The only religions other than Islam that have maintained the monothiestic message are Judaism and Orthodox Christianity and this is why Allah (S.W.T) calls them "Ahl al-Kitab" and elevates them to a status higher than any other religion. All the other religions have instead of worshipping Allah (S.W.T) alone have associated Him with his prophets and messengers and this applies to all religion from Buddhism to Mayan Paganism. Now please show me one religion that claims such universality?

Are you saying that Buddhism is polytheistic?

I was actually thinking about writing "Instead of worshipping Allah (S.W.T) alone have associated Him with his prophets and messengers or replacing Him as the object of worship and this applies to all religion from Buddhism to Mayan Paganism." My bad, I just thought having too much ands in one sentence makes it sound quite stale. But why are you just attacking the technicality but not the philosophy of what I just said?
  • Re: Why were you a muslim?
     Reply #62 - September 03, 2010, 06:59 AM

I'd hate for you to think that I'm attacking you, I was just curious.
I don't think much can be said about your post - you state that you had doubts about Islam and through a process of comparative study you returned to Islam as your faith of choice.
perhaps you could tell us why you think Islam is so intellectually satisfying? Why should, for instance, an outsider that has never come across the theology of Islam find it any more satisfying than say the shamanism of Siberia?

and, i'm sorry, but buddhism is even more monotheistic than islam, in fact so much so that it is monist.

Islam must be the true religion because it is the only one that has the courage to explicitly claim that.

Lmao Wait, what?  you think that sounds like a logical deduction?   Cheesy

Ok, I explicitly and with oodles of courage, proclaim the religion of berbs to be the one true religion.

There, does that make mine real?   Roll Eyes

    Quote

Islam must be the true religion, because Islam did not start at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) but it started since humanity began, since Adam (A.S.)..

    Proof please?

Oh wait, there is NO proof of this claim aside from the claim itself.

How many of you know that Islamic tradition states that Allah (S.W.T) sent more than 300,000 Prophets to humanity all over the world before the seal of the nectar, the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) was born?

Proof please?  not just the claim, where is the proof that backs up this claim?

Firstly, the claim is 124,000. Secondly, there were parts of the world where for centuries, after Mo died, they had not a clue of what Islam was. Thirdly, I seriously hope you are a troll, because otherwise you'd better go back to school, and soon.

i'm a muslim, born into a muslim family which isn't at all conservative, they practically taught me nothing about islam. i always felt it was necessary to learn about what i believe in, so i started searching online, i've read views of muslim, non-muslims, and now i'm reading yours (the ex-muslims) , and the more i read, the more i fall in love with islam, and the more i don't understand what u guys hate about it

Reading this thread, I dont think i'v ever truly 'been' a Muslim. Born into a Muslim family, I only read the Quran cus the bloke I was sent to would hit me n it fuckin hurt (theres one thing there, why the hell can random old bearded men hit children?), but i never bothered to lern to prey - I would do the motions at mosque when I coudnt think of an excuse not to go whilst thinking of my next night out or something. But being born into a muslim family, they think your born a muslim...impossible

No, its okay here, Triant.  Btw, I've just looked up which country you live in and am shocked that you were being hit at qur'an school.  Unless you were raised in the 1950s I think that was probly illegal. Angry

It's actually pretty common. Quite a lot of the people that teach Arabic are born and raised in countries that don't find it objectionable to hit kids.

Oh definetly illegal. Wasnt even Quran school as such - just an old guy with a beard's living room, 30 kids between 7 and 13. My family used to make jokes about it - "oh look at him, he looks upset, haji-ji must have hit him today," rather than having the morals to question why a 60 year old man can hit me...looking back at it, i'd quite like to go up to this bloke and give him one back  Afro

i love the fact that whenever i have doubt about something, i always end up finding an answer. i love the fact that it's a great religion, a huge one too, covering all the aspects of our lives. All i learned about islam in my school and university afterwards was how to be peaceful, how to treat your friends, neighbors, enemies, the poor and the rich, how to stand by your brothers and sisters when they need it, how islam condemns all the bad habits, how it encourages science, respect of parents and family, patience, modesty in clothing, i could go on and on about this!! And it always shocks me how people forget about all these stuff and concentrate on usually-misunderstood- details!!

    islam is very under-estimated

If I had a kid and anyone other than me or its father hit it, I'd go ape shit.  I wouldn't wait for it to get to the beaten to the pulp/raped stage before I saw it as a big deal.

The beauty of having parents who allowed me to decide what i believed was that I could fuse different traditions together to form my views, I see too much stifling of creativity in religious households, which leads to hellholes. If we could use out creativity for good instead of hijacking it or quashing it, I see hope, as it is now I see people's beauty being squandered all in the name of politics and memes, instead of in the name of a collective bettering of the human condition.

Most Muslims reject the scientific fact of evolution. I also fail to see how Islam encourages science, most of the technoligical advancements of the modern era were made by filthy kaffirs. Oh, and all those things that you listed can be done by non-Muslims too.

Being Muslim always felt like I was the victim of some prank show pretending it was real just in case waiting for someone to point to me any minute where the hidden camera was so I could laugh my way out of that awkward situation an go home.

Everytime there is shit going on in Gaza, or Afghanistan, Muslims are quick to give charity, but if its kuffar, such as the 2010 Haiti earthquake, or any  other disaster affecting non-muslims, they never give money.
