Honestly can't see how you people find Carlin funny...

Doug Stanhope.. now the man's a total prick but he is funny and he does make quite a lot of valid points as regards many things, even though I don't agree with everything he says.  He's still a piece of shit though..

What George did was take the entire concept of God and religion and made his audience see just how silly the whole thing was. What Pat does is simply insult the religion and annoy it's followers. He really needs to focus on why it's ridiculous, rather than a straight jibe.

But Carlin did not focus all his attention on one thing, he focused his attention on EVERYTHING.

Society, social behaviour, family, religion, politics, animals, life, death, business....

and he was never wrong on that, in fact he had passion and was always a well researched man.

All Condell can talk about is atheism this, atheism that, Sharia this, Sharia that.  Roll Eyes

Nah, when George got older, all he talked about was how the government is taking out the people for a ride. Asking people to wake up, etc.. . May he rest in piece. With Jesus.

"Ask the slave girl; she will tell you the truth.' So the Apostle called Burayra to ask her. Ali got up and gave her a violent beating first, saying, 'Tell the Apostle the truth.'"

I agree with Ras. I don't really find Carlin funny--aside from the Religion is BS bit. To me, most of his rants are just not funny to me. It's the sound of a grown ass man speaking like a child. Just empty rants. But then again, I guess I shouldn't be too harsh on him. He IS an entertainer.

Pat Condell is a dick. When I was 25 and a militant atheist/anarchosyndicalist, I woulda thought a video like this was just great. But nowadays he just comes across as an angry, grumpy old man. Grandpa Simpson at his worst, except not funny.

This is actually one of his better videos because unlike a couple of others I've seen ("Ban the Burqua" and "Wake Up, America!") at least this one is not filled with inaccuracies, misperceptions, ignorance, paradoxes and inconsistencies. I can't really take him to task for content here, like in his other videos, but I still think he's being a dick.

As for the George Carlin thing, I'm somewhere in the middle in that I don't think Carlin's material is as great as many do, but he could be damn funny at times, and it was pretty cutting-edge shit when it was new (not that I'm old enough to remember when it was new-- just sayin). But hopefully we can all agree that this guy isn't nearly as funny as Carlin-- not by a fuckin longshot.

    fuck you

I preferred his stuff when he got older, where he became more jaded and bitter; I love the 'kids with goofy names" stand up:

Not enough?!! There shouldn't be any.  Atheism is not a religion and therefore it does not need evangelists.   If it does then there's some sort of agenda behind it, of which I will have no part of.  Don't make the mistake many make and swap one religion for another.

Atheism is an idea contrary to the mainstream concepts of god and religion. Evangelism is to promote and bring that side of the debate to the public. Nothing wrong with that.

    So? Thats still not 'race'.
Saying I hate Southern Slave culture in early America, as an example, does that make me racist against white people who live in the south? I think the Catholic church is a disgusting institution, that doesnt make me racist against Italians. Can I be anti communist without being 'racist' against North Korean culture? Is being against castes or saying that the Baga Vita is not real racist against South Asians?
So what if its a culture, its still not 'race', and I'm just sick of the word being used that way, as it 1) makes the term lose its meaning 2) distracts from actual racism 3) is used to try a crush any criticism of stone age ideologies.
Neo-Nazis, might as well just start screaming about how its 'their German culture', so I'm racist for saying its ugly

    And I hate Southern Slaves.

Yeah but what is Atheism to be evangelized? It's a personal stance for which the reason behind it varies from individual to individual. When you evangelize anything, it has to be a set of order (indoctrination).

Yes Sam Harris is god. Love that guy! Btw, the spoken version of his anti-Islam book is on YouTube somewhere.
