Some would say it a fundamental right (me included) for people to wear what they want, as long as they are not harming anyone else?
This is where social contract arguments come in, because as much as I am with that spirit, society has to regulate clothing. It can't allow all clothing in all situations (for practical reasons at least). Sometimes veils
are used as a disguise to commit crime (there have been cases).
But the strongest one for me is that women are often forced or pressured into veiling. The problem is that banning it is just as (more?) problematic as allowing it within possibility.
Is personal freedom the decisive argument? I don't know.
