I agree that it is noble and worthwhile to get religious people to try and critically assess their own religion with the ultimate aim of enabling them to break the shackles of their faith. I disagree that this can be achieved through a shouting match. As I said before, after such heated and emotive discussions, they (the religious) will become further entrenched in their faith-based position. We're all guilty of it, myself very much included.
A gentle, reasoned, polite and respectful exchange is far more likely to yield desirable results. At best, such exchanges can emancipate people from their dogma. At the very least, they might start to question things.
PS. Sorry to Hassan for the 'old man' comment! I meant it in a metaphorical/metaphysical/figurative sense, of course!
