oh and fombles.  i had to change from electric to gas when i moved here,
and i tried making my signature cheesecake, and it took THREE HOURS
to cook it LOL.  It came out okay, but I wound up having to put the pie
pan in a tray of hot water first (like custard) to get the texture, doneness
and taste right in less than two hours lol.  Ya just experiment Smiley

That's my favourite dish from Chinese restaurants, except I like it with thin noodles, and the chicken is battered.

How'd you make it? Smiley I'm not the biggest fan of sweet & sour.

    Didn't say I didn't like it, havn't had it.

I make everything from scratch too, in fact, I photograph each process when I've perfected it, and write about it to my friend.

I make it sound very scientific, but I take pictures with my iphone, then text my pal.

It's really simple and easy to make, all I use is white vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce and cornstarch mixed with water. You mix the vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and soy sauce together and wait for it to boil. Then add the cornstarch and water, shake it about a bit then add to the other ingredients that you wish to use, I personally use finely chopped mixed peppers that you can get easily from Tescos or whatever, so add that to the sauce and stir to thicken.

    Tada. grin12

Oh well now I can say I probably don't like your food. Just kidding, it sounds like a thing that SHOULD be bad, but surprises you.

Like...Carbonated soft drinks, WHAT THE FUCK? Why take a sweet liquid, and blast gasses into making it prone to pressure leaks and irritating your mouth instead of soothing it.

But yes a cold can of coke...is heaven, for me anyway, in the heat.

When I meant sweet and sour, I forgot about the Western invention. I meant sweet as in plum sauce, or mandarin sauce.

My real favourite is in fact roast duck with plum sauce and fired noodles. You should try that, the problem with making good Chinese food at home is the ingredients Chinese people actually use are very rarely found here. So your method is the next best thing I suppose,

Why not try using vinegar, plum relish, red peppers, Chinese 5 spice, red onions, shiitake mushrooms and peanut oil. Also try another bird, like a budgie, or a swan. Just kidding, I mean duck or pheasant. Actually, not game - it's probably too strong for this dish.

That is probably closer to an authentic Chinese version, sounds quite interesting an experiment I may give it a go myself.

Bla bla bla bla .. oh wait yes a compliment .. finally  whistling2 Of course if you want true chinese food with the chinese herbs and oils, then you can buy them ready made, which I do sometimes resort to if I don't have all of the ingredients at home. But my own recipe does taste very authentic and taste buddingly delish.  grin12

Maybe it's just me who thought ketchup, brown sauce and vinegar does not give me an IMMEDIATE urge for complimentary praise. Huh?

How do you upload images? I have some of my own things you can rip on or compliment to your hearts content.
