    So you'd support requests from any Neo-Nazi party member workmates of yours to have "time out" during working hours to hold "sieg heil" sessions in  a special room set aside for that purpose?     Muslims care. They care because their "holy book" says they gotta eat halal meat and they think they will burn in hell forever if they don't. If they didn't care so damned much about the matter they wouldn't have lobbied to put halal on the school menu.     I am always very cynical about people who object to halal meat on the grounds of animal welfare for a number of reasons.

    The first reason is why is halal meat the first thing these people pick on, when factory farming in this country is as unethical as it is? Halal slaughter is nowhere near the biggest animal welfare issue in the farming industry. I have read on the bnp website about the cruelty of halal slaughter. The BNP do not give a shit about animal cruelty, they just need as many sticks they can get their hands on to beat jonny foreigner with.

    Also, if you look at history, ritual slaughter was banned in 16th century spain, it was banned in nazi germany, and it was banned in Italy under Mussolini. In all three of these cases, the ban was not due to any concern for animal welfare but because of anti semitism. I don't think society is that different today.

    And thirdly, most halal meat these days is stunned anyway - what is the big deal?

    Are we going to accept many changes to what was simply because they slide in smoothly enough to say "what's the big deal"?

    I mean there is the whole slippery slope arguement, and I for one am never keen to use it, but in this instance there have been quite a few "minor" changes that have passed simply because it wasn't a big deal.

    Introducing sharia courts, even if only for family disputes, no doubt was said "well it's not really a big deal, we have jewish courts and whatnot, why not hey" and the next thing you know we have sharia courts. 

    I'm just spitting this out as the devils advocate because I would like to hear a response.  Smiley

    Who are "these people"? The "animal rights weirdos" Q-man disparagingly refers to have been pretty vociferous over the years on the subject of factory farming. So I don't think it is correct  that halal meat is being particularly "picked on" by genuine animal welfarists.

    I am sure the BNP have their own agenda and are taking advantage of the main UK political parties' failure to address non-Muslim UK citizens'
    legitimate concerns about the spread of Islam and related problems in their country - as well as trying to pick up some of the animal welfarist votes. This does not make everything they say wrong though.

    As I have already pointed out, for those who have lobbied for halal meat on the school menu the "big deal" is that they believe that Allah will burn their kids in hell forever if they eat non-ritually-slaughtered animal flesh. How daft is that? The "big deal" for non-Muslim parents is that - for a variety of reasons - they don't want their kids to have the food they eat Islamized. Why can't you just accept that?
