That's ridiculous.  God gives no reason to believe that the Baptist church, out of all the religions in existence, is The Truth.  So if somebody fails to recognise an improperly revealed truth, God deliberately deceives them, then sends them to Hell for being deceived!  That's not much of a God.

My point still stands.  God gives us no reason to believe that the Bible, out of all the Holy Books in existence, is the true one.  In fact, if by "Bible believing" you mean Biblical literalism, there is considerable evidence that it is not true.  And then, having revealed his truth in such a confusing, unconvincing manner he further deceives those who are unconvinced by it, and then sends them to Hell for an unbelief that he is responsible for!  That's ridiculous.

if one keeps turning away... God will eventually say... I will send you deception

How do you know you are not the one being deceived?
  • Re: Absurd Doubts

And what is "her way"? Did she want to be deceived? If so, what makes you think this?

However, even if she did want to be deceived, does that mean God was justified in deceiving her?

If I murdered somebody who wanted me to kill them, would my murder be justified because they wanted me to do it?

To whom much is given, much is required. Oprah knew the truth from a little child...and she despised it. Now she is surrounding with deceiving ear-ticklers...and exposing her millions of viewers with these same ear-ticklers....and it's not for lack of exposure to truth, but that she was given the truth and despised it.

To answer your second question, you are not God.

Ok, I take it your answer to the first question is, yes, she wanted to be deceived. Your justification for believing this sounds highly dubious to me. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and follow your line that Oprah wanted to be deceived, so God deceived her.

The next question I asked was, as you correctly noticed, intended to question God's actions. To which you replied, "you are not God." I understand that what you mean is that I am not God and therefore I cannot question God.

So why do you quote the Qur'an and then judge Allah? The Muslim could just say, "You are not God". What do you say to that?

The unlived life is not worth examining.

Well actually Shaneequa has already replied to your objection by dissolving God of responsibility that man has been deceived because it isn't actually God who deceives man, it is lying demons that God sent to man.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Shaneequa's reply as long as she believes that sending somebody to murder a particular person cannot be held responsible for the murder because they didn't actually do the murder... they just sent somebody else to do the murder. Thus, I am questioning Shaneequa whether she is ready to accept this.

No, that doesn't answer my objections - it is God who is responsible for revealing the truth, ie, the Bible.  Given that it is confusing, unconvincing and in many cases just plain wrong, it is God's fault if people don't believe.  The issue of responsibility for sending a demon to deceive is separate to that.

Most certainly not.  This thread is for everyone to debate any views expressed in it, including yours.  If you want a private conversation, send him a PM.   Afro

However this is not an exclusive thread. It's for everyone - as you surely must already be aware of.

So, how do you know you are not the one being deceived, Shan?

What do you want to talk about?

As you know this is not a private topic.

    I started it for everyone.

If you read the opening post, you will see that I asked every member to give an example of something in which they have real doubt.

It can be seen that most doubts that Atheist harbour in their heart are mostly silly and absurd doubts.

They are not real logical doubts. They have no validity.

Atheists are deluded by their unreasonable doubts.

    Its tragic and ironic.

Bummer. Okay...I'll just post the lyrics:

    You take a mortal man,
    And put him in control
    Watch him become a god,
    Watch peoples heads aroll
    Aroll...

    /chorus/
    Just like the pied piper
    Led rats through the streets
    We dance like marionettes,
    Swaying to the symphony...
    Of destruction

Only the pied piper can save Great Britain now:

I know you guys consider me an infidel.

But if I may, I would like to you an imprtant question.

You people say you do not believe in religion.

You claim that you have left false beliefs.

You do not accept holy men, and have decided to follow scientists.

I want to know something from you.

    What exactly do you doubt?

Please tell me as to what is it that you actually doubt.

I don't doubt anything - doubt does not even enter my lexicon in any way shape or form, except to wonder who you are and what you are.

My boyfriend has saved several lives, and by that I mean he has saved them from DYING.

He is an atheist. He hasn't been touched by god.

What makes you more worthy than him? He has dedicated his life to saving people, and god doesn't feel he is worthy of god's so called fucking holy touch?!

I dont know your boyfriend. He seems a good guy.

If I talk to him, then maybe I could give you an answer.

Maybe your boyfriend does not like God to touch him?

    For eaxmple,

A girl may be worthy of being touched, but if she is bent lesbo,
then no matter how good she is, no matter how many lives she saves,
it is obvious that no man will touch her because she is not interested in men.

One has to be interested in God instead of monkeys.

The Supreme Being does not force himself on anyone.

    God is not a rapist.

That should be sufficent for a thinking lady like you.

    Big difference.

If a man was rejected by a lesbian and he later kidnapped her, burnt her skin off and then gave her new skin and repeated the same thing over and over again, simply because she was not interested in him... that kind of reduces his chances of being morally perfect.
