Hey, we could do a 'second world' meet up in a pub somewhere - and we could play "guess who's who"

    http://www.chatzy.com/

Websites like this allow you to create indefinite chat rooms and all you have to do is send the link.

They can pay for the server space. I'm gonna try and make one now.

    Oh regarding this:

IRC is definitely an option. The interface is daggy as hell though. Buggers are stuck in the 80's IMO. One thing I can do if people want me to is to make the shoutbox a full page of its own. That is very easy to set up.

I assume most people know about the "Show last 60" link just above the entry box for the shoutbox. If you click that link it will switch to a full page display. You can run this in a separate tab if you want a bigger shoutbox.

More interested in real meet ups. Even more in orgies.

    +1  Cheesy

Personally I despise msn msgr and avoid it like the swine flu  piggy ... would rather use yahoo msgr, that has a nice multi-user chat conference feature with audio and video if we want. Or skype, which has multi-chat with audio but without video. I use those 2 regularly. It's easy to set up anonymous accounts with either of those services just for the sake of chatting with people you don't know. Too easy I tell ya.

Not sure what meeting online would achieve. More interested in real meet ups. Even more in orgies.

You can not have real meet-up when our members are scatered around the world. Some in Canada, some in Africa, and some are down under.

We should probably go for Yahoo then. By the way, what is so sucky about MSN? (apart from the fact that my smileys have stopped working in it)

Well it might not be so bad if you use it all the time and don't mind having it in your startup folder. For me, I just hate it whenever I use it, it won't stay on unless I allow it in my startup folder to start up automatically each time I reboot. And I don't like the integrated video within the chat box, makes it so you can't move the video window around on its own, which yahoo let's you. In my experience, msn's annoying aspects kinda don't pay off. But it's to each their own... in fact msn contacts and yahoo contacts show up in each other's msgr programs if you add them with their full email address. I don't know if that'd work with multi-user conference chats though... hmmm

Ok. Always stays on for me. I have it in my start menu but even if I turn it off I can switch it back on again and it's stable. Come to think of it I have too much crap in my start menu.
Video doesn't bug me because my connection isn't fast enough to stream live video. I have to let YouTube vids preload before I can watch them without them stalling.

ETA: I am kinda pissed that the smileys have stopped working though. I may need to re-install the bloody thing just to get my parrot back.

Hey is this the bugger to get? Not sure if Yahoo IM and Yahoo7 IM are the same gizmo.

    I'm using version 9 downloadable from: http://messenger.yahoo.com

You'll have to have a yahoo user account: http://www.yahoo.com/r/m7 if you don't already have one.

As for the msn msgr, yeah, i'd uninstall and reinstall it.  wacko

Hey Allat, does Yahoo IM have better security than MSN?

That's quite cool. That's pretty much what we need. What do you think Os?
  • Re: Can we all meet online?

Interface is daggy but it's free and it works. Could be worse.

ETA: For an IM it's pretty slow and they're aren't any frills. Does it have any real advantages over using Yahoo or whatever?

Probably not. Can we have yahoo chatrooms? Or you on about the messenger?

Well I figure with the messenger you could invite anyone in like on MSN yeah?

Yeah, but most of us have each other on msn anyway. Why switch to yahoo?
  • Re: Can we all meet online?

I might have to create a new msn a/c for it.
  • Re: Can we all meet online?

Allat reckons MSN craps out for her. Also MSN has crap security. I was thinking of trying Yahoo anyway. Can use either though.

I think security wise, yahoo and msn aren't much different. I like the idea of using
http://www.chatzy.com/192496838613 for just casual chitchats though... saves people the hassle of creating an account, downloading the msgr (yahoo or msn or whatever), installing it etc if they don't have it already.
