Ok sunshine, word of warning here. See the board title? See how it says "Sanctuary"? This means you don't stomp into someone's personal thread and start preaching hellfire and damnation at them. Keep that up and you wont last long. Play your games elsewhere. That is an order.

Oh. That most certainly will not be happening! My dad wouldn't force me to get married, he's a good man Smiley I'm sure my pakistani relatives will hate me anyway, I can barely speak punjabi any more.

I've told my boyfriend to inform the authorities if he doesn't hear from me for a month anyway Tongue I'll be taking precautions. I trust my immediate family but I'm shit scared of Pakistan. I've been there several times before so hopefully it should be just fine.

    Why not

    O this country's chivalrous Generals,
All the land belongs to you.
    You desire Mansions
    You crave (residential) plots.
    O living examples of Greed
All the deals belong to you.

The original song was dedicated to our brave soldiers who were on the front lines in the futile stalemate war with India back in September 1965. It was sung by famed singer Noor Jehan titled 'Aey watan kay sajeelay jawano". Quite a big hit back in the day.

Not saying your dad will force you, but family pressures (esp. from any relatives he has) can make anyone crack.

No need to be scared, just be kind to relatives (esp. any girl cousins you have...I bet they look up to you highly Smiley ) be patient, stay in touch with your BF discretely if need be, you dont want a crazy aunty suddenly over-reacting and saying "Hai mein marr gaee !!!" etc  Cheesy you know how over-dramatic desis are  Cheesy

I am sure it will be great being there for a few days, and I wish you a happy pleasant trip Smiley Try visiting Lahore and Islamabad as well whilst there. Lahore is awesome.

Nice story. Hopefully more and more people can leave the religion virus behind. But you should certainly be careful, considering your location. If there is one thing you can not criticise openly in muslims countries, its their illogical religion.

Hey, great story. Being an atheist from Pakistan as well I can relate to many of the things you said. And its also a bit freaky because we've both studied a few years overseas Smiley (I was in australia for about 3 years)

I went to fairly good schools as I said, but it was during my time in Azad Kashmir when my dad was posted there, that I experienced my first shock as a boy of religious abuse. I went to a school where during the Islamiyat lessons, the local maulvi from a Mosque teaching us how to recite the many difficult Surahs and Verses in the Quran. If anyone fucked up, boy or girl, he would grab their hand, and whip the kid on the palm with a foot ruler he carried with him. Now as a 10 year old, I was bat shit scared of what I saw, and when I knew I fucked up...i cried like hell in fear...to the extent that the Maulvi actually took some sympathy and left me alone without getting a rash on my hand. It went on for around 2 years, but I had managed to overcome any troubles and avoided any beatings (i have always been a good yet underachieving student) so I witnessed the thrashings but didnt get any myself.

I can really relate to you on that, we were also taught arabic in middle school (class 8th or so) which included quran, and it was so annoying. Even though we had a female teacher, she had exactly the same sadistic policy of making people read the verses and if you pronounced anything wrong she would hit you with this cane. Fucking cunt. That was the class I hated the most during all my school years, and I often started skipping school when she would test us and got poor score that year although generally I was a pretty good student.

    Quote
It was during my time there, that I saw some of the many sexual perversions I would see eventually among boys and people in general at time.

Pakistan definitely has an annoying gay culture, because the guys aren't allowed near girls they often grope each other etc. Although I'm not sure how much of this is specific to Pakistan and how much is just regular teenager behavior..

Its sexual frustration which leads to sexual desperation in countries like Pakistan where boys and girls are not supposed to mingle and interact with one another beyond the usual we are like brother and sister mantra force fed by parents and society.
