That might be a bad idea if she ends up getting a bad rep Tongue

Wouldn't happen anyway lol I don't notice men when I;m out and about mostly.  My friend was surprised I even noticed this guy and is now super big on the idea of making sure I go after him because she knows it could be a few more years before I notice anyone else.  Tongue

Not true, men also have to do it behave in a certain way depending on the type of girl they want.

e.g. If I was after a tart, I would just buy them lots of drinks and start snogging early.  If I was really attracted  and wanted to date her, I would spend time conversing with her, take things at her pace, take her number and ask her out on a date, say a nice meal somewhere.

My point is that the approach is dependent on what you are after.

Not so much, it's more about manners than it is about a mans clothes.  I'm just surprised that a forum of ex muslims, who know exactly how wrong it is to judge females on what they wear is actuully advocating that I consider what I am wearing at the time and make sure it not be too slutty because of the impression it will give out.  wacko

    I never mentioned clothes  Huh?

That's my plan though, I want to keep control of this on my terms so I'd rather play the part usually designated to the man.

Talking about control, it reminds me of something my MBA lecturer once told us (dont agree with it, but it does apply for some)

"A man likes to think he's in control, but he isn't.  A woman makes the man think he's in control, but she really is."

I'm more likely to hire someone based on how they make me feel, although appearance would play a part it would not be the biggest factor by a long shot.  For one I am totally aware that sometimes people are down in the dumps in their life so might not be able to afford to attnd the job interview dressed as well as the person before who has money, or just because some girls got shocking pink hair she will be bad at her job.

It's not about appearance - it is about impression. "How they make you feel" (in your words) is the impression that they've created for you.

If the person gives you the impression that they are really really incompetent at the job and would be really unpleasant to work with in the first 30 minutes - how much time can you give them to prove that the 30 minutes representation of themselves isn't accurate - especially if there are 99 other candidates?  Their clothes, or hair etc. do not matter much or at all - depending on the situation.

Back to your situation, if you are meeting a guy - what do you want to make him feel?  (and I mean first impression - not later that night  Wink )

    One extra comment:
Regarding wearing the "wrong" clothes (or any other element of impression which might you feel is "wrong" or negative), an impression is built up from a variety of sources - clothes, body language, vibe, communication, other information.
Wearing "wrong" clothes is only a problem if other elements of your impression creation create the same "wrong" impression. If they contradict that impression which that element creates, it can be a good thing.  "Hey this guy has shocking pink hair but works at a large law firm- how intriguing, how does that work".
(or it can be a bad thing, if other elements of the impression are bad - "There is something wrong here - s/he is faking/lying to me"

Of course that assumes that whatever you are doing is "wrong".  Wearing "sexy"  clothing need not be "wrong" in the first place.  But in summary, even if it is "wrong", if other elements of the impression you create contradict it and are true for you you simply add to your air of mystery/intrigue - which is a good thing.

I see it didn't take long for this to hit 5 pages.

How do guys feel about this?

    Good.

    And that's bad because...?

Fellas, have you been hit on by a woman?

    Yeah, a few times.

    Quote
    tell me about.

One time this extremely hot hostess at a restaurant I was working at (as a cook) came outside while I was on a smoke break and having a beer and said "*****, I've got something to tell you-- I've had a big crush on you for some time". I didn't waste any time in asking her to go out the following night. It felt like fuckin Christmas to me.

    Quote
Did your perception of the woman change because of her directness?

Not really. I mean, if I found the girl attractive it just got me excited and horny, but if I didn't it did make me feel awkward around the girl-- but that's a risk we guys gotta run all the time.

    Quote
    did you feel emasculated?

What? Hell no. Everytime it happens my ego gets even bigger, are you fuckin kidding me?

    Quote
did it lead to anything?  Tongue

Hell fuckin yes! A girl comes on to me, even being the clueless anti-social bastard I am, I can't fuck it up. In the aforementioned example, despite many things I did which may have fucked our first date up, it led to dirty porno-style sex.

    Quote
Is that only if it is a woman asking to buy a man a drink?  or is it the same in reverse because I honestly never thought that when a man offered to buy me a drink it was a self esteem issue.

One time, back when I was 21, I saw this very attractive girl at the bar and I barely had enough money to buy my own drinks at the time so I said to her "I think you're very attractive and would like to buy you a drink but I'm flat broke, have no job, no car and live with my grandparents". She bought me a drink! And we started dating shortly thereafter. I told this story to my guy friends and a couple of them called me back a few days later and said "Hey, I tried that line of yours about having no money the other day and it didn't work". Incredulously I said "Of course it didn't work! It wasn't a fuckin line and it was a million to one shot that happened to pay off. Don't think I could do it again if I tried."

When it happened to me before (once by a gay man!) and I found it a complete turn off.  A less direct approach was more appealing.

When I was younger gay guys hitting on me made me uncomfortable and a bit uneasy about my own sexuality, but now that I'm less homophobic I consider it quite the compliment. Not that I'm saying you're homophobic, just that I don't mind the direct route even when it's by someone of the same sex who I'm just gonna tell "I'm not gay". In fact, it's far less awkward if a gay guy does it than a woman I don't find attractive.

    fuck you

I always flirt back if a girl hits on me, it got quite awkward once when I was just being over-friendly with a girl (didn't realise I was flirting) and she ended up inviting me back to hers! I was an idiot and didn't realise she was a lesbian. I can be so thick at times. (I didn't go back to hers in case you're wondering, would've been bloody awkward if I did!)

I didnt mention why his directness made me feel uncomfortable.  I was sat at the back of a bus, he came on the empty but and sat right next to me.  He then said I looked quite sporty, and asked if I played any sports. I told him I played tennis, at which he started to move his fingers from my knees to my thighs saying how 'built' they were (they weren't at all).  He continued feeling up and almost reach my groin, at which point I said it was my stop and had to get off.

I had to walk an extra few miles home that day (it wasnt my stop).

Oh, okay...yeah, that's different. I feel flattered by a gay guy hitting on me, but if one started groping me on the bus I'd knock the fuckin perv's block off.

They are usually more subtle then men.

Best way is to look out for the signs - fiddling with jewellary, struggling to articulate themselves, prolonged gazes, erect nipples - that kind of thing  Smiley

That's not subtle, that's completely vague.
If you look hard enough you can spot those signs even in girls who don't give a crap :S

Me neither, I meant more in the sense of the fashionable trend it has become now to stick these on to mimic arousal for girls who have no need of them in the first place.  You can get extra large ones too.  Plus Islame said checking to see if a girls nipples were erect was a sign of attraction.
