims say, the various linguistic arguments etc... Plus it would have to be a series of videos as one video wouldn't cover them.)

    2. I'm not a scientist. I can speak with a certain amount of authority on the Qur'an, tafseer etc, because that is what I studied. When I talk about these things I know what I'm talking about. But I am reluctant to present myself as an authority on specialist areas of science, such as embryology - for example - as this is not my area of expertise.

    3. There are quite a few good videos out there that already debunk the Scientific Miracles.

But again thanks for the vote of confidence.  Afro

I have another suggestion.  You could just put some of the vids by scientists debunking Bucaillism on your You Tube channel, that would save you the bother of making a whole load of your own.

I'm not sure what I mean, I'm not very You Tube savvy sorry.   wacko

You know when you go onto someone's You Tube channel and they have a section which shows all their own vids that they made, and underneath a section with vids that they didn't make but like, and are usually related to their subject.  I thought you could put a few sciencey ones in that second bit.

Hey Hassan...why dont you try collaborating on youtube online with the anti-creationists like AronRa and thunderf00t (search their channels on youtube) to make a massive project that wrecks Harun Yahya and Zakir Naik ? dance

them two boys can give you all the scientific info you need, and you can use your understanding of Tafsirs to join forces and form something more cooler than the nWo in WCW (yes I WAS a wrestling fan...and stopped watching 3 years back).

"religion is a biggest disgrace to human dignity, without religion you will have good  people doing good deeds and bad people doing evil deeds but for good people to do evil things ,it takes religion"

I used to have that as my sig.  Its a quote from the Nobel Prize winning physicist Steven Weinberg, and it should read like this...

Religion is an insult to human dignity.  With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion.

The thing that really annoys me about Zakir Naik is that people get so impressed with his knowledge of christian, hindu and muslim scriptures,  they fail to see that his commentary is actually not very intellectual at all and really lack substance. Like when he says that the following ayat

21:33 It is He Who created the Night and the Day, and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course.

is proof of the scientific miracles of the Qur'an as it says that the sun spins on its own axis! Even though it is clearly describing the aristotelian geocentric universe.
His explanation of this ayat is EXTREMELY weak. So weak, that it is offensive to scientists to claim that it is a scientific miracle, yet his eloquence and knowledge of scriptures mesmerises people and they listen to him!

The other issue I have with him is he only really talks infront of largely Muslim audiences, and therefore, never has any difficult questions to answer.

So he stands there, with his extremely impressive memorised knowledge of scriptures, answering easy questions, and telling people exactly what he wants because they will agree with every word he said.

Religion - The hot potato that looked delicious but ended up burning your mouth!

Knock your head on the ground, don't be miserly in your prayers, listen to your Sidi Sheikh, Allahu Akbar! - Lounes Matoub
