Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or certainty of corruption by full authority. There is no worse heresy than the fact that the office sanctifies the holder of it. - Lord Acton

"You've got to question God when the strongest argument for his existence is the absence of disproof."

It was written in the comments section of our newspaper today, atheism was bought up a lot quite recently when a priest said in his Easter speech that atheism was becoming a problem.

no tengo por que tener miedo mis palabras son balas
balas de paz, balas de justicia
soy la voz de los que hicieros callar sin razon
por el solo hecho de pensar distinto, ay Dios

We have a natural right to make use of our pens as of our tongue, at our peril, risk and hazard.  ~Voltaire

The only valid censorship of ideas is the right of people not to listen.  ~Tommy Smothers

The test of democracy is freedom of criticism.  ~David Ben-Gurion

The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge ~ Albert Einstein

    ---

I also read up on some Christian quotes, and what a wonderful world it would be if more people used these quotes and disregarded the uglier ones.

"But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also... Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
