Your government, election does not make sense. Seriously. So what are the latest developments?

I think I'm going to rejoin the Labour Party membership tommorow after leaving it many years ago.  As much as it was the right thing to do, the sight of the fucking Tories in Downing Street just now jolted me out of my apathy. Time for the grassroots to wake up.

    Conservative - Liberal Democrat Coalition.

(which is a centre right / centre left coalition)

    David Cameron is Prime Minister.

Strange as it may seem I wish Labour had won a majority now.

I trust Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling to run the economy much more than the Tories.

Thanks Billy. Something tells me I should worry, David Cameron doesn't really strike me as a world leader.

Me too, but with Milliband at the helm instead of the Brown.  Only problem is that it would have been a weak government, that would have bombed.

I don't think this government will last the full term. Cameron is a lightweight.

Let the Tories and Lib Dems bear the brunt of the cuts. Rejuvenate the leadership of Labour. Then go for their throats.

For any Labour supporters, this is probably the best thing that could have happened for them.  Labour needed time to re-group, and now Tories are going to have to put the brakes on public spending, and they will be remembered for that.

Exactly right. I think this will work out well for Labour.

Brown was so unpopular and the Tories so far ahead in the polls for the last year, it should have been a landslide. What happened? Labour should have been wiped off the map. Instead, the people just didn't take to Cameron at all. The connection wasn't there. Now they have to reign in their plans to accomodate the LibDems and temper their agenda. Whatever Labour did, it checked Tory power. A couple of years to replenish and reorientate itself, the coalition falls,  then attack, attack, attack.

I think Cameron is going to have it bad from his party.  They havent had time to stick the daggers in after his abysmal performance at the polls, only winning by a back door coalition, despite several Labour terms and the most unpopular primeminister (at one time) in history.

I still cant believe how close it was.

Nah. I was in a dilemma. I had grown dissillusioned with Labour. I think Brown had exhausted himself. It was a difficult choice for me.

Anyway, what a lovely prize for all those Liberal Democract voters. Vote Lib Dems, get a Tory government!

Labour did a hell of a lot better than most predicted - that says a lot after 13 years when ppl naturally want change.
