    The Council of Ex Muslims of Britain American Drinking Club had their first meeting today.
    Founding members Submissive Bob and Q-Man enjoyed a few beers at Chillies this evening. Do they have chillies in Britain? I would think so. I know they have them in Saudi Arabia. My wife will be relieved to find out that Q-man is a real person with legitimate reasons for coming to our hometown and not part of an FBI sting operation to get me for associating with suspicious on-line muslims. Q-man noted that the place was full of people who appeared to be dating and that it was rather a cheap place to take a date. I agree. If you are looking for a piece of ass, then Chillies is the wrong place to make a first impression. For that and a host of other reasons, I did not submit myself to him tonight. Seriously though, it was a good time and hopefully the start of an American Ex-Muslim of Britain tradition. We're thinking of maybe doing something in NYC next time.

    LOL Chili's.  But why do I think that Q-Man could have had you for a plate of Southwestern Egg Rolls?  What's next? TGIs?  Ruby Tuesday's?  Or will CEMBADC go all out and head for... Applebee's?

    A pea coat is a dark blue coat that was traditionally worn by sailors.
    I have a pea coat. I hardly ever wear it. But for some reason I felt compelled to put it on that evening. After arranging to meet Q-man over the phone, it dawned on me that I had no clue what the guy looked like. Why didn't I ask? I usually would have asked. But I didn't, so I set off to the bar/restaurant with nothing to guide me but my instincts (or providence). When I got there, the place was packed. Literally hundreds of people there. Something told me to head directly for the bar. There were probably 50 people at the bar but I chose to walk directly up to this one guy. "Hey Bob" he said. It was Q-man. And he was wearing the same Pea coat I was. If I were religious, I would surely take it as a miracle.

    Allhuamdolillah, the pea-coat must become our symbol.  Asis the skull cap for jews, the long white tunic for muslims, the white/black collar for chistians, so for us is the humble pea-coat.  Subhanallah.

    Depends. March 11th and 20th are out for me. Unless I'm out of my region for work, weekends are normally good for me, though the 20th is out-- union meeting in Baltimore that Sat night. Let me know ahead of time so I can arrange to stay at a friend's place there. I ain't payin for no hotel at Manhattan rates.

    To keep you firmly grounded in your atheism-- it wasn't the exact same pea coat. Yours was an Old Navy dark navy blue coat, whereas I had a Claiborne black coat.

    That coat looked wicked sharp with your black leather mask, by the way.

    Oh fuck off. In my defense, it's not like I know what the good bars in that area are, and the locale was fixed at the last minute. I was near Exit 8 when Bob called back and I knew there was a Chili's there, so that was it. It had a full bar and greasy bar food. Good enough.

    Pea coat isn't mainstream in the UK then? It went from the US Navy to mil-surplus fashionable in the late 80s/early 90s, and by the late 90s/early 2000s it was mainstream. It's pretty damn fashionably versatile, as well as practical-- looks good with a dress shirt, tie and dress slacks or a t-shirt and jeans, all while keepin you nice and warm. More casual (and practical) than a top coat, but dressier than most other winter coats. I love my fuckin pea coat.

    It is mainstream, and quite the in thing at the moment. If you go to H&M, Topman, Ben Sherman, Zara, Diesel, Reiss etc. they are all stocking them.
