That stuff's good but it really can't compare to 96-98 techstep/neurofunk. It's dark but with all the evil and urban paranoia taken out of it. I can't enjoy it for long periods of time because it just doesn't allow my mind to go to desolate sinister places. It's not so much that I dislike it, it's more a case of it not being moody enough due to its sheer maximalism.
People could achieve that vibe with their tracks if they went analogue and ran their reese basses through an e-mu and a mackie desk. Fracture and Neptune talk about it, actually.
