Allat - boy dont you & nessrriinnn share a lot in common - both apostates, same country, same gender & simlar age group, same interest in poetry, are you sure you're not the same person?

I've been asked that by a couple of people so I'm wondering that too now!  grin12

Nessrriinn, are we the same person? LOL.

What do you think about Nesrin's vid abuyunus? Smiley

I thought it was a wonderfully eloquent video - she's cool. Makes Hassan's 'Im an ex-Muslim' vid seem a bit lame  grin12.
Although of course I personally do beleive that some of the wonderful emotions she describes that we humans posess must come from some sort of supernatural being - in my veiw that being is God. Some people use religion to oppress others and deny others their freedom - me and many Muslims are of course are against people who incorrectly, for whatever reason, use religion in this manner.

I just want ppl to know that Abu Yunus is not unique - he remind me of many wonderful Muslims I know - which is probably why I like him so much - I hope ppl keep that in mind when they see vids of fuckwits saying shit - the internet is not the real world.

What emotions exactly come from a supernatural being?

People who use religion to oppress others are using religion correctly as it was intended anyways, so I don't see why it matters if a few fringe muslims (like yourself) believes Islam has compassionate ends. What matters is that in practice it is, and always has been, a force for evil.

What you don't get is that Islam needs to be demolished, not reformed. Your beliefs are in vain. I'm afraids the ex-muslim vs muslim will be the dividing line of the future and your lot will always be a despised minority - not intellectually courageous enough to be an apostate and not commited and loyal enough to be a real muslim. Sorry, but thats the truth.

Doesn't their using religion to oppress others and deny others their freedom also come from God  Huh?

Of course we understand that Hassan. You could also add The Tailor and debunker to the list among others. And my IRL friend Usman.

Why do you think this place is worth spending your time in? I suppose that there must be something valuable for you personally in this place otherwise you wouldn’t be posting here I guess. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad that you post here – in fact it would be great if we had more diversity of opinion in here.

I dont think its true - you will fit into the reformist group of muslims.  And by then it will probably mainstream Islam in the Western World, and wahhabists will be a niche minority.

I enjoy Iblis's cutting psychoanalysis of me. He's a charmer that one.

My sister, who I love to bits, is an apostate. I can relate to you guys in some sort of manner at least.

OMG! You took your time telling us that.  Why & how did you family take it, and has she kept it under wraps?  Why dont you tell her about this place, she might be able to draw some comfort from it..

Doesnt all this anti-Islam stuff get on your nerves - I know it would have pissed me off, like I told you when you first joined.  How do you manage to stop yourself getting involved and defending Islam all the time, particularly when the outlandish claims are made that are blatantly exaggerated and biased?

I know being mean is not your intention Iblis. But I'd be lying if I said I felt I might become an apostate - although I am not arrogant enough to say never - if Hassan could become an apostate anyone could. I am loyal to my God, my creator, and loyal to my interpretation of Islam which I agree is non-orthodox but one that I have faith in.

ps I love my brother, dearly as I'm sure your sister loves you.

abuyunus... the picture you chose for your avator is probably more like you than you think...
it would be great wouldn't if we can pick and choose from these doctrines what we see fit and discard the rest...
but we all know religion doesn't work that way...

and yesss!! i wanna know about your sister as well.. and all that stuff IsLame said...

Meh. I think you need to decide which side your on. I don't think there is room for waffling when it comes to choosing between Islam and Humanism. Its a zero-sum game as far as I'm concerned. So that's the place I'm coming from. I came to a point in my life where I had to embrace Islam fully or reject it totally, I took the more difficult choice.

Ah who am I kidding, the choice for *me* was easy and quite self-serving. But for others it can be a difficult choice. Which is why I often can get pissy on fence-sitters.

Uh no, aside from regional accents, there is no such thing as a "canadian" vs "american" accent. We sound the same.
